He Ate a Divine Dragon

Chapter 146 Assassination

Blow-drying my hair for the rest of my life?

Su Qingning's heart skipped a beat. A strange sensation quickly spread throughout her body; her heart felt tender, numb, warm, and sweet.

However, her lips curled into a scornful sneer. "You wish! I would never let a dirty hooligan like you do it!"

Lin Xiao just smiled, remaining silent.

Ten minutes later, her silky hair was finally dry. Su Qingning climbed into bed like a little rabbit while Lin Xiao returned to his makeshift bed on the floor.

Perhaps the evening's events had taken a particularly heavy toll on Su Qingning, leaving her exhausted both physically and mentally. It wasn't long before Lin Xiao heard her steady, even breathing.

Lin Xiao wasn't sleepy. His mind was busy contemplating the road ahead, and he lost track of how much time had passed.

Suddenly, a terrifying murderous intent rushed in from the window.

Lin Xiao, who had been resting with his eyes closed, abruptly opened them. In a flicker, he was standing at the edge of the window.

Through the dim lights of the villa courtyard, Lin Xiao clearly saw a dark figure flit over the walls like a specter. The figure landed soundlessly on the ground before disappearing into the shadows.

A cold smirk touched the corners of Lin Xiao's mouth. Some fool who doesn't know life from death, daring to brazenly infiltrate the villa.

Although Lin Xiao didn't know the intruder's purpose, he was sure that anyone sneaking in by climbing a wall in the dead of night was up to no good. But he didn't want to startle his prey just yet. He had to figure out what the newcomer was after.

The shadow lurked in the darkness for over ten minutes before lunging toward the villa like a bolt of lightning. Each step carried him more than ten meters. It was clear the intruder's cultivation was impressive. Indeed, it was impressive. The moment Lin Xiao saw the man, he recognized him as a Heaven Level Martial Artist. Such a level of cultivation would be considered highly skilled in the secular world.

In Lin Xiao's eyes, however, the man was as weak as an infant.

The figure quickly reached the villa's entrance but didn't go inside. Instead, with a single leap, he slipped into a room on the second floor.

Lin Xiao smiled silently and turned toward the hallway.

Xin Guangping was feeling proud, even a bit disdainful. As one of the four principal guardians of the Ghost Medicine Sect's Tenth Hall, his mission was to assassinate a filthy beggar.

The Hall Master had said the man's cultivation was impressive, and several experts from the Tenth Hall had already fallen at his hands. Because of this, Xin Guangping had been somewhat apprehensive when he set out. But now, more than ten minutes had passed since he entered the villa, and there hadn't been the slightest sound. He realized the Hall Master must have overestimated this filthy beggar. After all, if he were truly an expert, I would have been discovered long ago.

Realizing this, Xin Guangping's courage grew. He had planned to execute the assassination stealthily, but now he changed his mind.

He walked out of the room with a swagger.

The next second, Xin Guangping froze. He saw a beggar-like man standing in the corridor, smiling faintly at him.

The sudden appearance of his assassination target gave Xin Guangping quite a start, but he quickly calmed down and swiftly surveyed the beggar. Xin Guangping grew increasingly disappointed, because he couldn't sense the slightest bit of Profound Energy from the man.

Any Martial Artist would exude Profound Energy, unless their cultivation was so exceptionally formidable that they could conceal it. But clearly, this beggar in front of me isn't that kind of person.

At this thought, Xin Guangping let out a cold, mocking cackle.

"Looking for me?" Lin Xiao suddenly asked.

"That's right!"

"What for?"

"To kill you!" Xin Guangping said coldly.

Lin Xiao nodded. "Alright, then follow me. If you can catch up, I'll give you the chance to kill me!"

Xin Guangping was taken aback for a moment. He then saw the beggar turn and head downstairs.

Xin Guangping snorted disdainfully. "Thinking of running? It won't be that easy!"

Saying this, he quickly gave chase. In the blink of an eye, both men were out of the villa.

Lin Xiao seemed to be genuinely fleeing for his life, racing away from the villa.

Xin Guangping's smile grew colder. In his view, the beggar was obviously terrified. This frantic running is nothing but an attempt to escape. Pathetic. Before a Heaven Level Martial Artist like myself, all such effort is in vain.

Xin Guangping leaped into the air, intending to finish Lin Xiao off. But Lin Xiao seemed to have anticipated his move. Just as Xin Guangping pounced, Lin Xiao darted out of the villa grounds.

Xin Guangping let out a scornful snort. "Idiot. It's wide open out here. Let's see where you can run to now!"

The villa district was extremely quiet. Lin Xiao ran as if his life depended on it, heading further away. With a cold smirk, Xin Guangping followed at an unhurried pace. He didn't rush to make his move. It wasn't because he was unable, but because he was deliberately holding back.

Yes, I want to let him be consumed by dread. Only when fear has completely enveloped him will I deliver the fatal blow.

Soon, they passed through the villa's main gate, one chasing the other.

Lin Xiao headed quickly toward the west. To the west lay a park, nearly deserted at this hour—the perfect spot for a murder. Lin Xiao had lured him out because killing someone in the villa area was too inconvenient. If anyone saw, it would inevitably cause unnecessary trouble. It wasn't that Lin Xiao feared trouble; he just didn't want any complications.

Soon, they entered the park. At a little past two in the morning, the park was utterly silent. Lin Xiao chose a secluded spot and came to a halt.

"Well, well, stinking beggar. Done running?" Xin Guangping asked with a sinister smile.

Lin Xiao turned around, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Run? Why should I run?"

Xin Guangping scoffed. "You stinking beggar, if you weren't running for your life, then tell me, what are you doing here?"

"Killing you, of course. This is a lovely spot—the perfect burial ground I've chosen for you!" Lin Xiao said with a playful expression.

Xin Guangping's smile turned ferocious. "I have to say, you stinking beggar, you really know how to talk big!"

"Whether I'm talking big or not, you'll find out soon enough. Now, tell me, what are your last words?" Lin Xiao said nonchalantly.

"Fuck, you stinking beggar, you're truly clueless. How about this: you get on your knees and kowtow to me three times right now. If I'm in a good mood, maybe I'll leave your corpse in one piece!"

Lin Xiao nodded. "So those are your last words? Very well. In that case, I'll send you on your way!"

Xin Guangping sputtered with laughter, then burst into a full-blown roar. This stinking beggar is unbelievably hilarious. Not a hint of cultivation on him, yet he dares to speak to a Heaven Level Martial Artist like me this way. He truly has no idea what death is.

His laughter died as his expression turned cold, and he suddenly charged at Lin Xiao.
