Things like so-called white moonlight only exist perfectly within your mind.
Once you truly get close, you can only discover numerous disparities within it.
The sun that Lin Jun yearns for is the same principle.
The blazing sun hangs high; the yellow soil on both sides of the official road has been bleached white by the sun, and the steaming heat waves distort distant sights.
These few days are considered the last bouts of midsummer's rampage. In half a month, the cold winds from the north will sweep away this annoying heat, but at the moment, the steaming heat still grills each traveler.
Dylan is riding on a brown steed, galloping along the road towards the city.
His first goal is Novid, a city three days' journey from Dumb Wind Town.
On Dylan's back, he carries a slightly bizarre-looking backpack, with three reinforced belts tightly binding shoulders and waist, securely fixed on his back, it is the scout in mimicry!
The actual luggage is stowed in the saddlebags on either side of the steed.
But at this moment, the scout that should have been tightly fastened to his back is surprisingly somewhat loose.
With one hand controlling the reins, Dylan reaches out behind him with the other hand.
The touch on his fingertips is no longer as resilient as before; rather, it feels like he's touching... dried sheepskin?
"Boss, what's up with it?"
His safety on this journey is dependent on the Puki behind him.
"Uh..." Lin Jun looks at the dehydration status on the scout panel, somewhat speechless, "Probably got wilted in the sun..."
Mushrooms dehydrate when exposed to the sun, this really makes too much sense.
It seems there's indeed some difference between a Sunstone and the real sun—at least knights haven't been dried out by a Sunstone.
Ever since arriving in this world, it's been magic power all day long, making Lin Jun almost believe magic power is almighty.
Thought as long as there was no shortage of magic power, Puki would stay healthy.
Apparently not...
Under the tree's shadow, Dylan unscrews a water pouch, pouring water slowly on the scout's mushroom cap.
Clear water seeps into the gaps of the scale armor, and after absorbing the water, the scout clearly seems much spirited.
This makes Dylan breathe a sigh of relief, as he had feared it wouldn't perk up even after rehydrating.
Looks okay for now.
But...
Dylan looks at the dwindling water resources—gotta find a place to resupply.
Forget the city, it's still far.
Have a look around for any nearby streams or villages to get some water.

Dumb Wind Town, the Adventurer's Guild after its reconstruction.
This gray limestone building formed by three surrounding towers rises from the former ruins.
Perhaps to restore adventurers' faith in the guild, the guild hall is twice as large as before.
In the hall's center, ten beams with engravings of Purple Crystal Dungeon's various ecosystem levels support the dome of the hall.
Though due to some recent ecological changes in the dungeon, the first few beams reportedly need re-engraving.
The entire east wall has been transformed into a three-tier suspended task board. Under the array's effect, tasks of various levels rotate automatically in a glass case, reflecting the blood-red insignia on bounty notices onto the armor of the adventurers passing by.
"Hey handsome, long time no see, place your identity card here." Helena gazes at the three young people in front, her lips curling into a professional smile.
A bit surprised at the flame-haired lady behind the reception desk remembering him, the young man handed over his identity card half a beat slower.
This fleeting pause of half a second was precisely captured by one of his companions.
One of the young girls frowned slightly, reaching out directly to intercept the metal ID card lingering in mid-air, placing it onto the counter for him.
The young people were none other than Vera and her companions returning after wandering outside for over two months.
During this time, although they hadn't entered the dungeon, they weren't idle either.
They attempted working as caravan guards.
Having faced life-and-death crises twice in a row during their time as dungeon adventurers, it indeed made them reconsider.
Thought maybe they could change paths; being caravan guards may earn less but surely wouldn't be as dangerous?
Unexpectedly, this endeavor left all three of them terribly exhausted.
They didn't find long journeys arduous; goblin attacks on the caravan didn't scare them.
What truly made them unable to continue were the people within the caravan.
Or more accurately, the caravan leader's chubby son.
The little fatty, in his twenties, barely reached Copper Level.
Not much skill but plenty of lust.
Throughout the escort route, he often harassed the two sisters.
But how could Fei Ling and Fei Yin fancy such trash!
Limited by identity relations, they could only try to avoid him as much as possible.
As his pursuit failed, that loser resorted to sinister means—drugging them.
And then was immediately seen through by Fei Yin.
Ever since Fei Yin suffered from drug powder at the raider's hands, she's been cramming knowledge on such things.
The crappy commonplace anesthetic the fatty used, how could it not be detected by Fei Yin.
This changed the nature of the situation; it couldn't be passed off as harassment.
Vera and the three gave him a thorough beating, Fei Ling being the harshest, kicked out two of the fatty's front teeth.
The uproar naturally caught the attention of others in the caravan, eventually escalating to a tense standoff between Vera's group and the caravan leader's gang.
The thing was, the leader's son was so vile, most people in the caravan didn't take sides either for Vera or for the leader.
The matter was left unresolved, but Vera's group couldn't stay in the caravan guard anymore.
They had barely reached a city when the leader tossed their docked wages at them, chasing them away like Plague Gods.
This experience as caravan guards turned out terribly vexing.
It got to the point where all three were disinterested in joining another caravan.
In contrast, the risks faced as adventurers seemed not so hard to accept anymore.
Thus the trio decided together to return to Dumb Wind Town, and pick up the rather promising profession of adventurers once more.
However, the new Dumb Wind Town seemed just a bit different from before.
Upon leaving the guild, they found the familiar Rotten Willow Tavern closed, so they just randomly found a diner in the street to eat.
"Boss, what's this?" Vera looks at the bowl of eerily glowing thick soup in his hand, asking the owner.
The boss, somewhat displeased, glanced at Vera, replying impatiently, "Didn't you ask for the cheapest meal deal? That's mushroom soup."
"Mushrooms!?"
After the owner's words, Vera gradually linked the soup's color to those glowing mushrooms on the fifth layer.
"Come on... Is this edible?"
He looked up at the sisters sitting opposite; neither had touched their spoons, both waiting for him to eat first...
The food that's sold shouldn't make you puke, right?
Scooped a spoonful and stuffed it into his mouth.
The taste!
Surprisingly very ordinary...
Not delicious but not hard to eat either, slightly bland, probably due to the boss skimping on salt.
Vera kept shoveling spoonfuls into his mouth and suddenly realized the two opposite still hadn't started eating.
"It's palatable enough, why aren't you eating?"
Seeing Fei Ling and Fei Yin staring at him, Vera somewhat belatedly wiped his mouth.
His hand was glowing...
