Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 164: King of Knights [20] - Fight

Its long tongue popped out of its mouth as it hissed, seemingly searching for its next prey.

Liora could sense that the beast's towering appearance was not the only thing terrifying about it.

The aura it exuded would also bring terror to mortals and Knights alike, as it possessed the strength of a Great Knight.

Coupled with the advantages of a strong physical body and peculiar abilities, this snake would be able to easily overwhelm Marquis Lavender, a Great Knight who was close to becoming a King of Knights.

Snakes usually search for their prey using their extraordinary sense of smell. This beast, seemingly evolved from one, also possessed that characteristic.

Yet, although Liora stood only a few tens of meters away from it—a small distance considering its powerful strength—the Snake Beast failed to notice her arrival.

Of course, this was not because the Snake Beast's smell had suddenly deteriorated, but because a pale domain surrounded Liora's figure.

Silent Domain—a domain that erased any sound while concealing the user's presence and making it difficult for one to detect them.

Shrouded in the domain, even Lesser Devils would have trouble detecting Liora, much less a mere mindless beast.

"Finally, I've discovered something worth my efforts...", Liora whispered, having spent hours to find a beast with such strength.

After expanding her consciousness and making sure that there were no other powerful beasts nearby, she finally took action.

She didn't step forward.

Instead, still shrouded in the Silent Domain, she ignited her Life Seed, burning her vitality to obtain power.

Then, she used the Knight skill that Marquis Lavender had once failed to activate—Amethyst Swordsfall.

Under Liora's command, purple Life Force poured out of her Life Seed and then out of her body, gathering in the air before her.

Slowly but surely, the Life Force took the form of a gigantic purple sword, which soon shot out.

In the blink of an eye, the sword appeared above the Snake Beast, as if teleporting.

It was only then that the snake noticed that someone was targeting it.

Staring at the gigantic purple sword floating above it and feeling the dangerous aura that it exuded, the Snake Beast instinctively wanted to evade the attack.

However, before it could do so, Liora's mind moved.

The sword lit up, and purple light fell down from it, washing over the snake's body and locking it in place.

Then, its sharp edge reflected the rising sun's light, and it descended, like a meteor smashing onto the Earth.

The Snake Beast was unable to dodge or defend.

Its hard scales were easily pierced through by the sword's tip, which continued going through its flesh before finally nailing it to the ground.

Feeling the pain assaulting its mind and seeing the blood flowing out of its wound, the Snake Beast couldn't help but raise its head in anger.

Its mouth opened wide, and it let out a loud hiss, its high-pitched voice spreading throughout the forest.

Any beast listening to this noise froze in their tracks.

Like a mortal meeting their King, they collapsed to the ground as if they were kneeling, seemingly paying homage to the snake.

Liora was also within the snake's "attacking range".

However, its shrill voice failed to penetrate the Silent Domain, much less stun her.

Seeing that the Amethyst Swordsfall had succeeded in keeping the Snake Beast in place, Liora dashed forward, leaving flickering afterimages along her path.

She didn't activate any of her Devil abilities. Part of the reason she had come here was to test her new skills.

Therefore, she calmly raised her right hand and manipulated her Life Force.

In response to her call, the flowers in the open plain began withering in unison.

Colorful lights flew out of their remains and floated above them before transforming into beautiful petals.

Soon, a truly gorgeous scene unfolded.

Many colorful petals were floating silently in the air, and, coupled with the shining morning sun, they created a magnificent, stunning scene.

However, the Snake Beast couldn't see the beauty in this sight.

Not only because of its bloodthirsty nature, but also because it could sense a supreme murderous intent emanating from each of the petals.

To others, they looked like beautiful, harmless things, but to it—the creature facing them—the petals looked like countless sharp blades.

The thoughts of the snake were not wrong.

Only a moment later, Liora brought her hand forward.

The countless petals followed her call.

Like arrows or like a shower of stars, they fired towards the snake.

Continuous clanging noises soon echoed.

The seemingly harmless petals cut straight through the snake's scales and struck at the squishy flesh hidden beneath them.

The Snake Beast's body was indeed massive, but faced with the countless attacks coming from all directions, it ended up riddled with holes.

Blood continuously flowed out of the wounds.

Although each individual wound was not fatal, when they were all brought together, the physical and mental harm they caused to the snake was enormous.

Once again, the snake let out another powerful hiss, this time with even more anger and hatred in its voice.

Its pupils turned red.

Ignoring the purple sword nailing it to the ground and restricting its movements, it wriggled its body and attempted to break free.

The sound of flesh being ripped apart resounded.

The Snake Beast instinctively chose to give up its rear half, using the sword's edge as a tool to split its body into two.

Its actions succeeded. Though it was seriously injured as a result, it managed to break free.

Twisting its body, it turned to look at Liora and, without making any further sound, it pounced on her.

Its mouth opened wide while it was mid-air, and green mist rose from its throat, corroding the air around it.

Just when it seemed like it was about to spit out the poisonous cloud at Liora, though, she moved once again.

This time, thick branches emerged from the ground and rose up, climbing up the Snake Beast's figure.
