Racing against the Undead Tide.
Although Su Changxing's speed was already fast enough, he still couldn't catch up; more than ten zombies had already closed in on the wooden door ahead.
Su Changxing pulled the pin and threw a flashbang into the group of zombies in front, simultaneously turning his head, covering his eyes with his arm, and closing his eyes.
Intense white light filled every corner around them, like daylight, and the zombies' screams heightened by eight degrees due to the flashbang.
Just as Su Changxing expected, the dozens of zombies that were originally closing in on the wooden door suddenly turned back towards the flashbang, creating an opening that gave Su Changxing an opportunity.
Taking advantage of the situation, Su Changxing rushed towards the wooden door along the edge of the building, raising his gun to aim at a few zombies blocking the path.
"Bang~"
"Bang~"
"Bang~"
He fired three shots in a row, hitting all three targets.
The difficulty of shooting while moving was high, but Su Changxing only fired when he was close enough to the target.
The zombies' heads exploded under the impact of the bullets, forming a fist-sized hole. Flesh and shattered bones scattered, and black, foul-smelling blood splattered on Su Changxing's face.
This handgun had a fifty percent damage increase against zombie-type creatures, plus an additional twenty-five percent damage increase from the Head Splitting Talent, creating terrifying destructive power.
Su Changxing's eyebrows slightly twitched; he didn't expect the power to be this great, as if he wasn't holding an ordinary semi-automatic handgun but something akin to a Desert Eagle or a hand cannon.
This power seemed truly unscientific, as if wielding a slingshot like a sniper.
Even Head Splitting was surprised, "Your handgun is quite impressive, not only being able to shoot in this world but also having such a significant power increase... Comparable to a Gunman's ability."
Su Changxing rushed through the wooden door in one breath, closing it behind him. Instantly, several thuds sounded, and several cracks appeared.
This door probably wouldn't hold for long.
"Whoosh~"
Su Changxing instinctively ducked as an arrow grazed past his ear, embedding in the wooden door behind him.
An arrow?
Su Changxing looked down the hallway and saw several dark figures moving at the end.
These were probably the survivors.
"Whoosh whoosh~"
Two more arrows shot from the darkness.
The accuracy of the arrows was poor; one only grazed the edge while the other missed entirely, hitting the wall instead.
Su Changxing didn't fire back; the distance was too far for accurate shooting, wasting bullets. Shooting from closer range was the best option.
Dodging the arrows, he charged forward, but by the time he approached, the survivors had already fled.
In an instant, a loud crash came from behind as the wooden door was broken by zombies, shattering into pieces. A large swarm of zombies poured in, quickly filling the hallway.
"They're way too fast now."
Su Changxing frowned, feeling like these zombies were energized, moving faster than before.
Head Splitting explained, "They've been enhanced by the Lady of the House's ability, making them faster."
Su Changxing tossed another flashbang into the middle of the hallway, turned around, and headed down the stairs to the underground.
As he neared the stairs, Head Splitting said, "There are four people ambushed below, one hiding in the hallway, three behind the walls."
Su Changxing didn't expect Head Splitting to have a radar-like ability. He asked, "Can you sense the passage leading outside on the underground level?"
Head Splitting replied, "I can't. I can only sense living beings."
Su Changxing noticed that these survivors had become more aggressive since the Lady of the House arrived; they used to avoid fighting.
Head Splitting whispered, "He's just down the hallway on the next level."
Su Changxing saw him through the gaps in the hallway.
[Half Twisted Humans: Non-Power User, Healthy, Terrified]
Terror?
"So, these survivors are being forced to fight."
Su Changxing leaped over the railing, slashing at the survivor in mid-air. His immense strength and speed sent the survivor and the blade flying.
A red line of blood appeared on the survivor's neck.
Without a second glance, Su Changxing quickly pulled the pin and threw a flashbang down the hallway.
"Ah~"
Screams echoed from the hallway.
However, due to mental preparedness, only one survivor was affected.
As the bright light faded, Su Changxing charged into the hallway, seeing a struggling survivor covering his eyes. He raised his hand, ending the threat with a single shot.
A dark-skinned survivor peeked out of a room, holding a crossbow aimed at Su Changxing.
With adrenaline surging, Su Changxing was keenly aware, his brain functioning at high speed, calculating every move countless times to make the most efficient choice.
Facing the incoming crossbow arrow, he didn't dodge. Instead, he raised one hand to shield his chest while the other aimed the gun at the survivor, firing.
If he dodged, he wouldn't be able to shoot immediately, wasting more time.
Time equaled life now; he preferred to risk injury to quickly deal with the survivor.
"Bang~"
A bloody hole appeared in the survivor's head as he fell.
A crossbow arrow pierced through Su Changxing's hand, blood dripping from the arrowhead onto the ground.
Hearing a noise from the right room, Su Changxing aimed at the doorway, estimating where the person would emerge, and fired preemptively.
"Bang~"
The survivor, who had just burst through the door, collided with the bullet, which pierced his forehead. He then fell, hitting his head on the ground, dead.
Su Changxing gritted his teeth, pulling the crossbow arrow from his hand as he ran down the hallway; he guessed the passage should be near the end of this corridor.
After half a minute of searching, he found a room filled with pipes and saw a broken grate, then noticed a smashed open ventilation duct.
Su Changxing thought aloud, "This should be the way out. Did you sense any woman, Head Splitting?"
Head Splitting said, "No, do you have another companion? Perhaps she abandoned you and ran... And don't call me Head Splitting; my name is Carl."
Su Changxing decisively crouched and crawled into the duct. At this point, he slightly relaxed; he at least had an escape route now, all he had to do was keep running forward.
The harsh clanging of boots on the duct echoed loudly in the passageway, causing Su Changxing's mind to buzz. After running for over ten minutes, he finally saw a faint light ahead.
The sound of dripping water reached his ears as Su Changxing exited the ventilation duct into the sewer system. He saw four or five corpses on the ground. Some were Jackal's people; others were survivors.
There had been a fierce battle here. It looked like Jackal had won.
The sewer extended in both directions, but Su Changxing couldn't determine his location. However, the sewer's muddy ground showed various footprints in different sizes.
Su Changxing pondered momentarily and then decided to follow the side with more footprints.
