Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent

Chapter 69: Beast Lord

Logan's Ward

The once quiet room was now noisy.

Dozens of pets and birds filled the room, sitting and flying around the erratically moving Logan.

At the same time, the room was crowded with people, including the owners of the pets and curious onlookers who had come to observe the commotion.

Chattering filled the room as everyone was confused about the boy's condition, and even more confused about why so many animals were standing around him so obediently.

The first middle-aged healer who had come to check on him earlier now stood among five others, all of them just as puzzled. None could figure out what was wrong with the struggling young man.

From what they could tell, his sudden movements seemed to be related to his talent. The animals surrounding him made this clear.

They had also figured out that Logan was an awakener with a very low-ranked talent, somewhat related to beast taming. Yet his talent should not be capable of controlling so many beasts at once—there was only one explanation.

"Clear the way…"

At that moment, a loud voice barked from the entrance of the ward, drawing everyone's attention toward a beautiful black-haired middle-aged woman whom they recognized immediately.

"Isn't that Mrs. Gray Wolfe, owner of Grayfield Cosmetics…?" someone whispered.

"What is such a figure doing here?" another asked.

As the crowd parted for her, murmurs of surprise filled the room.

Mrs. Gray Wolfe ignored them and walked toward the struggling boy, her expression twisting with sadness as she saw him in that state.

She was confused by the number of animals gathered around him, but her concern for his life was her main priority.

"What is happening to my son?" she asked the healers, her voice filled with worry. They responded quickly, explaining their inability to determine his exact condition.

Meanwhile, the crowd in the room began to whisper among themselves.

"The Wolfe family has a son like this?" a man asked, eyes wide.

"Impossible, he has never appeared on any media platform before," another replied.

"The boy looks kind of familiar though. I've seen him somewhere, but I can't remember where," a young woman wearing baggy clothes muttered.

Once again, they were ignored by the woman, who stepped closer and placed her soft hand on Logan's forehead.

Her vision blurred as tears welled up, but she blinked them back, forcing herself to stay calm.

Has he unlocked that memory? she thought, concern etched on her face.

She asked the healers to try their best to stabilize his condition, but there was nothing they could do. According to them, they could only wait to see how it would end.

But as they were discussing, Logan's condition grew even worse.

His body twisted in stranger ways than before.

This time, his mouth moved, muttering words that were inaudible in the noisy ward.

As time went by, his words grew louder and more coherent.

"No…"

"Stay back…"

"NOOO!"

Those were the three words he repeated, fear evident in his voice that had grown even louder.

Mrs. Gray Wolfe immediately turned to the crowd, and with a stern voice, she ordered them out of the room.

Instantly, the crowd dispersed. Even though they were curious to see what would happen, none dared to disobey the order of such a person, as not only was she wealthy, she was also the wife of Gray Wolfe, a popular B-rank hunter.

"Please leave… I need time alone with my son."

After everyone had left, she ordered the five healers to leave as well.

"But ma'am… we need to be present; who knows what might happen to him?" one said.

"You'll only make matters worse with your presence, so leave."

She did not change her mind and sent them out.

Only when she was left alone in the room with Logan and the animals under his subconscious control did she step closer.

Her expression softened.

He has already unlocked that memory.

From the words he had been uttering so far, that was the only explanation.

She recalled the fateful night she found him—the gore, the mystery, and most of all, the emotions she felt when she learned what he had gone through. She had been the one to take him in and had pleaded with a psychic awakener to help block that part of his memories temporarily, allowing him to enjoy a normal childhood.

But now, it seemed the temporary block had been undone, and those memories she had tried to hide for him had revealed themselves.

With moistened eyes and trembling lips, she moved closer, holding his gaze even as his eyes remained closed.

"Logan… fight it for me, your mother," she said, her voice filled with concern, her lips trembling as the words weighed heavily on her heart.

"You're stronger now. Those memories should no longer traumatize you…" she continued.

But nothing happened.

In fact, his movements had grown even more erratic.

And then—

He stopped moving.

Her hands went to his chest to check for a heartbeat.

There was none.

She checked his pulse. The same result.

Tears filled her eyes, her heart clenching

She shivered uncontrollably.

"Logan."

She called out, desperate to wake him.

He couldn't be dead. He was only sleeping.

She called again, louder, but there was no response.

Her panic surged.

"LOGAN!"

She summoned all her strength and cried out in a voice that echoed across the compartment.

And then…

Logan's eyes fluttered open, first greeted by the white ceiling and a group of birds flying in circles above him.

Gradually, his eyes reached the weeping woman who was holding his hands, her tears falling on him.

He recognized her.

She was the woman who had adopted him and cared for him since he was eight.

While others had criticized him and mocked him for possessing a weak talent, forcing him down a path of despair, she had been the only one to give him a reason to live.

Now, with all his dark memories unlocked, and knowing all she had done—from rescuing him to preventing a traumatizing childhood—one thing was clear: she had always been the light that washed away his darkness.

Tears welled in his eyes.

His true mother…

The one who was supposed to care for him had actually thrown him away. Her curse still lingered in his mind.

How could a mother be so cruel?

"Logan…"

At that moment, Mrs. Gray lowered her body and wrapped her hands around his trembling form.

"Stop crying… I am here for you now," she said.

The warmth of her embrace, combined with her words, made Logan even more emotional, and his cries grew louder.

Tears streamed down his face as he wrapped his arms around her. He felt like a lost child who had finally found his mother after a long, painful search.

They hugged for some time. As the hug continued, the glow around Logan's body gradually dimmed, and his subconscious link with the animals in the room broke. They returned to their normal selves.

The birds flew out in disorder, and the pets banged on the door, desperate for freedom.

And at the same time:

[You've reawakened…]

[Talent: Beast Lord (A) has been awakened]

[Skills have arrived…]

These texts fluttered before his blurred vision, sending an overwhelming feeling through his heart.

Finally… his time of being a weakling was over.

But why, and how, had he reawakened?

That was a mystery he would solve later.

Almost at the same time.

Crimson arrived in her office after a stressful meeting and sat down heaving a sigh. She wondered how her brother was able to survive with meetings like these and lots of paperworks without getting stressed out.

But as she was about to relax, she found a golden envelop on her table.
