F-ranker Sword Saint: My Soulbound Sword is Secretly SSS-tier!

Chapter 87: The Lying Beauty

For the rest of the day, Daru only continued hunting the Swordspawns of the Somber Swamp, having an unexpectedly peaceful time after being hunted down by two Veshari parties.

He didn't know what was brewing behind the scenes, but he welcomed their challenge.

Daru leveled up to thirty-three today, allocating three attribute points to perception, then one each to dexterity and agility.

He decided that since he's in Veshara and would likely be fighting a lot of Veshari, prioritizing the Perception attribute would be best.

Currently, he was looking for a safe hiding spot, but while doing so, he suddenly remembered something.

'Ah, right…'

There was no need for him to hide his true appearance here, was there? After all, for the Veshari, every human is an enemy.

It didn't matter whether he was Onimaru Kunitsuna or Otsuna.

Daru reached for the Oni Mask, planning to remove it when an idea popped into his mind.

He then temporarily left it on.

'Let's fight a few more Veshari before trying that…'

Maybe he would meet the SS-ranker, Ae'shkar, again? So, Daru decided to simply continue looking for a safe hiding place, locating another well-hidden mangrove in the middle of many other mangroves.

He double-checked if the area was safe first before spreading the roots open.

Only after confirming it was a good hiding location did he enter, exiting the realm a moment later.

Once again, Daru managed to exit on time. There were still a few people left in the classroom.

However, the goon squad was already gone.

He noticed there was a reminder on the whiteboard to arrive at the sixth training field at least twenty minutes before the afternoon swordsmanship class.

Inwardly acknowledging the post, Daru stood up and left, heading to the academy canteen to have lunch, returning to his dormitory room to prepare, then proceeding to the sixth training field for his afternoon classes.

There were a few strange people donning gray polo shirts and black pants occupying a few benches in both outdoor dojos.

They seemed to be preparing for something—even bringing a few apparatuses with them.

Daru only glanced at them for a moment before going about his business, putting his training bag down at one of the empty benches, retrieving a training tachi, and heading over to his training partner, who was already busy striking a dummy.

He immediately greeted Iris upon arrival, going through their awkward-looking bowing routine before proceeding to strike the dummy next to hers.

Around fifteen minutes before the start time of the afternoon classes, the instructors arrived, strangely together.

They temporarily ignored their confused students, heading over to the strange personnel in their respective outdoor dojos and shaking their hands.

Only then did they call for everyone to line up.

Daru and Iris bowed at each other, bidding temporary goodbyes and promising to train again together later before heading over to their appropriate positions.

Soon, each class was in proper formation, with the instructors and the strange personnel in front.

"Everyone, I apologize for cutting your breaks early." Talon began. "The world government reached out to the academy today for an important matter."

The instructor then paused mysteriously for a moment before continuing:

"You all have probably heard of the name Onimaru Kunitsuna."

The class instantly burst into enthusiastic commotion.

Of course, who hadn't heard of Lord Onimaru?!

"The government has decided that every bladeborn must be properly registered, regardless of one's talents, so they've dispatched these people here to perform a few tests on everyone. Please cooperate to the best of your abilities."

Talon then turned to the world government's personnel.

"You may proceed."

The leader of the specific team assigned to Class 70—a black-haired woman in her late twenties, nodded in appreciation.

She then checked her list and called the first student.

Carl, a brave novice who decided to continue his career as a bladeborn despite having only one life left, was instructed to sit in a special wheelchair with a monitor suspended from a thick aluminum pole attached to the back.

There were also many strange cords neatly kept in tiny pockets.

Only the government knew how costly it was to operate these chairs to achieve a maximum accuracy of 87%

Soon, Carl was seated, and the government personnel skillfully operated the apparatus chair, pouring some special liquid into what seemed to be similar to a gas tank and attaching cords to specific body parts.

The monitor then lit up, displaying Carl's record in the database.

"Krishna, seems like this one's clear…" one of the young male personnel said to the black-haired woman.

Krishna nodded.

In the next moment, she lowered her head, smiling at Carl, who then blushed slightly.

The operation team leader was quite the beauty, after all.

"Say, do you happen to know who Onimaru Kunitsuna is?"

"I…don't…" Carl answered in a somewhat absent-minded manner, snapping back to reality as the sides of the monitor suddenly lit up green.

"Ah, I see. Thanks for cooperating, then. You may return to the class formation."

The young student then exhaled in relief as he stood up, a bit reluctant to leave the side of the gorgeous big sister.

Unfortunately, the next student was already waiting, so Carl had no choice but to return to his position in the formation.

The same thing happened over and over.

Their identities and registration were confirmed almost instantaneously through the monitor, and then they would be asked if they knew who Onimaru Kunitsuna was.

The students weren't dumb.

They instantly realized that the apparatus chair was partly a lie detector.

Fortunately, they didn't have to lie, as they truly didn't know who Onimaru Kunitsuna was.

One student after another was tested. Around fifteen minutes later, only five haven't been called—Daru included.

He was naturally in a deep frown since earlier.

He didn't know whether he should admit his true identity, finding the mere thought of being followed around by government and guild agents rather annoying.

Daru preferred to keep his identity a secret…

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way out of the situation. He could only answer yes once it was his turn.

Or he could test the apparatus's effectiveness, though Daru wasn't too fond of lying.

The names of his classmates were called, until finally, it was his turn.

Daru sighed, heading over to the apparatus.

Then, once he was seated, the personnel performed the necessary preparations.

The monitor then lit up a moment later, displaying his trial name, Omaru, and the necessary information about him.

There was nothing much, really.

The dreaded moment eventually arrived.

Krishna leaned closer and smiled at Daru, which the latter only found annoying.

He would've been able to live a carefree bladeborn life, had it not been for this woman…

But then, just when words were about to leave her mouth, one of the personnel who was responsible for Class 69 rushed over, stuttering and bewildered.

"T-T-TEAM LEADER!! S-SOMEONE FROM CLASS 69 KNOWS!!"

The eyes of the majority, including Instructor Talon, widened.

There were twenty-eight bladeborn academies in the entire Neo-Earth.

How could they have expected that someone in their academy would know the identity of the mysterious novice?!

Everyone turned to Class 69 to see who was in the apparatus chair.

There Iris was, panicking with the facial expression of an underwear thief caught in the act as the light of the suspended monitor buzzed a glaring red.
