Jimmy continued to clone, and tame Compies. It was a boring process, and after two full hours, he managed to clone fifteen Compies in total.
Mathematically, it shouldn't have taken two full hours just to clone fifteen of them, but Jimmy was pacing himself. He wanted to give his mana some time to recover every now and then, and paired with the fact that they had to lead the clones to the tunnel past the automated door, just so they wouldn't cause any trouble in the cloning room, the fact that they managed to clone fifteen of them in under two hours was very productive!
Mika was good company. She got bored very easily, and hence, she got a bit dramatic every time she was bored. She kept the conversation going as if her life depended on it, just so she wouldn't get bored or walk around in silence. This, in turn, helped Jimmy pass the time as well.
"How many more clones do you need?" She asked.
"Hah," He chuckled, "I need hundreds of them, but my mana is running out, so we're gonna make fifteen more. I wish we had more time to prepare, but… it looks like we're gonna have to fight what remains of those three-hundred men."
"Can't you come back here in the morning, and make some more clones?" She asked.
Mika wasn't scared to fight, hell, she wasn't even scared to die in battle, but she knew how much Jimmy cared about preserving what was left of the tribe, so she wanted to help him maintain his inner peace. She saw him as a friend, and therefore she cared about him.
"That's the problem, I can't do that," He said, "Once, and when the clones get wiped out, I'm gonna need to take part in the first line of defense, along with some other people I trust. I can't run into battle without an ounce of mana to my name, because not only will that get me killed, it'll put my friends in danger as well."
Solution oriented, she insisted, "What if we don't have to fight them head on? I saw some hunters using some sort of tool to… shoot their tiny spears very far. What if we have them attack our enemies from afar?"
At that moment, Jimmy's eyes widened up, and he realized how stupid he had been. Nevertheless, he managed to piece a strong plan together, a plan which should stretch the battle long enough for his tribe to have a fighting chance!
"God damn!" He exclaimed, "Now that's smart! I've been so focused on using the tech from here, that I forgot we have archers! Twelve archers aren't a lot, but they will help make a dent once our enemies chew through the clones."
Mika was finally given the chance to portray her intelligence. She did have an IQ boost before Jimmy freed her, and now that she was calm, her intelligence started to bloom. She kept thinking of advanced ways of dealing with the enemy, and so of course, she got another idea!
She pointed at the alien gorilla in container number one, and asked, "Why not clone a few of those ugly ones? They look dangerous."
"Hmm…" He stroked his chin, "They may be too smart for me to tame, or maybe even too fucking violent to control, but I guess they're worth a shot?"
Jimmy approached the container where the space ape was in. He was looking at a five-foot tall, white-fured ape, and it looked a lot more like a Yeti, actually, except for the fact that it was far too small to be considered a yeti, and not to mention the fact that it had antennas on its head, and a mouth in its stomach! The mouth in its stomach looked like it was venomous too, it was terrifying, so he was already nervous about tampering with such a horrid creature.
Nevertheless, the situation was dire, so he had to give it a shot. He heard its heartbeat, so he tapped into it, but that was when he discovered that this little monster had two beating hearts, which weirded him out a little bit. He didn't want to waste mana to figure out why that was the case, so he skipped past that, and tapped into its brain.
"Hmm…" He stitched his eyebrows, "He's actually a pretty nice guy. I guess he just looks violent to us."
To his luck, the ape wasn't too smart either, so he could tame it without wasting a lot of his mana on it. He loved the idea of having strong, scary looking apes fight in the upcoming battle, because they might just be scary enough to scare away some of the enemy troops. It would be a nice bonus if that happened.
Jimmy tamed the sleeping beast, jacked its size up by two cranks, kept its intelligence the very same, and then he freed it from its container. In the off-chance that this gentle ape turned violent, he was ready to pop its two hearts on the spot, but thankfully the transition process was smooth.
The ape looked at them, or specifically, at Jimmy, and awaited commands. He felt shadowed when he approached the ape, who had been jacked up in size to be seven foot tall, or two-hundred and thirteen centimeters tall, but he trusted the process.
Jimmy had altered its brain identically to how he altered the Compy clones, so neither him or Mika were in any actual danger.
"Oh, hell yeah…" He smiled, as he stared at the large mouth in its stomach, and the mouth smiled back. "This'll do."
Mika was not scared of the ape whatsoever, so she guided it past the automated door, and towards the tunnel. Gentle or not, they'd rather have a seven-foot tall ape stay away from the cloning room.
The Compy clones nearly attacked it, but when they saw Mika walking side by side with the ape, they calmed down. Thankfully, they were smart enough not to attack unprovoked, as they were still scavengers, not hunters. The ape wasn't scared of them whatsoever, and just stared them down. He was ready for battle, and wouldn't mind smashing through Compies if the situation came to it, but for now, he remained docile.
Anyway, after that point, Jimmy decided to clone four more apes, because he figured that they would be useful in battle. His mana reserves were below thirty-five percent at this point, so he used what remained of it to clone and tame ten more Compies, instead of the planned fifteen. Trading five Compies for five jacked up alien apes was a good trade in his book.
In total, he now had five apes, and twenty-five Compy clones ready to fight for him. Were such numbers ideal? No, but he was sure that these strong, loyal clones could wipe out at least a third of the enemy army all by themselves. The thirty clones were going to die tomorrow, yes, but their sacrifice will keep Jimmy's entire tribe safe.
"Oh well," He sighed, "If I start missing these bastards, I can always clone more of them some other day."
"Take your own advice, Jimmy," Mika patted his shoulder, "The clones are gonna die tomorrow, so we don't have to."
Jimmy sighed, trying to let some of his frustration out, but then he saw something that cheered him up right away.
"Those apes are fucking, aren't they?" He asked, and couldn't help holding his laugh in as soon as they left the cloning room, "They're males… so that has to hurt."
"Right?" She gasped, "I mean, why did you give them such big dongs?"
"I didn't plan that," He grinned, "The container jacked them up in every way, I guess? But I can get them to stop."
Jimmy approached his ape clones, and they started behaving as soon as they saw him. They knew enough to respect their master, so they stopped humping each other.
"Good," He smirked, "You can fuck each other all night, for all I care, but there is a lady present, so behave."
"I don't think they understood you, but that's sweet of you." Mika walked over.
"Yeah…" He started to get suspicious, "I don't know enough about these aliens to figure out if they can be a threat without meaning to, so how about you stick close to me from this point onwards? I don't want you to get humped by a space ape."
"Smart," She chuckled awkwardly, and a blush stretched across her face. "Thank you for trying to protect me, Jimmy."
Afterwards, she leaned over, and landed a kiss on his cheek, "You're a sweet boy."
Anyway, before they made it to the end of the tunnel, their path was cut by an entity that Jimmy was growing to like.
"Jurassic Jesus!" He exclaimed in joy, "What's up, man?"
"Death is nigh," The entity answered, his voice cold, and direct.
