Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 121: Poker Cards

Ah Di, who was busy cleaning the stationery on Lin Xuan Qi's writing desk, heard his sister and he got to the main hall as fast as he could.

When he saw the candied hawthorn sticks, his eyes gleamed with happiness.

"Here, take one." Lin Xuan Qi passed one of the sticks to Ah Di and said.

Ah Di held the stick of candied hawthorn, bowed at him and said, "Thank you so much, Master Lin."

Lin Xuan Qi glanced at him with a smile when he saw Ah Di, who was still a young boy, couldn't wait and took a huge bite of the candied hawthorn.

Everyone gave out a burst of laughter when they saw Ah Di's face squirm like Yue Jie and Yue Xin did earlier.

Xue Cong lightened up a bit when she saw Ah Di's reaction.

Maybe Master Lin had only wanted to prank everyone. She thought.

After all, he used to prank her and the others that he wasn't the master of the mansion when she met him.

This thought made her happy for a moment.

"Your turn." Lin Xuan Qi held a candied hawthorn stick in front of her.

Xue Cong frowned and took the stick from him.

She took a small bite out of it and surprisingly, the sourness did nothing to her.

Lin Xuan Qi was disappointed with the result.

Before he could try and persuade her to take a bigger bite, a familiar voice came from the side.

"Candied hawthorn sticks? They are my favorite." Liu Shi Shi came over to him and took the last remaining stick of candied hawthorn from him.

Lin Xuan Qi shook his head and kept quiet when he saw her bite and munch on two candied hawthorns.

"What the...??!!! It's so sour!" Liu Shi Shi shouted.

It was so sour that she closed her eyes, and the features of her face seemed like they were being squashed together.

Her body couldn't help but shake from it.

"Well, I would have warned you." Lin Xuan Qi said and shrugged his shoulders.

Liu Shi Shi's eyebrows twitched while she fumed at him.

Why can't he treat her like how he treats Xue Cong, Yue Jie and Yue Xin? She thought.

"I will have my chance to get back at you." She said and stormed out of the main hall.

"I was just kidding." Lin Xuan Qi shouted at her, not sure if he had gone too far.

She waved at him, and shouted, "I'll be back for dinner after checking on the prowling guards."

He nodded his head and was glad that she was doing her job well, even exceeding his expectations.

Things were moving along so well indeed.

"Dinner is ready, Master Lin." Auntie Sue, who was standing outside the main hall this whole time, took the opportunity to interject and said.

Lin Xuan Qi nodded and said, "Just in time. Let's go, I'm starving."

He was full of cheer from the deal with Hun Xiong Kun, and his appetite was good.

Dinner couldn't have come at a better time.

...

It was a sumptuous dinner and Lin Xuan Qi had more than usual.

Xue Cong felt just as happy as he was.

It had been a long while since she saw him being carefree and in such a great mood.

"Do you want another bowl of rice?" She asked when she saw him finish the bowl of rice he had.

He shook his head and said, "I'm full. I'll be at the study room."

Xue Cong nodded and glanced at Ah Di, "Go and prepare everything for Master Lin."

Ah Di stood up and left for the study room without questions.

Lin Xuan Qi also did the same and followed closely behind.

"Si and Xu come clear the table." Xue Cong instructed the servants under her, and they quickly got to work.

While they cleared up the dining table, Xue Cong heard Yue Xin whisper to her, "Sister Xue Cong... Since Master Lin is in such a good mood, do you think he is going to... give us lessons later?"

Yue Xin's eyes darted in the direction of the study room while she said so.

"Oh no..." That reminded Xue Cong, and she exclaimed in fear.

Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to get Master Lin in such a good mood. She thought to herself.

Luckily for her, that wasn't what Lin Xuan Qi had in mind.

He was planning to come up with a deck of poker cards.

It would be great for him to pass the time.

There wasn't much entertainment for him except for food, and maybe the brothel?

He started to understand those young masters.

Being around with so many servant girls and nothing much to do, it was bound to happen.

Luckily for him, he had many means and ways to spend his time.

"Ah Di, help me cut up the paper into rectangle shapes that are of this size." Lin Xuan Qi said and handed Ah Di a piece of paper he had cut out beforehand.

"Master Lin, how many do you need?"

"Fifty-two."

Ah Di nodded his head and started to work on it.

In the meantime, he went to the workshop where he did the experiments and tried to find some wooden boards.

The paper was too flimsy, and he had to find something that could support it.

He found some leftovers from making the molds of the soap and he wanted to start to cut them to the correct size.

Crack.

However, he wasn't too proficient with the handsaw, and he had to seek help from Old Shao.

Old Shao was more than happy to do so.

He hadn't been able to work on his carpentry after creating the molds for the soap.

These few days he was only able to help Zhi Yong with the heavy work in the mansion.

"Master Lin, I can't thank you enough for giving me a chance to atone for my mistake." Old Shao said while he worked on the wooden board.

Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head and said, "It is nothing and you have more than proved your worth with the mold for the soap."

Old Shao was glad to hear that.

His hands stopped and he glanced at Lin Xuan Qi,

"You know, I'm old. Hope you don't mind if I ask. What do you think about Xue Cong?"
