Blood Online: Evolving Endlessly

Chapter 117: Six Limb Monster's

In desperate times, one could only hope for the best. But right now, hope had become a scarce commodity. At least for Akhil.

There was no need to hope when there clearly wasn't any means to escape this current predicament.

[Ding!]

[The Titan of Wrath]

[Watching his family die and everything left of his clan destroyed, the lone orc returns, carrying hatred and a soul seeking vengeance... The years of anger bottled up within, the rage that consumed his sanity, will now be poured not just on the very same people that led to the extinction of his clan, but on the world. The world shall feel his rage.]

Akhil read the description from the system's message, taking a deep gulp. In the game, facing the Titan of Wrath was exciting because of the numerous rewards that came with it.

But right now, without the ability to respawn after his death? 'Hell no.'

Even running was impossible.

It felt as though the air entering his lungs grew heavier with every step the Titan took toward him.

Akhil could only watch, gritting his teeth as the Titan inched closer with every step it took.

Akhil knew he could die anytime from now. One move from the Titan would ensure that, since he was entirely defenseless. The only thing that gave him a false sense of comfort was the feeling of the emblem inside his pocket.

The Titan walked to a stop in front of Akhil, its deep red eyes staring down at him.

Now, having the Titan so close, Akhil could see the orc more clearly.

The large canines sticking out of its mouth were 5 inches long and nearly as thick as a three grown adult fingers, enough to send a feeling of dread running down his spine. It looked like it had a demonic mask stitched to its face.

If anything, compared to all the beasts and monsters alike he had encountered, this was the closest to what he could call frightening, but Akhil didn't shift his gaze from the orc even for a second.

The two were stuck in the spot, almost as though locked in a staring contest for a long minute.

Akhil felt his chest clench as the silence was broken by the orc as it let out steamy breath from its nostrils, followed by the sharp, blurring movement of its leg.

Akhil closed his eyes as the power-packed leg came swinging at him.

BOOM

The air shuddered as the leg moved. Akhil felt a powerful wind whoosh past his face, throwing his hair into a frenzied mess, but...

'No pain?' Akhil blinked, confused. He saw the leg just a few meters away from him and his body hanging up in the air like a broken doll.

Only now did he notice the hand pulling him by the hair.

"Who knew a day would come when I would see Akhil in such a sorry state? I'm definitely not forgetting this scene."

The feminine voice teased, causing all the hair on Akhil's body to stand.

The voice was in no way familiar, but no one else teased him in such a way. His eyes lit up with a mix of emotions as he glanced behind him.

He caught the sight of her long white hair, swaying slightly under the sift wind. A small, mischievous smile played on her lips as she glanced at him.

"Maria?" Akhil asked, as though not even convinced himself.

"You've been quite busy; you didn't even bother to check for me... asshole."

"..."

The sudden shift in her voice caught Akhil off guard. Before he could reply, he felt his body being flung backward.

He landed on his back, feeling a sharp pain tearing through his body. As he raised his gaze again, he noticed two more figures standing behind the white-haired girl, but his gaze was still fixed on her.

So many emotions hit him at once, so much that for a long minute his mouth was left open. "You're right, I'm an asshole," he finally said, taking a deep sigh of relief.

The girl glanced at him from the side of her eyes, her bright golden eyes locked with his for a second. "Hmph, good thing you didn't bother arguing with me," she said, puffing her chest out as though she had just won a battle. Then a small grin crossed her lips. "Well, I can't blame you... it seems you've had your hands full on this side," she said, her gaze fixed on the Titan of Wrath, who still stood in disbelief, wondering why its attack never landed on the person.

And how the same person it wanted to kill was now standing behind a new group. It let out another furious, steamy breath, turning its attention toward the new group.

"Nyla, it's a Titan! It's a fucking Titan!"

Akhil glanced toward the squabbling short boy with a black bowl-cut hair. He anxiously gripped his twin sickles, his hands shaking as though he was about to pee his pants.

"Shut up, Brown," the other guy scowled, his gaze fixed on the Titan. He had his hair covering his eyes while holding a long scythe in his hands.

Akhil could only stare at the group in complete confusion. He knew Nyla, but who were the other two? What did they come for? But he didn't care much about those questions right now.

Since there was still a big problem in front of them, Nyla quickly caught on. "There's a lot going on outside this block. Those orc friends of yours will come soon, but they've got their hands full with other things. I'll explain in more detail once we are safer," Nyla said, pulling out her sharp daggers as she entered a stance.

It seemed the orc's patience had finally run out as it let out a wild roar, eyes beaming red. But Nyla's group didn't wait for it to attack first as they burst into action.

The emo boy with the scythe went first, dark shadows curling around him as he moved, making it seem as though he was moving among shadows. He sliced the scythe at the Titan, the blade writhing in shadows that extended its reach by three feet.

The Titan's head tilted left. The shadow-scythe passed through empty air.

The emo boy pivoted, his form dissolving into dark mist. He reappeared at the Titan's right flank, scythe descending, killing intent flashing in the boy's eyes.

Even from where he sat, Akhil could feel the intent concentrated in that single point.

The Titan merely glanced over its shoulder, letting out a low growl as it stepped back.

Chains rattled.

To Akhil's surprise, the frightened boy from earlier moved with predatory speed. The two sickles came from both sides, the weapons curved through the air like striking serpents, aimed at the Titan's neck and waist simultaneously.

The Titan dropped low.

The sickles met above him with a metallic shriek... but the chains wrapped, forming a cage. Fright boy yanked. The cage constricted.

The shadows beneath the Titan's feet shifted, and from it Nyla rose, her white hair billowing under the cold wind, her eyes narrowed as she ruthlessly slashed down, aiming to tear the Titan from crown to groin.

'Their coordination.'

Akhil watched the fight in awe, surprised by the group's perfect synchrony, but he wasn't excited... since there was one problem. The Titan had yet to attack.

The Titan's hand rose, catching Nyla's hands before she could complete her movement.

Nyla's eyes widened—but she didn't hesitate. Darkness erupted from the dagger's blade, crawling up the Titan's hands like decay.

However, just as quickly as it came, the strange markings on the body of the Titan moved, glowing with power as they clashed with the darkness. Heat exploded from the markings, the darkness recoiled, hissing as it burned away.

Nyla watched in surprise, but she didn't let it get the best of her as she noticed the heavy punch from the Titan coming for her.

"Maria!" Akhil yelled in panic seeing the punch, but he felt a wave of relief as she released her dagger and melted back into the shadows, reforming ten meters away.

"Try not to get hit. The Titan's power increases the more successful strikes it gets," Akhil still left his warning. Seeing Nyla so close to death was scary.

However, he couldn't help but commend their coordination.

Emo boy didn't just attack... he created openings. His strike forced movement, herding the Titan into killing zones.

Fright Boy's chain sickles weren't meant to bind; they were spatial control that cut off escape routes while channeling the Titan toward Nyla's ambushes.

Nyla emerged from the shadows at mathematically perfect angles, her daggers always positioned where the Titan's momentum would carry it.

'Now where did Maria get such a team this time? They work like parts of a whole... impossible to be so unified while different.'

It wasn't three people fighting. It was one organism with six limbs, all working in perfect synchronization.

But even with their synchrony, the sense of dread he felt still lingered. After all, a Titan wasn't a beast. It was a boss-level threat, and the fact that it had yet to throw in an attack of its own was also something to worry about.

The Titan stood watching the group, simply amazed by their teamwork, but now... it was its turn. The patterns on its body glowed brightly and...
