Chapter 259: Conversation and Dining Car 2

"Lin Ping, Lv32, Mage class, hoping we can all unite and cooperate to successfully clear this dungeon."

The oily-faced middle-aged man, in his thirties, seemed much more practiced. He sat down in the seat in front of Wang Zhifan with enthusiasm and introduced himself.

"I'm a Warrior class, about the same level as you, also hoping we can unite and cooperate to successfully clear this dungeon."

Wang Zhifan felt a slight surprise at the level reported by the man, but he showed no expression on his face.

"Yes, brother, for a dungeon of this level, it's very difficult to clear it relying on individual effort alone. I think everyone here needs to understand this clearly. We must avoid any thoughts of in-fighting because the dungeon has lifted punishment. If we do, I dare say it will lead to a total party wipe."

This middle-aged man with poor skin then continued seriously, his gaze passing not only over Wang Zhifan in front of him but also the other two men and two women.

"Hehe... What good are pretty words? When things actually happen, doesn't everyone just look out for themselves? Not stabbing each other in the back would already be fortunate!"

The woman with a cold and tough demeanor didn't seem to buy these grandiose words and retorted without hesitation.

"You two, take it easy! Let's quickly discuss how to clear this dungeon, and everyone share your thoughts."

The young man with dark circles immediately sought to mediate, steering the conversation toward the most critical issue.

"My advice is to be patient, as the goal of this dungeon is to complete a task issued by the train, so we should wait for the task to emerge before discussing our strategy."

The oily-faced middle-aged man, not wishing to argue with the woman, immediately interjected.

"I don't think so. This kind of dungeon will definitely have NPCs arranged. Just waiting puts us at a disadvantage. We must take the initiative to find clues."

The cold and tough woman immediately retorted upon hearing that.

"And you, sir? You've been on this train, surely you know more than we do."

The young man with dark circles turned to Wang Zhifan after hearing their statements.

"I do know a little about the task."

Wang Zhifan thought for a moment and decided to share the information he had obtained with these teammates, as hiding it would not help in clearing the dungeon.

"Before you all boarded, I received a notification that the task for this carriage is to reach platform 17 and deal with a building called the Evil Spirit Building."

He shared all the task information he knew without holding anything back.

"Really? You dare to say it, but we're not so quick to believe it."

The cold and tough woman frowned at his words, indicating she wasn't ready to take things at face value, as there were still plenty of doubts about this self-proclaimed player's existence.

"Believe it or not, I've shared the information."

Wang Zhifan was indifferent to their skepticism, knowing that his role in the dungeon would inevitably cause trust issues; perhaps pretending to be an NPC might work better for him.

"Deal with the Evil Spirit Building? That kind of task sounds doable... I have experience dealing with ghosts."

The oily-faced middle-aged man nodded thoughtfully after Wang Zhifan shared the information.

"And you over there, Miss, why don't you share your thoughts! We could all use your strength!"

The young man with dark circles then turned his attention to the only slim female player who hadn't spoken yet, who seemed quite introverted.

"I have nothing to say... When it's time to act, I will."

The female player finally spoke up as prompted, but her tone was a bit cold.

As they talked, the train started moving slowly. The scene on the platform could be described as gruesome, with corpses all over the place, slaughtered by some long-tongued ghost, but these players clearly didn't care about such things.

The group continued chatting, primarily inquiring about how Wang Zhifan acquired the task information. Wang Zhifan revealed a little, explaining that he learned it from a display screen, but it could no longer be activated.

"For now, we can deduce that the dungeon's course shouldn't be too long, but it certainly won't be easy. Even the platform, the starting point of the dungeon, is dangerous, suggesting the train might not be entirely safe either... We must stay vigilant."

After the discussion, the oily-faced middle-aged man thoughtfully shared his thoughts.

"I agree with you... The car itself doesn't feel quite right, there's a sinister chill, but it's not the sort of chill from air conditioning."

For once, the cold and tough female player didn't retort. She glanced around the carriage, appearing a bit apprehensive.

By this time, the train was en route to the next station, the view outside a swirling blood-red hue, and the carriage contained only the five players. Occasionally, terrifying ghostly faces appeared at the doors, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

"Anyone interested in dining..."

Suddenly, an elderly woman pushing a dining cart appeared abruptly at the door near the front of the car. She looked about sixty, dressed in an old blue and white train attendant's uniform, with a face marked by deep wrinkles forming a dubious smile.

On her slow-moving multi-tier dining cart were buckets of instant noodles, stacked lunch boxes, drinks, sunflower seeds, and preserved plums, creating a varied display.

However, her manner of appearing was incredibly strange, emerging directly from the ghostly-faced door into the carriage without actually opening the door, causing the players to refrain from rash actions.

"Anyone interested in dining..."

Receiving no response, the elderly woman pushing the cart repeated her inquiry, her tone slightly louder than before.

Still, none of the five players responded, and some even discreetly drew their weapons, maintaining a high level of caution.

"Anybody wants to dine!"

After passing the middle of the carriage, she asked for the third time, her tone now significantly louder, appearing somewhat out of control.

"How much for your instant noodles?"

At the critical moment when everyone felt something might happen if they continued in silence, the young man with dark circles acted, summoning the courage to ask the odd dining attendant a question.

"A hundred yuan per bucket."

The dining lady immediately turned her head to him, her voice returning to a normal decibel level.

"I'll have a bucket."

Realizing his strategy managed to stave off her impending frenzy, the young man with dark circles reached into his pocket and pulled out a banknote, handing it to the attendant.

However, the attendant glanced at the currency he offered, slowly shaking her head, her expression quickly shifting to a colder demeanor.

"Sorry, I took the wrong one."

The young man instantly realized her meaning, withdrew the banknote, and took out another bill, offering it to her.

This note was entirely yellow, printed with coarse paper, clearly Netherworld Currency!

This time, the dining attendant didn't shake her head. She swiftly accepted the Netherworld Currency he handed over, picking up a bucket of instant noodles from the cart for him, then looked at the other four players with anticipation, saying:

"Anyone else buying?"

With this precedent, the players quickly caught on, though not all had the luck of carrying Netherworld Currency; only the sporty short-haired girl did, purchasing a bottle of peach-flavored drink.

After completing two transactions, the attendant's mood genuinely calmed down. She pushed the cart toward the rear exit, disappearing in the same bizarre manner she entered. Even in the adjacent carts, her whereabouts remained a mystery, leaving nothing but emptiness.

But had this episode truly passed just because they made purchases? The reality was otherwise.

After the dining attendant left, the young man with dark circles and the sporty short-haired girl nearly simultaneously discarded their purchased items, entering combat mode as they sensed an ominous presence ready to escape from within.
