Chapter 52: It's Snowing

On November 26th, the school held the sports day as scheduled, but unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. It always seemed to rain during the sports day—though not very heavily—it was truly annoying.

Mo Jingchun attended the opening ceremony, just like most of the students. After the ceremony ended, Mo Jingchun left.

There was no help for it; the weather in Jing City was already very cold, especially in the mornings and evenings. Now, with a drizzling rain, it was unbearably chilly.

But to be fair, the cheerleaders at the opening ceremony did a fantastic job dancing, and Mo Jingchun didn't blink the entire time.

The only pity was that the 21 Software Class was quite a distance away, so it was hard to see the faces clearly.

As for university sports day, the saying "it's important to participate" wasn't just rhetoric anymore. Competing against students from the sports department would just be asking for trouble.

Mo Jingchun still fondly remembered the high school sports day. It was, without a doubt, the event all students most looked forward to every year. Those three short days were the happiest times for students, especially for those in their third year about to face college entrance exams.

Moreover, in high school, students would eagerly sign up because anyone who made it to the top three and earned points was as good as earning money.

One point could be exchanged for five bucks!

Just thinking about it was motivating.

If someone accidentally broke a record, not only would they earn extra points, but the school would also set off fireworks in celebration.

Time flew by, and soon it was December, the last month of 2021.

Mo Jingchun had already applied for a patent for the design of an intelligent anti-shake spoon, but it was uncertain when it would pass review and be awarded the patent certificate.

In December, temperatures in most of the southern regions were still above zero, often in the teens during the day.

In the northern Jing City, under the wave after wave of cold spells, it was becoming increasingly frigid.

Luckily, there was heating indoors; otherwise, as a southerner, Mo Jingchun couldn't imagine how he would survive the cold winter.

Early in the morning, after just waking up, Mo Jingchun got out of bed, slipped on his fluffy slippers, and walked to the window, pulling back the pink curtains.

The weather forecast had predicted heavy snow starting at midnight and had reminded everyone to be careful when going out.

The moment he pulled back the curtain, in the white light, Mo Jingchun instinctively squinted his eyes.

Outside, it was all white—a world of snow.

In the sky, snowflakes as big as goose feathers were continuously falling, showing no sign of stopping.

On the windowsill, a thick layer of snow had already accumulated, and Mo Jingchun estimated it to be over ten centimeters thick.

After dressing the little one in thick warm clothes, Mo Jingchun placed a fluffy pink bunny ear hat on her little head.

Mo Jingchun held his sister Candy and walked to the window. The little one was fascinated by the snowy world outside.

Seeing snow for the first time, the little one laughed joyfully, bouncing gleefully in Mo Jingchun's arms.

"Yay yay!"

"Yay yay!"

"Yes, it is quite a heavy snow."

"Let's hope next year is a peaceful year, and we'll both stay safe and healthy."

In the group chat for the 21 Software Class, their counselor Na had already @ everyone last night, reminding all students to be careful while walking to and from classes.

In the morning, a small and a big one wrapped up tightly walked out of the apartment building. Mo Jingchun found that today, it didn't feel as cold as yesterday.

Of course, snow isn't cold, but melting snow is.

When the heavy snow stops and starts to melt, that's when it gets the coldest, especially in the mornings when it's melting. It's exceptionally cold.

Even the once soft and fluffy snow would become hard and compact after a night.

Candy, in Mo Jingchun's arms, looked up and tried to reach for the falling snowflakes, but the down jacket Mo Jingchun had bought for her was intentionally large, to keep her little hands from exposing and getting frostbitten.

"Ya ya!"

Just as with this white world, Mo Jingchun, who had tanned skin from military training, had already returned to his original complexion.

Now, walking on campus, the only way to tell whether someone was a freshman or a senior was usually on weekends, when some distinctions could be made.

If you see someone running out of the dormitory wearing pajamas and slippers, either to the dining hall or downstairs to pick up takeout, don't be surprised—they are 90% likely to be a senior or upperclassman.

As for freshmen, even if they were just going downstairs to get takeout, they would dress up a bit, at least change clothes and put on proper shoes.

In the classroom, the professor at the podium was explaining knowledge beyond the textbook, especially when it came to practical projects, and the students listened intently.

As for the textbook content, it had already been taught.

Song Yunqing took a sip of hot tea to soothe his dry throat.

"Cough cough."

"Actually, there's not much else I need to tell you. No matter how much I say, if you haven't participated in real development projects, you won't learn much of the cutting-edge knowledge."

Song Yunqing smiled and said:

"The semester is almost over, and at other universities, teachers might be starting to highlight key points for students. But here at Jing University, we never have such things as key points."

"If there is a key point, then the whole book would be a key point; otherwise, why would I painstakingly include all this content in the textbook?"

"I don't care how other subjects conduct exams or what they cover. For my subject, the final exam will be held twice."

"From today after class, you can start immediately either individually or in pairs as a team, to develop a system and simultaneously write a paper. I will send the template to the class representative, who will distribute it to the group for everyone to download."

"Do not, under any circumstances, just download a random system from the internet to fool me, this old man. If I find out, you'll be retaking the course."

"The system and paper will constitute 40% of your final grade, so take them seriously."

"Additionally, there is the regular exam, which will primarily cover the knowledge points I've taught in class."

Below the podium, observant students picked up on Professor Song Yunqing's implication that the exam content wouldn't be limited to the textbook...

"Just like the systems and paper, the written exam will also account for 40% of the final grade, while the remaining 20% will be your usual performance."

"I will rate you based on your usual class performance as well as your completion of homework assignments."

Alright, that's all for today's class. The remaining time is for you to review the knowledge points I've taught or think about what kind of system you could develop based on C language."

Having said that, Song Yunqing left the classroom with his hands behind his back, heading to the restroom.

In the classroom, many students looked troubled.

With no fixed topics to choose from, they were unsure about what kind of system to develop, and they feared even slight mistakes could lead to overlaps with others.

Oh no! Oh no!
