Not far from Fang Zhou, two trainees attracted Demons due to the intensity of their battle. They were subsequently pursued, which in turn drew the attention of even more Demons, and neither of them escaped.
Tragedies like this played out one after another.
Within half an hour, most of the trainees had grasped the situation. Even when they encountered one another, their battles became incredibly cautious. They would rather fail to kill their opponent than risk provoking the Demons.
The real hunt and counter-hunt began in earnest, much to the fascination of the spectators.
Fang Zhou soon discovered his second target: a Warlock trainee. He patiently waited for her to approach, hiding in the fog and observing her movements. The Warlock was just as cautious, seeming to sense the danger in the area. She took each step with extreme care.
Just as the Warlock unknowingly walked directly below him, Fang Zhou suppressed the urge to strike. The reason was simple: there was a third person here!
Suddenly, a shadow materialized behind the Warlock. A dagger glowing with green light plunged viciously into her spine, stunning her instantly. The Assassin followed up with a rapid series of backstabs before slitting her throat. The combo almost instantly killed the fragile female Warlock trainee.
As the Assassin bent down to finish her off, he suddenly felt an excruciating pain in his back before an immense force slammed him to the ground. This was, of course, Fang Zhou repeating his old trick. He had launched a Skeleton Flying Spear from above, effortlessly reaping the spoils.
The Assassin's eyes widened in disbelief as he died in confusion, just like the first Mage.
Fang Zhou graciously accepted another wave of points and climbed back onto a rooftop. In these ruins, the line between hunter and prey had blurred. However, Fang Zhou was always extremely cautious.
With his Pearl Bird, Gugu, circling low overhead to act as his second pair of eyes, and the powerful vision granted by his Soul Vision Skills, it was always Fang Zhou who did the ambushing. Not a single trainee had ever managed to ambush him successfully.
Another half an hour passed. Fang Zhou's points rose steadily, and he soon took a commanding lead. He had already killed more than ten trainees from other military academies.
The spectating trainees watched as Fang Zhou constantly varied his tactics. Whether he used the terrain or some special item, he always managed to kill his opponents cleverly. Without exception, all of them died in utter frustration.
"Wait, there are two trainees this time," Liu Diewu muttered to herself as she watched Fang Zhou's live stream. "How will he handle this? Or will he give up on this kill?"
"If he's found them, you can be sure he's going to make a move," Lu Renjia said.
"A Priest and a Warrior... that's tricky," Gu Yueyuan frowned.
At that moment, Fang Zhou was hiding among the ruins, observing two trainees not far away through the eyes of his Pearl Bird, Gugu. It was a Priest and a Warrior. The two of them clearly knew each other and were advancing together.
Fang Zhou knew this combination would be quite troublesome. The Priest's healing ability could greatly prolong a fight, while the Warrior was a solid meat shield capable of absorbing a large amount of damage.
I need an infallible plan… one that can eliminate both of them without alerting the Demons. Fang Zhou quickly calculated the possibilities in his head. If he attacked directly, he likely wouldn't be able to end the fight quickly and might even be countered.
On the live stream, Fang Zhou judged the route of the two trainees below him. He moved a short distance away, out of their line of sight, and grabbed a sturdy vine. After fashioning it into a simple snare, he lowered it down.
"Fang Zhou is setting a trap, but why make such a simple snare?" Lu Renjia asked.
Lu Yiyi was silent for a moment before shaking her head slightly, indicating that she didn't know either.
Liu Diewu murmured to herself, "It's several dozen yards away. If he placed it on the ground, the two trainees would definitely not fall for it. But if he's trying to snare their necks, he's too high up to have any control. The snare seems completely useless."
The other spectating trainees nodded in agreement. Forget about these elite competitors; even an ordinary trainee wouldn't be foolish enough to step into a loop they saw on the ground. As for snaring someone's neck, everyone here was a Middle-Rank Apprentice-level Professional. Even those with slower reactions could easily dodge a snare being manipulated from a height of more than ten yards. They really couldn't figure out what purpose Fang Zhou's snare served.
However, considering his history of surprising performances, no one dared to dismiss it outright.
「...」
On screen, Fang Zhou crouched at the edge of the roof. He placed the vine he was holding with the others already growing on the wall, blending it in so as not to arouse any suspicion.
The Demons in this street weren't sleeping. They were a type of giant, wandering domestic pig. They were called domestic pigs because these Demons lacked a wild boar's tusks and coarse hair, but they were enormous—at least three yards tall. This was obviously a mutated Demon, its body covered in disgusting pustules and dripping with blood. One might call it Undead, yet it was clearly alive. But though it was living, its body was covered in rotting flesh.
When the two trainees, oblivious that they were already being sized up as a meal by Fang Zhou, walked into the area and saw this Demon, their expressions changed. The female Priest, in particular, looked horrified.
"The military academies are really twisted, making such a disgusting Demon."
She wasn't scared, just so nauseated she almost vomited.
