Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 81: Not Me It's My Bag

Dylan now feels immense pressure.

Physically.

The Noble Knight simply brought his sword down normally, and Dylan nearly couldn't withstand it, forced into a semi-kneeling position.

He seized the gap as the knight raised his sword again, rolling away like a donkey.

"With just this bit of skill, you dare to play the hero?"

After the initial encounter, the Noble Knight had gauged the strength of the adventurer before him.

Weak!

Other than being slightly faster, there was nothing commendable about him.

"Are you ready to die?"

[Phantom Clone]

[Ice Cone Skill]

Dylan clearly realized the disparity in strength. While the Noble Knight was talking nonsense, he decisively used both equipment together.

The three Dylans formed a fan-shaped encirclement around the Noble Knight, with three ice cones forming in front of each Dylan.

"Skill Equipment? What a lot of tricks!"

The sudden counterattack did not fluster the Noble Knight. He stabbed his knight's sword into the ground and flipped up a large mass of soil towards the front.

The soil passed through, not making the phantom disappear but merely gliding through.

The Noble Knight's eyes instantly locked onto the three real ice cones flying in from the left.

[Block Level 6]

The sound of ice shattering on the knight's sword rang out twice in quick succession. He was unable to block all of them in the tight time frame.

The last ice cone hit his chest, forcing the Noble Knight back three steps before he regained his balance.

The ice cone fell to the ground, shattering into several pieces, while the knight's previously pristine chest armor now bore an unsightly dent.

The Noble Knight's face was sullen, his grip on the sword intensifying, veins bulging visibly on his neck, anger clearly visible to the naked eye.

Angry enough that he didn't even bother with trash talk.

[Charge Level 5]

[Vortex Slash Level 6]

He surprisingly combined these two skills perfectly. In a rush, Dylan only had time to use [Block].

As a result, he was knocked along with his sword into a backward roll twice.

When he got up again, he had turned into a green mycelium person.

"Freak?" This actually made the Noble Knight pause for a moment.

"No, a Demon Race spy."

No matter what Dylan was, he would cut off this head and tell those above that he had slain a Demon Race spy; a free credit.

Facing the pressing knight, Dylan showed no fear.

In the local network.

"Boss?"

"Boss, help!"

The knight charged in with big strides, slashing down with a sword.

"Die!"

A backpack strap shot out from behind Dylan, slicing across the knight's right hand, drawing a fine blood line in the air.

The knight's sword slammed to the ground, and the big guy looked down to find the tendons in his right hand had been severed.

If not for the armor, his whole hand might have been gone.

But he hadn't managed to see what had attacked him?

The adventurer was still the same adventurer, looking feeble and weak.

Yet somehow, his... backpack was standing on the ground.

Huh?

The backpack strap struck again, and the knight hurriedly blocked it.

However, two fists could not fend off four hands. Moreover, he only had one hand now, with wounds accumulating on his body.

This couldn't continue; he would be depleted to death!

He halted his backward steps and kicked forward.

[Charge Level 5]

The prepared scout bent down.

[Mushroom Cannon Level 8]

The knight flew backwards directly, his chest armor shattered completely, blurred with blood and flesh.

He crashed to the ground, hardly breathing.

"Boss, why didn't you act sooner?"

The scout jumped behind Dylan, hopped back onto his back, as the mimicry mycelium tentacle of the backpack strap automatically tied around.

"You were so brave; I thought you could handle it."

Dylan awkwardly chuckled twice in embarrassment.

"Oh right, the girl!"

He turned to look back, but there was no sign of the girl at all.

???

"Stop looking; others are smarter than you. She slipped away as soon as you started fighting, probably already reached the village.

Now the question is…"

Dylan stared at the knight barely alive there, who also looked back at him.

That gaze seemed to be pleading?

Mycelium tentacles shot out, slicing his throat in the knight's fearful eyes.

Lin Jun continued, "Now the question is, how to handle this corpse."

Watching the still struggling "corpse," Dylan was troubled.

If it were Dylan who died, just an ordinary adventurer, probably no one would care about this.

But this on the ground was a noble knight, not handling the corpse properly would likely invite considerable trouble.

"Boss, can't you make him grow some mushrooms and vanish?"

"What are you thinking? This isn't the Underground City.

Mushrooms can grow, but natural decomposition takes more than ten days.

Being discovered early would instead leave clues."

Thinking hard, Dylan seemed to find no better solution than to throw the corpse into the forest, at least not leaving it so obvious by the roadside.

He painstakingly dragged the knight into the woods, where he disposed of him in a dense bush.

However, before leaving...

Dylan bent over, skillfully searching the motionless knight.

Soon, a purse, a small package, and a pendant were fished out by Dylan.

The pendant remained intact from the Mushroom Cannon blast, though stuck in the bloody chest; it must be something good.

The purse contained 18 gold coins and some change, all gladly taken by Dylan.

As for the package...

Dylan pulled out a beautifully decorated letter with a wax seal from inside.

"Take a look?" The boss immediately suggested.

Dylan nodded, reaching to tear the envelope.

"So hot!"

No sooner had the envelope corner been torn open than flames erupted from within, reduced to floating black ashes before Dylan could react.

"Oh no, meaning you've killed a courier with a secret letter; Dylan, you're doomed!"

"Huh? Didn't you kill him, boss? And did the final strike too!"

"Then go tell others! Tell them the backpack killed him, not you! Trust me, noble justice might believe your nonsense."

"Damn…"

It wasn't over, the boss continued striking:

"Without the secret letter courier, they will search relentlessly and eventually reach this village.

And the girl you saved will sell you out for a gold coin.

Your wanted poster will soon be plastered all over town, and upon returning from the Archipelago, you'll be surrounded as soon as you get off the ship.

Finally, on the chopping block, heroic Dylan and his magical backpack will be executed together.

Congratulations on achieving the good ending!"

Gulp —

Dylan wanted to rebut but felt increasingly likely...

"Actually, there's another way."

The boss's voice sounded sinister, but it undeniably reignited Dylan's hope.

"What is it?"

"Go back to the village now, and together we'll finish off everyone who's seen you! Then no one can report you!"

Dylan looked back at his backpack in horror: "Boss, are you serious?"

"Of course, I'm kidding.

It's just so troublesome, better hide back in the Underground City now.

Dylan, trust me, I can make you unrecognizable even to your daughter!"

"..."

Dylan did not feel this was a good idea at all.

He looked up at the sky.

How did it come to this?

All he did was rescue a girl...
