"Mr. Leo, you can ask me one question," Cantona said with a smile. "Regarding the world, you don't need to waste a question. In most countries of the Dao Yuan Continent, it's the same. People may be good or evil, but that's something that happens after they grow up."
Batty nodded, "Thank you, Mr. Taurus. I want to know why I'm here?"
"This stems from the Divine Relic within you. We all possess a Divine Relic, and the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc we are on should be a Divine Artifact of some Divine Being. For unknown reasons, it attracts those who meet certain conditions to gather here. Since we have no conflicts of interest, we've established the Round Table Conference to help each other and share secret knowledge." Cantona said, noticing Leo's confused expression, and went on to explain what a Divine Relic is.
Batty wasn't foolish, "You can ask me now."
"Have any of you seen a god?" Cantona asked, "Or has one descended upon Divpo City?"
"I haven't seen it, but everyone believes that the Trinitarian God exists. Only the Lord of the First Gate can communicate with a god," Batty said.
The crowd exchanged glances, and Christian spoke up, "Taurus, with Leo's situation, he can't tell what a true Divine Being is. Gods existed in the Fourth Era, and we are now in the Sixth Era. Not even the Pope can exist on the Dao Yuan Continent, let alone any gods."
Batty stubbornly shook his head, "Even though I haven't seen it, the Trinitarian God has many miracles, displaying divine power to protect Divpo City. Food and water rely on the Trinitarian God to obtain."
"Batty, judgments are based on perception. You are still in a state of being obscured; don't be too quick to judge. Of course, seeing your progress today, you've already come a long way. Pay more attention; we have plenty of time to make judgment. If there truly are divine beings still existing in Dao Yuan, then that's interesting," Christian smiled.
"Let's continue. Leo's appearance has increased the time we have available." Cantona pointed to the constellations turning on the dome, halting the debate, because whether the Trinitarian God is a god, a demigod, or even a disguised lesser god can't be determined. After all, whether the Mist Continent exists in Dao Yuan is still a question. In the Ragnarok of the Fourth Era, gods either perished, slumbered, or disappeared; it's possible that some found a way to avoid disaster.
Cancer arrogantly pouted his lips.
"Mr. Leo, is there anything you'd like to ask?" Li Xin said.
"Mr. Gemini, when becoming a Lightkeeper, we went through such a process. I want to know what the worm is all about." Batty explained the test he underwent to become a Lightkeeper.
The group exchanged glances; isn't this the process of creating an Original Embryo and nurturing a Divine Relic? Under absolute control, one could indeed act as they pleased in the name of a deity.
"This is about creating an Original Embryo to gain power and has nothing to do with atonement." Li Xin explained, "And the Divine Relic within you, rather than being bestowed by them, it is more like the Divine Relic chose you. Now, you are its owner. Understanding it allows you to access the power it contains. The awakening of your first Life Star means you have already awakened part of the power."
Batty's mind was reeling from the intense impact. Some processes were the same, yet the roots were worlds apart.
His mind was buzzing; it wasn't a form of atonement, but simply a way to produce weapons, and they were only experimental subjects. One after another, lives were lost thinking they were seeking redemption, for family, but were mere tools.
Batty took a deep breath and nodded, "I did gain power. I gave myself a stab thinking I would die, but the Divine Relic saved me. In that instant, I felt it—the Death and Life, Great Compassion and Great Mercy Heavenly Mother Blade."
Everyone drew a sharp breath, partly because Leo was bold, speaking out about everything, and partly out of shock from the power of his Divine Relic.
Resurrect from the dead? What level of Divine Relic is this?
And that title—this isn't something an ordinary Holy Relic could possess. Most Divine Relics do not have such indications during their evolution, which suggests an extremely powerful associated Divine Being.
Batty wasn't foolish, saying everything out loud. Rather, he was very clear that this might be his only chance to truly save his sister, save his compatriots, and all of this was following the Mother Blade's guidance. In revealing the Mother Blade's name, he had already violated his former oath.
This was a step forward for him, a decision made; if there were repercussions, he was willing to bear them, simultaneously confronting past challenges after one brush with death.
Christian's pupils also contracted slightly, "Resurrected; are you sure it wasn't just a cut that healed on its own?"
