Lee He Song took a whiff from his wine cup and chuckled.
"Sure, why not." He saw that the stances Lin Xuan Qi had practiced were something he had never seen before.
They weren't from any of the common martial arts sects.
It wouldn't hurt to learn something new even at this age, Lee He Song thought.
Lin Xuan Qi was glad at his reply and said, "We can start after I'm done for the day."
There were many things for him to accomplish first.
He had to make sure the supplies of clamshells, lard and crop stalks would be back to normal.
And he wasn't going to let the other servants and guards know about the Daoist Five-Element Cultivation Techniques.
They would have to practice it somewhere secluded like his lab.
"Master Lin, me wait in mansion."
Zhi Yong and Lee He Song nodded to his suggestion.
After breakfast, Lin Xuan Qi left with Lee He Song and headed to the factories.
The streets were now in a state between being back to normal and stuck in chaos.
Pedestrians went on their way amidst the debris and new beggars.
"Hands for hire! I was an ironsmith for the Heng Ironsmith shop..."
"I can make shoes! Hire me sir."
"Please stop, have some pity for me."
Some of the new beggars tried to beg or seek employment from the pedestrians.
When they saw Lin Xuan Qi's horse carriage passing by, they swarmed around it before being chased away by the guards.
Peering out of the horse carriage window, Lin Xuan Qi saw them.
It was such a pity to him that such an abundance of labor was now idle, either due to their business being destroyed or their bosses being slain by the rebels.
He thought about it and felt that he would be able to employ them cheaply.
But first, he needed to get the business back up and running.
Luckily for him, the butchers were back at work, with some adventurous farmers already sending supplies into the city.
He was able to arrange for the lard to be sent to the factory the next day.
The crop stalk was in abundance due to the harvesting as it was already near autumn.
"Thank you, master."
"You are such a savior for us."
"I wouldn't know how to pay for the autumn tax without you."
The farmers knelt and praised him to the heavens when he arranged for the supplies to continue from tomorrow onwards.
Their praise reminded him of something.
He had to pay for the autumn tax too.
Maybe he could make a suggestion to the Governor so that the tax could be waived off for him.
After he knew the price of the spirit herb, every little copper coin counted.
Lastly, they went over to where the fishmongers congregated.
Lin Xuan Qi got out of his horse carriage and approached one of them.
The fishmonger was glad to see him when he told the fishmonger of his intention.
They used to discard the clamshells until he came along, and it was a great boost for their income.
Some of them were worried that something might have happened to him.
And now, with him back, they could make the same amount of money.
"I might need to have a supply of kelp in the near future."
Lin Xuan Qi said to the fishmonger after he negotiated the prices for the supply of the clamshells.
But to his surprise, the fishmonger's expression was confusing.
"Kelp? I've never heard of anything like that." The fishmonger shook his head while he replied.
"You've not heard of it."
"Yeah, I'm positive of it, let me check with the others." The fishmonger turned to his side and shouted down the street filled with other fishmongers, "Anyone heard of kelp before?"
There was chatter among themselves lasting for a few moments.
When it died down and the street turned silent again, the fishmongers shouted and said, "No, we have never heard of it."
Lin Xuan Qi frowned and nodded his head.
They might call kelp another name in the Da Qian Dynasty, or it was not available in the surrounding areas of Hong Feng City.
Either way, he might have to take a trip to the seaside if he wanted to come up with his improvised form of MSG.
"Thanks." Lin Xuan Qi thanked the fishmonger and went on his way.
He left and checked on the factories to inform them of the good news.
"Thank you, Master Lin."
"I'm dying to work."
"We can work through the night if you need us to."
The workers were bored out of their minds, and they felt bad eating the food and living in the worker quarters that Lin Xuan Qi provided without working for it.
Lin Xuan Qi shook his head and said, "There's more work than you can handle if the next batch does well enough."
Right now, the rich clans and families who were unscathed from the turmoil were making a killing buying off assets on the cheap.
They now had more money and nowhere to spend it.
And his soap being luxurious and not having any supplies would be highly sought after by the young mistresses.
He even expected that there would be a secondary market for it.
Scalpers would be selling the soap off at a higher price.
Lin Xuan Qi didn't mind it for now if they pushed up the prices and demand.
It would be beneficial to the brand in the long run.
After he was done briefing the workers, Lin Xuan Qi decided to go back to the mansion for lunch.
All in all, it was a fruitful morning for him.
Everything went smoothly except for the kelp.
...
Back at the mansion, Xue Cong was directing the servants in their daily chores.
Yue Jie worked on another new set of clothes for Lin Xuan Qi.
She thought that he had too little and with the clan expanding, he needed something that would be worthy of his status.
This time she spared no budget to make something that would match what the other young masters had.
Yue Xin had her hands on her hips, while she supervised the servants under her.
"Master Lin!"
