"So... predictable." The masked Demon displayed a smile, unclear whether it was self-mockery or mockery of others, possibly both. For one, he had thought too simplistically; secondly, Yato had been manipulated far too deeply.
Just like a young elephant tied to a tiny wooden stake, unaware that it had grown much stronger over time, making it easy to break free from the rope and uproot the stake.
Yet the young elephant was oblivious to this fact, not realizing that it was no longer a mere elephant, that the tiny stake and rope could no longer restrain it...
It wouldn't even conceive the idea of direct resistance anymore.
"Very good, looks like the result is decided. Let's congratulate this B... ahem, congratulate this contestant, Fujisaki Kouta, on his beautiful win in the first contest."
A visible whirlwind swept onto the stage, suddenly stopping, as the Demon host in a white suit and green mask reappeared.
Holding the microphone, he seemed dissatisfied, staring lackadaisically with dead fish eyes, speaking those words.
"I won... Now I can leave, right?"
Facing the eerie presence nearby, he resisted the impulse to lash out and suppressed his own feelings of anger and humiliation. Fujisaki Kouta shouted fiercely despite his inner fear.
Worried that the opponent might accuse him of "acting" or "rigging the contest," his fight had been genuinely vicious. However, since Yato couldn't do the same, he finally, brutally, seized victory.
"Of course, of course... As long as you follow my rules, I will follow mine. Here's your reward, Mr. Fujisaki Kouta..."
With dead fish eyes and lacking energy, Gu Mo reluctantly said this while tossing over a bottle of blue pills.
Intensely staring at him, Fujisaki Kouta breathed a slight sigh of relief, though without any joy, but instead a hidden glare of hatred. He took the bottle and turned to walk off the stage.
He could not die here...
His ambition and grand vows were not yet fulfilled...
Just wait and see, all the humiliation endured today must be repaid tenfold, a hundredfold!
"No time to waste, now let's draw the second contest's participants... First, the contestant from team A, let's see who's so lucky?"
Arriving between the two boxes from before, Gu Mo yawned and swiftly reached into the left box to draw a slip of paper—
"Ho ho ho, this time the lucky one is Kamimura Raishin, let's welcome him with applause. Please prepare yourself, Mr. Jian..."
Amidst the thunderous cheers, the burly man holding the Thunder Blade took a deep breath and spoke as calmly as possible: "I don't have the surname Jian, don't call me that."
"Oh, my apologies, Mr. Jian, it was our crew's mistake for making such a basic error. Please allow me to convey our sincere apologies..."
The Demon host apologized without sincerity—
"Well then, Mr. Jian, could you come up and prepare now?"
"..."
"..."
Taking a deep breath, Kamimura Raishin chose not to engage in pointless arguments. Holding the dragon-shaped Lightning Divine Artifact in his hand, he marched onto the stage.
Let's get straight to it, there's nothing to fear!
"Now let's draw the contestant for team B... Wow! Unbelievable, Fujisaki Kouta again, lucky twice in a row!"
Gu Mo reached into the second box and drew a slip, while announcing the result with exaggerated flair, realized his speech was too fast, finishing before even opening the paper.
He quickly opened it and took a swift glance, nodding profoundly without additional comment.
"Why... is it me again!"
Not having yet left the stage, Fujisaki Kouta turned, his eyes red with fury as if about to spew fire. This was truly outrageous!
"Maybe this is life, Mr. Fujisaki Kouta..." The Demon on stage lamented: "You're very lucky; when fortune comes, there's no stopping it, an envy we can't match..."
"..."
"..."
Fujisaki Kouta was almost grinding his teeth to powder, his eyeballs turning bloodshot with rage at being manipulated and insulted. Red threads seemed to spread across them, threatening to pop out!
"This is definitely rigged, I don't acknowledge this selection!"
"Mr. Fujisaki Kouta, without evidence please be cautious. Our program consistently upholds three principles: fairness, impartiality, and transparency, and I am a paragon of beauty and wisdom, heroism and chivalry, there's no way I'd stoop to such low measures..."
The Demon host raised an eyebrow, issuing a stern warning.
"Do you dare let me see your box!"
Fujisaki Kouta yelled irrationally in anger, losing his composure which was understandable. An opponent clearly seeking his demise, failing once, tries twice, twice fails, attempts thrice.
The intent was clearly his demise... Who could calmly accept such rampant oppression, without harboring thoughts of resistance?
"There's nothing I wouldn't dare, I have nothing left to fear..."
Gu Mo looked deep into his eyes, the mask showing a comically arrogant expression. He laughed implying things, his voice surprisingly joyful.
Fujisaki Kouta felt a chill within, could the opponent have discerned his true intentions... No, impossible!
Forcing himself to not show it, he remained outwardly angry and hysterical, walked quickly toward the boxes with reddened eyes.
Halfway there, he suddenly tossed his Divine Artifact, transforming into a stream of light, speeding toward the nearest box!
"I knew there was a problem!!"
"Hey! You...!"
The green-masked Demon was visibly shocked, hurriedly stepping forward to intercept, but at that moment, Fujisaki Kouta felt a surge of delight, roaring like a crazed beast as if going all in—
"That's it! Chi!! Help father kill him!!"
Roar!
With a strange, muffled sound, a giant fish creature heavily crashed onto the stage, it was the Divine Artifact Fujisaki Kouta had thrown, instantly transforming!
Simultaneously, the fish creature ferociously opened its bloody maw.
And so the true target was attacked!
With a screech, its upper and lower jaws filled with serrated teeth clamped down, biting into the distracted Demon host's head... A resounding crack echoed.
"..."
"..."
The scene was silent.
Everyone stared dumbfounded at the powerful green-masked Demon, who collapsed onto the ground lifelessly, and above the neck... there was nothing.
The headless corpse spewed blood, collapsing like a severed marionette.
Meanwhile, the massive fish creature nearly crushed the stage, flipping over the second box, spilling papers everywhere. Each slip bearing "Fujisaki Kouta's" name...
