...

After reviewing the reward list that appeared after defeating the evil spirits, Wang Zhifan found that although most of these equipment were for magic professions, they were not without value to him. At least they seemed stronger than the various mediocre weapons he'd obtained from killing the zombies earlier.

"I'll hunt some more evil spirits to get each Fine Layer reward once. These seem more valuable than what I've gotten just now."

Sitting on the back of his Red Deer Horse, Wang Zhifan used long-range control to form ice arms that collected the equipment from the cabin and placed them into his personal space, thinking as he did so.

He then ignored the large number of zombies in the area that gave off an aimless feeling, quietly riding his Red Deer Horse away to continue onward.

Before long, he hadn't found a second evil spirit monster, nor had he noticed any signs of NPCs or players, when he unexpectedly discovered a small path in this wilderness.

This path was truly small in every sense; strictly speaking, it wasn't much of a road, but perhaps many people had passed through here, leaving some relatively noticeable traces that made it faintly distinguishable from the surrounding grass and gravel ground.

"Following this path should lead me to NPCs."

Seeing this, Wang Zhifan immediately adjusted his plan, preparing to ride his Red Deer Horse along this path, seeking more monsters while also trying to discover the locations of NPCs.

Since the hint in this instance mentioned the existence of NPCs who sell and craft equipment, this was quite important. It was possible that the greatest gain players could find in this instance was with the NPCs.

In the following time, under the gloomy sky over the wilderness, the fully armed Wang Zhifan was brandishing his Thunder Dragon Fury, wearing the Wind Concealing Conical Hat, and riding the Red Deer Horse, moving across the landscape at varying speeds.

He urged the Red Deer to run fast because there weren't any noteworthy monsters around, and he needed to make haste. He slowed down when he encountered unfamiliar monsters, needing to kill them to see the rewards.

After approximately half an hour of this, having eradicated a few kinds of dull monsters like red-skinned, sharp-eared little men, wolves emitting a putrid green light, and giant rats with teeth longer than their legs, he made an interesting new discovery.

It was a few overturned four-wheeled wagons on the so-called wilderness road, with boxes and goods from the wagons spilled all over the ground. Nearby, he could see several stripped horse skeletons with only bones and tails remaining, and a dozen or so human skeletons clad in armor.

"The style of armor on these skeletons, along with the various weapons scattered around... they all have a Western ancient style... it seems this instance should be of the Western fantasy type... many armors and human bones have been roughly torn apart and destroyed, so the enemies they encountered were probably some kind of monster..."

Feeling curious, Wang Zhifan first observed this disaster site from the horseback for a while, then dismounted to personally inspect these bodies and the goods in the wagons, to see if there was any interesting junk to pick up.

First, he checked the armor and weapons on these skeletons up close and found that their quality was relatively low, mostly ordinary-level equipment, and most were damaged and no longer worth picking up.

Then, he discovered a certain type of small cloth bag either on or next to several skeletons. Inside these bags were some types of adult fingernail-sized circular metal objects with patterns and inscriptions.

"These things are likely the currency of this world, seeming to be made of copper, silver, and gold, which means copper coins, silver coins, and gold coins?"

Realizing that these might be the general equivalent in the current instance, Wang Zhifan got busy collecting them into his pocket and personal space, and then he went on to inspect the overturned boxes and goods from the wagons.

With a bit of effort, after opening each box and bag, he found that the contents were quite ordinary, consisting of foods like potatoes and cabbages, various colored fabrics, and even a few types of metal ingots and stones.

"This caravan seems to be transporting assorted goods, dealing in all kinds of items, probably low-end, which is why the guards' equipment wasn't great and they ended up falling victim mid-journey."

After confirming that the caravan goods held little of value to him, Wang Zhifan prepared to continue onward, but just before leaving, he found a piece of parchment near the front of a wagon.

On the parchment, several areas and routes were drawn with black lines, and several special positions in each area were marked with red crosses. Next to these marked points were annotations in blue of some kind of script. However, Wang Zhifan couldn't recognize this script; he could only guess that it was a map, possibly a map of the surrounding area.

After pondering over the map for a while and finding no recognizable landmarks, Wang Zhifan put it away and set off on his journey again, adjusting his route to follow the direction the caravan had been heading. By now, he had discovered more than one path trodden by people or horses in this wilderness.

With this clear directional guide, he intentionally increased his traveling speed. Along the way, he encountered several unfamiliar but weak monsters, which he largely ignored, and after about an hour, he finally discovered the first human gathering place in this wilderness.

It was a huge camp established by a riverside, covering more than a square kilometer. The entire camp was surrounded by short stone walls or wooden fences, with an entrance over ten meters wide opened by the riverbank. A wooden bridge spanned the river, connecting the camp to the wilderness ahead, with a squad of cavalry guards in leather armor, longswords at their waists, and longbows in hand standing guard at the bridge's edge in the wilderness.

As Wang Zhifan approached this large camp established on the wilderness, he saw two gatekeepers drawing their bows to shoot fire arrows at a few zombies wandering near the camp's entrance, executing their shots with considerable skill.

Soon, one of the cavalry noticed his approach and galloped over, longbow in hand.

"You there! State your purpose for coming to our Lion's Eye Camp!"

It was a young Caucasian cavalryman with blond hair and a face marked by freckles. Riding in close to Wang Zhifan, he unceremoniously drew his bowstring taut and aimed at him, speaking in a strange but oddly understandable voice to Wang Zhifan.
