I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 38: Old Friends from the Secret Castle

The carriage advanced along the coast, and through the window, one could see the beautiful scenery of Ivory Bay, truly as picturesque as poetry and painting. This was completely different from the port, surrounded by wealthy districts. Many new aristocrats favored this area, and of course, seasoned nobility would purchase vacation estates here. There were plenty of restaurants and entertainment spots, and Hedan was a place where money was never scarce. Much attention was paid to aesthetics, and it was no wonder it attracted nobles and wealthy merchants from across Dao Yuan to gather here.

The sea was a deep blue, and though the day was still bright, as night fell, the cool sea breeze with a beer in hand would be divine, wouldn't it?

Oh, but alas, there was no beer here. They did have a refreshing Kelly wine, but it was a bit sweet. Everything here was somewhat sweet.

Throughout the journey, Lancer kept the group entertained with various stories, a chatter that had everyone laughing heartily. Li Xin was reminded of his former roommate Huahua, nicknamed Butterfly, a social butterfly indeed, dining felt like listening to a comedy performance, and his popularity was exceptional. Lancer was this kind of person.

The carriage stopped in front of a magnificent castle-like building by the bay; this was the Lanuo Ivory Bay Restaurant. Originally owned by a duke of Hedan, it was later gifted to the chef, and thus this restaurant came to be.

Upon getting out of the carriage, the group noticed something amiss. At the entrance, a team of Royal Knights was stationed; their attire was completely different from the city guard, with a golden tree emblem on their chest - the symbol of the Royal Knight Order... was there a royal presence here?

The leading mid-aged knight looked at the group, his gaze slightly stern, "Who are you?"

"Your Excellency, I am Simmons George, I have a reservation here today." Simmons replied with a modest smile.

The mid-aged knight glanced at Simmons, scanning the group, nodded slightly, "Please, come in."

The group exchanged glances, even Rock, who liked to bounce around, behaved quietly. The main doors opened, revealing a row of black tuxedo-wearing, white-glove-sporting attendants, bowing as they waited. Seeing Simmons and the others, the manager promptly approached, "Honorable Mr. Simmons, Miss Celestia, and esteemed guests, your room is ready. Welcome to you all."

Bowing in greeting, the other attendants also bowed in synchronization.

Simmons nodded as the manager led the way, starting to introduce the place to Simmons, "As it's your first visit, let me explain briefly. Dinner is custom-designed by the chef, there is no menu service, we don't offer performances like magic, dance, or music during meals, and self-entertainment is prohibited."

This unique and pretentious style is exclusive to the Lanuo Ivory Bay; chefs elsewhere would be dead for such pretentiousness. Nevertheless, all guests laud it, with queues as long as the reputation is grand enough to justify it. Even the noble guests accept this style, and Lancer kept observing around. After today's meal, he could boast for a long time, his friends had been envious for a period, but none could match up, their leader was indeed their leader.

"Why is no one here today, have others not arrived yet?" Celestia asked curiously.

"Today there are only two tables, the place was originally booked by Prince Achilles, but upon hearing Your Excellency was coming, he surrendered a table." The manager spoke with great respect, and the group finally understood it wasn't due to George's influence. Even the duke and marquis needed to queue here, let alone George who was temporary.

The spontaneous generosity came from Prince Achilles, a prince genuinely exceptional. When he first returned, he roamed anonymously challenging others, with no semblance of a prince's demeanor, little regard for protocol and formalities, apparently the rumors were true.

After sending his sister to the Withered Wood Monastery, Achilles was locked up, with his mother insisting he learn royal etiquette, having been wild at the Holy Hall for years, needing to refresh his mannerisms, which had nearly stifled Achilles. Finally getting free time, he came to this restaurant.

Achilles had dined here several times, finding it excellent. He had a great relationship with the chef, and whenever Achilles wanted to dine with friends, the place was cleared, with previous bookings postponed, naturally none complained about being postponed. Just in time, Simmons sent someone to book, the manager had already politely refused, but upon hearing it was Simmons, Achilles agreed.

This invisibly elevated Simmons' status in the manager's view, having welcomed so many dignitaries, even Count George would be treated just so, let alone Simmons. But the prince's recognition was no ordinary feat.

Manager Ansel patiently explained, also incidentally heightening Simmons' stature among his team, surprising even Celestia, "Simmons, when did you get so close with the prince?"

Simmons smiled, not replying, he really had no friendship with the prince. In reality, they'd only seen each other a few times at the Secret Castle, greeted in passing, without further interaction. People said Prince Achilles was characteristically magnanimous and sociable, likely true, and while he could be daring, Simmons couldn't afford to lose his sense.

"Our prince is famously affable, much appreciated."

The manager led the group into a room overlooking the beautiful bay, one of only two such rooms. The Lanuo Ivory Bay only operated Monday to Friday, evenings only, with just six rooms available, two by the sea and six inside, hence Simmons and his guests were truly benefiting from the prince's favor.

The room's decor was exceptionally luxurious, originally a duke's vacation property, clearly further adorned by the chef, the murals were exquisite, the room spacious and grandiose, the golden candle holders didn't appear tacky. In such an environment and status, merely serving as apt embellishments, seemingly ordinary in their eyes, what mattered was the cuisine itself.

It was set with a long table, Simmons insisted on Li Xin taking the head seat. Li Xin vehemently refused, it was reserved for the host, he wouldn't sit even if threatened with death. Simmons still owed him breakfast money, that other guy, Qi Badao, too, those people loved taking advantage of the poor, Li Xin had learned his lessons.

Simmons seeing Li Xin insist, didn't press further, the group sat down, Celestia beside Li Xin, Lancer and others couldn't wait, along the way, they were briefed on the restaurant's renowned excellence.

Originally intending to gripe a bit, but with even the illustrious Prince Achilles hosting, complaints were needless, certainly excellent, but the topic turned to the prince.

"Leader, you're so poised and low-key, I've heard our second prince is a prodigy among the Holy Hall elites, few can catch his eye, yet he shows such favor to you." Rock said excitedly.

"Nonsense! Our captain carries the weight of resurrecting the Canon Law School, personally appointed by the royal family, just awaiting his rise!" Balakli proclaimed enthusiastically, the group's praises weren't mere flattery. They genuinely found Simmons remarkable, though Simmons was overwhelmed, quickly waving them off.

"Guys, we're all friends here, no need for such praise, let's eat, let's eat." Simmons smiled wryly.

The attendant entered, "Mr. Simmons, tonight we offer three types of wine, two types of drinks for selection, what would you prefer?"

"When is the food arriving?" Salana asked.

The attendant smiled briefly, "First is the aperitif, followed by starters, main course, dessert, the entire dining experience is expected to last two to three hours. Starters are expected in about five minutes, please hold on."

While everyone chose their beverages, Simmons approached the attendant, "Has the prince arrived? Please ask if it's possible for me to greet him."

"Please wait a moment, I'll report to the manager." The attendant replied respectfully with a bowed head.

Simmons nodded, in etiquette he should greet the prince, though unsure if Achilles was occupied with serious business, asking was necessary.
