Chapter 118: The Discovered Stronghold

The blood-red light flickered in his eyes. Xu Chu's Sweat looked back and saw the terrifying figure, long hair, leather armor, sandals, speaking in panic:

"Run, he's coming again."

The two of them had been running for a long time, but the long-haired man still caught up with them. His left hand was severed again; as he ran, blood splattered on the ground.

Zhang Daxi gasped heavily, a flicker of madness in his eyes, "He must have a way to locate us. If this continues, it's a dead end. We need to find a way to take him down."

Xu Chu's Sweat gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice, "You go first. He should be able to locate my position. If you go, at least one of us can survive."

He had some guesses about the tracking method of the long-haired man; he might have been marked somehow when the long-haired man severed his limbs.

Moreover, he was already fairly certain that this man was one of those so-called Extraordinary.

Zhang Daxi said in a muffled voice, "This monster seems to be toying with us. If I run now, it will definitely infuriate him and cause a quicker death."

Zhang Daxi had already sensed the long-haired man's playful intent, like a cat toying with a mouse it caught. If the mouse plays along, it might survive a little longer.

As the two sank deeper into despair, a bright fireball shot from afar, illuminating the street like a small sun.

"Truly a benevolent person, it's been a while since I've seen such a person, how nostalgic."

The long-haired man's face cracked into a smile, his speed suddenly increased dramatically, abandoning the chase of Xu Chu's Sweat and Zhang Daxi, and turned towards the direction from which the fireball came.

The intention of toying with these two was to see if he could lure out this fire-spitting mouse, and it seems he succeeded.

Standing on the balcony, the person who released the fireball realized the long-haired man was running towards him, understanding that he was the actual target, and immediately turned to run inside, gasping for air, the use of his Superpower took a heavy toll.

But the distance between them was still great, making it not so easy for the Hunter to find him.

"Captain, what do we do now... we should have just retreated, the orders from above also told us to retreat."

Beside him, a young man in a black combat suit complained somewhat annoyedly, not understanding why the Captain hadn't left when they were clearly ordered to retreat.

Already, hundreds had died here at the hand of that Hunter, in this hellish city.

"Stop talking, we're leaving now... cough, cough, do you think other places are any safer? Besides, if we leave, what about everyone else?"

The one who released the fireball, with fierce determination on his face, his hands charred black, quickly led a few people downstairs.

They had to get away quickly, to avoid being caught by the Hunter.

With a slash, Su Changxing clearly felt the blade cut through the zombie's flesh much more smoothly, thanks to the 12% sharpness enhancement.

"I didn't expect that a slight increase in sharpness would make the Steel Saber much easier to use; it seems the module sleeve has elevated the weapon's quality by a Level. But can this thing be stacked?"

Su Changxing looked at the Steel Saber, covered in black blood, and commented. The deep blue module sleeve had been soaked black with blood.

The head said, "Of course not, this thing is a solidified Extraordinary Power, granting the Steel Saber properties akin to a Mysterious Item. Using it repeatedly would cause conflict... this thing itself could be counted as a Mysterious Item by any measure."

After advancing through the alley for more than ten minutes, Su Changxing's steps suddenly halted, crouching in the shadows. He saw two people at the entrance of a building, clearing zombies.

[Half Twisted Humans: Half Extraordinary, healthy, indifferent.]

[Half Twisted Humans (Extraordinary): Chopper Tier Nine, healthy, irritable]

These were survivors, marked as Half Twisted Humans by "True Knowledge"; they were polluted, human yet zombie.

Su Changxing slowly drew the bow from his back, suddenly shooting. Seeing these survivors, he had no other thought but to kill them if possible, and flee if not.

"Whoosh~"

A dark arrow flew through the shadows, piercing the Half Extraordinary's forehead, destroying its brainstem, blood spurting out.

The survivor collapsed to the ground without a reaction.

"Who's there?"

The other survivor noticed their companion's sudden death, looking around, without spotting Su Changxing immediately.

He paused, scanned his surroundings again. The Extraordinary's vision far surpassed ordinary people. After a breath, he located the enemy's position at the alley's entrance, a figure crouching in the shadows, drawing a bow.

The survivor decisively raised his axe and charged at the youth, advancing with cruelty and determination. He'd survived through countless battles and could handle unexpected situations calmly.

Su Changxing raised an eyebrow; this person's reaction was more intense than he anticipated. Rather than taking cover, he rushed directly at him... underestimating him indeed.

Another arrow was loosed, as Su Changxing also charged forward, one hand gripping the Steel Saber, the other hiding... a gun.

Though the opponent likely wasn't his match, he remained cautious, ensuring no surprises would derail his efforts.

The survivor's eyes widened, unable to track the arrow's path, yet instinctively side-crouched, narrowly avoiding it as it grazed past his shoulder.

Simultaneously, Su Changxing was upon him, delivering a diagonal slash with eight parts force, reserving two parts for contingencies.

The survivor's heart tightened, realizing his opponent's power was beyond his imagination, showing a determined fierce expression, he attacked Su Changxing with a full swing, a do-or-die move.

His swinging speed was quick, seemingly accelerated, but Su Changxing's speed was even quicker.

Swish~

Su Changxing neatly stabbed the blade into his forehead, gripping his wrist restraining the axe.

Due to the Split Head, he seemed to grow accustomed to targeting enemy heads.

"The Chopper's ability is to accelerate swinging? It seems similar to Chenxi's Superpower User, yet there should be other abilities not displayed."

Su Changxing analyzed and judged, withdrawing the Steel Saber as the body fell limply, life extinguished in its eyes.

The voice of the head echoed, "There seem to be quite a few above, many dead as well."

Su Changxing frowned slightly; evidently this was some group's base, yet the Hunters had discovered it.

Standing downstairs, cries echoed from above, laden with terror and tragedy. After a moment's silence, he scaled the outer wall, climbing upwards, as the sounds from above grew clearer.

"Stop shouting; keep it up, and you'll all die."

A cold harsh voice silenced the area above instantly, but there were still suppressed wails, from women, men, and even children.

Inside, one voice jested, "Why not chop their legs, prevent escape, saves us tying them up."

"Hmm, but fewer will survive that, we won't complete the mission."