"Mr. Cancer, I am a Lightkeeper, and that stab pierced my heart without any deviation," Batty explained.
"Then your Divine Relic is extraordinary. After Ragnarok, Divine Relics scattered across the continent, and the situation became chaotic. Various powers and authorities were dispersed among them. Generally, they are mere fragments; the carrier can continually utilize them to extract the embedded power. A few Divine Relics have forms and can be used as weapons, curse tools, or magic artifacts; these are relatively complete Divine Relics. Among them, a Divine Relic with a title belonged to a god who once truly had authority. Leo, you are impressive." Christian said calmly, slightly raising his opinion of the Black Leo.
Gemini, Aries, and Taurus all mulled over what Cancer had said; whenever stimulated by information, Cancer would react, and though it often ended with him showing off, there were indeed valuable insights within.
"Thank you, Mr. Cancer, for your guidance." Batty stood and bowed. Mr. Cancer's words not only explained the origin of the Black Saber but also lifted his own constraints.
"Mr. Gemini, you may ask your question," Batty said.
"Have you ever been to the Holy Land?" Li Xin asked, "Or are there any methods to enter the Holy Land within Divpo City?"
Everyone perked up their ears. The Mist, being isolated from the world, undeniably led everyone to think of the Holy Land, but it wasn't a place where life could stay for long. Great powers might have a way, but Batty and many Divpo City residents clearly weren't great powers.
Batty shook his head cluelessly, "Never heard of it, ... As Roto, our lives consisted only of training and labor."
The Round Table Conference fell into silence, "Thank you, Mr. Leo, for your answer," Li Xin said, "You must keep what happens here confidential. Given the situation in Divpo City, it could very likely bring about a fatal disaster for you."
Batty nodded, "I'm currently guarding the lighthouse, with no contact with others."
If he hadn't turned into a monster, he would have thought he had already fallen living in a dream. It's said that monsters in the mist are adept at creating dreams and illusions, but now he decided to believe in everything before him.
"Is there anything else you'd like to ask?" Christian looked at Leo, saying that after learning the tier of Leo's Divine Relic, Cancer's attitude improved a lot, and Leo seemed to have stumbled into things well.
Batty felt that the person with the most authoritative and knowledgeable insight here was, indeed, before him: Mr. Cancer. "Mr. Cancer, I want to know if there's any way to leave the Mist World and come here?"
If he could leave Divpo City and come to the prosperous Dao Yuan Continent, whether the Trinitarian God was true or false wouldn't really matter. After all, it was a god of faith. Even though doubts remained, avoiding conflict would still be best. He merely wished to take his sister and compatriots to a pure land.
"Certainly, there's a way." Christian said.
This statement struck Batty, shaking him from head to toe with excitement. Christian gestured for him to calm down, "Don't rush; your Divine Relic is extraordinary, and the enemies you will face will also be terrifying. I suspect the Divine Relic within you might be the key, while we are your guides. You need to enhance your control over the Divine Relic to find the answer."
Saying this, he pointed at the Life Star before him, and Cantona immediately provided assistance by explaining.
Christian was very satisfied with this, "Now it's my turn to ask; when you killed those Fallen and monsters, would worms appear?"
"Sometimes yes, sometimes no." Batty immediately responded.
Christian nodded and fell silent, making everyone itch with curiosity.
The crowd looked at Cantona, who coughed a few times, "Mr. Leo, your previous conversation was very sincere, and you have passed the test of the Round Table Conference. You are now a formal member of our Round Table Conference, and everyone can be a bit freer in future exchanges."
"Thank you, gentlemen, for your recognition and help," Batty said earnestly. He, too, felt that this was only reasonable.
"The Twelve Zodiac Star Disc can automatically summon us. We're unsure of its principles, but we hope you all come when summoned. If you want to share something privately with someone or complete a certain transaction, you can use the Divine Relic to sense the position of the Star Disc." Li Xin outlined the method of private communication, looking at the celestial constellations moving overhead; the time was almost up.
At this point, the Star Disc began to shake, signaling the end of the gathering. Everyone stood; Batty quickly stood as well, disappearing with the light.
The seats of the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc emptied, and suddenly the entire Star Disc shook briefly. It seemed as if something massive had hit it, and starlight swirled. It quickly returned to calm as if nothing had happened...
