'It's not working.' Slime#47 tensed up, gripping his pen tightly.
He applied more pressure, but it still left no mark on the notebook.
He glanced at the cyan lava still burning above his head and swallowed.
—Pat!
"You need to use mana," the yellow slime—Haruto said, patting him with a grin.
"Damn it." Young Slime facepalmed, feeling embarrassed, 'How did I forget this is a magical world where everything runs on mana?'
He slowly poured mana into the pen. It lit up with blue energy.
Scribble! Scribble!
He could write now, but he couldn't form the letters properly. His writing was off from the letters the fox instructor had written on the board.
He glanced around and noticed almost everyone was like him—failing to write the letters.
Only Haruto, the intelligent demon in the black-gold coat, and a few others wrote neatly.
Soon, Seralyth finished writing the 540 letters and said sharply, "In Dragon Tongue, you need to use mana to form the letters—unlike common languages, where ink is used."
"First…" she explained the process step by step.
Following her words, Young Slime poured mana into the pen and let it flow to the nib.
When mana rushed from the nib, he guided it with the pen, forming a letter.
Because mana was slippery, the letters sometimes distorted and broke apart mid-stroke.
But with practice, he stabilized it.
Soon, the students began stabilizing their mana letters as well.
'Once someone grasps the technique of stabilizing mana while writing, it gets very simple,' Slime#47 noted, glancing around as every student picked it up quickly.
Clap!
Seralyth clapped her hands, drawing everyone's attention.
"Let's start," she announced, cold as ever. "Let's practice speaking the letters one by one. Crimson Draco is a non-tonal language."
Tap! Tap!
She read letters one by one while tapping the board.
'Is she speaking?' Young Slime wondered. He didn't hear anything—yet he understood it clearly.
"Ugh… this feels unnatural," he muttered.
"Noticed any difference?" the fox instructor asked in common demon language.
"Yes…there's no sound, but we still understand it…" the students answered out loud.
"Good. You noticed." The fox instructor nodded with appreciation.
Then she explained, "I was using mana to speak—not voice. You all grew up listening to common languages, so you're sensitive to sound-based language. But Dragon Tongue uses mana."
She swept her gaze over the class. "I used mana to send my words into the air. When it reached you, you heard it in your ear, but it's not voice—so that's the confusion. No sound, but you hear clearly."
Everyone nodded in realization.
"So that's how true languages work," Young Slime whispered, nodding.
Students started reading the letters, following the white fox's instructions.
"Instead of using sound, emit mana from your throat while pronuncing the letter," she instructed.
Then she turned to Slime#47 and explained, "Slimes need to use their core instead of the throat. If any race lacks a throat, question me now."
"A… A… A…" The multicolored slime emitted mana from his core and released it from his mouth while trying to pronounce it. Mana had replaced sound.
"I…" A shadow demon raised his hand and spoke in a rough voice.
Hands rose one by one for questions.
…
Time passed quickly.
Almost two hours later—because of the Elixir of Hyper Thoughts—Young Slime absorbed the knowledge at a frightening speed.
He managed to learn the 540 letters insanely fast.
'This is unbelievable.' Slime#47's eyes widened at his own reading speed.
He still remembered it took him multiple days to memorize Herica letters.
But now… within two hours—and this was a true language.
[ Ding! You have acquired Dragon Tongue Lv.1! {Rare} ]
[ Skills:
—Dragon Tongue {Rare} Lv.1—
—Proficiency: 1/100
—Allows the user to understand one dragon language, albeit with difficulty! ]
A shimmering panel flashed in his vision.
'This skill is rare… probably because it's a true language,' he thought, glancing at the panel.
The fox instructor nodded, looking at the students who finished memorizing the letters.
"Now, let's start with words. This is Apple," she wrote on the board in Crimson Draco.
"A… p… p… l… e," everyone spoke in Crimson Draco.
Everyone practiced speaking under Seralyth's eyes.
Hours passed—under hot cyan lava and the fox instructor's harsh teaching.
They learned the basics. They could hold small conversations, albeit with difficulty.
The multicolored slime and Aurora Dragonheart stood on the podium, speaking in Crimson Draco as Seralyth supervised.
"I… am… Nameless," Slime#47 introduced himself with a little struggle, glancing up at Aurora, who had knelt to meet his eyes. 'Emitting mana from my core and shaping it through my mouth is still troublesome,' he thought bitterly, wanting to finish quickly.
Aurora introduced herself. "I am A… eu… r… o… ra Drag… onhe… art… cough!"
She coughed loudly—her throat stung from poor mana control.
"It's Aurora. And focus on controlling mana while speaking," the fox instructor corrected coldly. "Mana can damage your throat if not handled properly."
----
The next day…
Sun rays fell into the classroom as golden orbs rose in the sky.
The white fox snapped her fingers, and the small dark orbs on the ceiling vanished. She had used a spell at night to create light.
"I didn't know time went by so fast… one day," a student muttered under his breath as he felt the warmth of sunlight.
On the podium, the class continued.
"I am slime," Slime#47 said in fluent, clean Crimson Draco.
"I'm Te… b… u… ra Dr… ag… onhe… art," Tebura said, introducing himself—though he wasn't as fluent as the young slime.
Since the fox instructor had prepared this class specifically for Young Slime, she made him spend the entire last day speaking with different students.
For one entire day, he stood on the podium and kept speaking.
Because of these conversations, he became more fluent—enough for a level-up.
And his status didn't lie.
[ Ding! Dragon Tongue has leveled up to Lv.2! ]
'I'm done… at least with speaking,' Young Slime thought with a slight grin.
"Good," the fox instructor nodded.
But then—Grr!—hungry stomachs growled.
"How long has it been?" she asked sharply, "As demons, you can't even hold back your hunger?"
