He Ate a Divine Dragon

Chapter 264: Frustration

The sports car raced toward Chunyu Pavilion like a bolt of lightning. What was normally a half-hour drive, Lin Xiao completed in less than ten minutes.

Sure enough, Shen Jingzhe was waiting at the restaurant entrance, seemingly just for him.

"What happened to Su Qingning?" Lin Xiao asked coldly.

Shen Jingzhe had never seen Lin Xiao with such a fierce and ferocious expression; he looked as if he could eat someone alive.

"Tonight, your wife's eldest uncle invited them to dinner. Su Qingning didn't want to go, but they claimed your mother-in-law had already accepted the invitation. She was worried your mother-in-law would be taken advantage of, so she reluctantly agreed to come!"

"Get to the point!" Lin Xiao shouted sternly.

Shen Jingzhe looked at Lin Xiao as if he were an idiot. "Was that not the point?"

Lin Xiao snapped back to reality, realizing Su Qingning was being bullied by her eldest uncle's family.

"Which private room?"

"909!"

The moment Shen Jingzhe spoke, Lin Xiao's figure vanished into the stairwell. The elevator was too slow for him.

He shot up to the ninth floor at top speed. Before he even reached the door of private room 909, he heard Su Qingkun's arrogant voice.

"Su Qingning, did you really think my dad invited you to dinner out of the kindness of his heart? Let me tell you, if you don't hand over Hidden Dragon Villa today, don't blame me for what I'm about to do to your family!"

"Exactly!" Su Qingfeng chimed in, her voice as grating as a rooster crowing. "Hidden Dragon Villa was originally bought for my brother. We've been more than generous letting you live there for so long, you cheap wench!"

Lin Xiao's expression grew even darker. Though he and Su Qingning had argued the night before, it didn't mean he would stand by and let others bully her.

Without another word, he kicked open the door to the private room.

The scene before him sent him into an immediate rage. In the spacious room, he saw Su Qingning and her mother kneeling on the floor. A fresh, crimson handprint marred Su Qingning's pale face. It was obvious she had been slapped.

Su Qingkun and Su Qingfeng stood arrogantly before them. Su Daonong, the patriarch of the Su Family, sat imperiously in the main seat, watching the scene unfold with a cold and indifferent expression. The other family members looked on, gloating at their misfortune.

Lin Xiao was so furious he felt his lungs would explode. He had never imagined, not even in his wildest dreams, that the Su Family would dare to humiliate Su Qingning and her mother like this.

The moment she saw Lin Xiao, Su Qingning's defiant eyes instantly reddened with tears. Her pitiful appearance made Lin Xiao want to kill.

Su Qingning had been telling herself not to cry, knowing it would only make Su Qingkun and Su Qingfeng laugh more smugly. But the moment she saw Lin Xiao, she couldn't hold back any longer. She felt like a child who, after suffering a terrible injustice, had finally found her protector.

When Su Qingkun and Su Qingfeng saw Lin Xiao, they immediately sneered with contempt.

"Well, well, if it isn't the stinking beggar," Su Qingkun jeered. "Here to play the hero? Too bad. You're nothing but a stinking beggar. What good can you do even if you are here?"

Su Qingfeng chimed in, "That's right! Xiao Shixiong himself is my matchmaker. Go on, you stinking beggar, I dare you to touch me!"

SLAP!!!

Lin Xiao's hand cracked across her face.

If she weren't marrying a beggar in three days, and if Su Qingning weren't here, I would have smashed her head in right now.

The force of the slap sent Su Qingfeng staggering to her knees. A scorching pain shot through her head, and she let out a piercing scream.

The Su Family exploded with rage, especially Su Daonong, whose eyes seethed with venom as he stared at Lin Xiao.

"Su Qingkun, what are you standing there for? Teach this stinking beggar a harsh lesson!"

Hearing this, Su Qingkun immediately grabbed a wine bottle and swung it at Lin Xiao's head.

Lin Xiao blurred into motion. Before anyone could track his movement, they saw that the wine bottle from Su Qingkun's hand was now somehow in Lin Xiao's.

In the next instant, Lin Xiao brought the bottle down hard on Su Qingkun's head.

CRACK!

The bottle shattered on impact, splitting Su Qingkun's scalp open. He wasn't dead, though. The real show has just begun. How could I let him die so easily?

Blood seeped from the wound as Su Qingkun crumpled to the ground, his screams as shrill as a pig being slaughtered.

Su Daonong erupted in rage, rising to his feet and lunging at Lin Xiao.

Others might fear this man, but to me, he's just a piece of shit.

Before Su Daonong could even get close, Lin Xiao's fist landed squarely on his face. The blow sent Su Daonong crashing to his knees.

The rest of the Su Family, who had been so arrogant just moments before, now stood in stunned silence, not daring to even breathe. As Lin Xiao's gaze swept over them, they quickly lowered their heads. Not one of them dared to meet his eyes.

They couldn't help it; Lin Xiao's gaze was terrifying, like a knife, or like a ferocious beast that had been thoroughly enraged. Only at this moment did they suddenly realize that Su Qingning's husband, despite being a stinking beggar, did have some backbone. This included Su Qingning's mother, who, for the first time, felt that Lin Xiao might not be completely useless after all.

Lin Xiao's gaze fell upon Su Qingning. Tears dripped from her cheeks onto the floor, and with every drop, his heart felt like it was being twisted by a knife.

He quickly walked over, gently took her arm, and helped her to her feet. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "I'm sorry you had to suffer."

That single sentence shattered all of Su Qingning's defenses. Instinctively, she threw herself into Lin Xiao's arms and began to sob.

Su Qingning's heart ached with injustice. How could it not? These were her closest relatives, yet they had forced her and her mother to their knees. Su Qingfeng had even slapped her twice. But it wasn't just that; it was the attitude of the other Su Family members. Even though they had all benefited from her parents' kindness in the past, not a single one had stood up for her and her mother when her uncle's family humiliated them.

Lin Xiao held Su Qingning tightly in his arms without saying a word. He knew she needed to let it all out, and crying was her way of doing so.

After some time, Su Qingning's sobs began to subside.

Lin Xiao gently released her. Seeing her stunningly beautiful face streaked with tears, he instinctively reached out to wipe them away. Su Qingning didn't pull away; instead, a warmth spread through her heart.

Soon, Lin Xiao had wiped the tear stains from Su Qingning's cheeks.

"Qingning, sit down and rest for a moment." He helped her into a chair. "I will make them answer for what happened here today."

Then Lin Xiao's gaze fell on the three people kneeling on the ground. With a chilling tone, he asked, "Just now, who hit my wife?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Su Qingkun shouted belligerently, "You stinking beggar, what are you so arrogant about? I'm not afraid to tell you, I've already sent a message to the King of the Southern Town, Xiao Shixiong. Your time has come!"
