Dynasty Awakening: Building My Own Football Empire

Chapter 160: The Gold Rush and the Camera Flash

The System had updated during the night. It was the End of Season Report.

[DYNASTY DEVELOPMENT REPORT]

[SEASON: 2025/2026]

[STATUS: COMPLETE]

Michael swiped his hand through the air. The player profiles appeared. This was the moment he loved the most. It was like opening presents on Christmas morning but instead of toys he got football superpowers.

NAME: KAI SORA

OLD RATING: 83

NEW RATING: 86

STATUS: WORLD CLASS

NEW TRAIT: THE GLOBAL CONDUCTOR

DESCRIPTION: Kai can now dictate the tempo of international matches. His passing range has increased to 70 yards with 99 percent accuracy.

Michael whistled. An 86 rating. That was the same level as Bruno Fernandes or Martin Odegaard. The lazy boy who slept in the locker room was now officially one of the best midfielders on the planet.

He swiped to the next profile.

NAME: ISAIAH KING

OLD RATING: 79

NEW RATING: 82

STATUS: SOCIAL MEDIA ICON

MARKET VALUE: £110,000,000

DESCRIPTION: The Pink Boots are now a global brand. Isaiah gains a performance boost when playing in front of cameras.

"One hundred and ten million," Michael whispered. "We got him for free. That is good business."

He swiped again.

NAME: DIEGO NUNEZ

OLD RATING: 78

NEW RATING: 81

STATUS: CULT HERO

NEW TRAIT: THE IRON WALL

DESCRIPTION: Attackers playing against Diego suffer a minus 10 bravery penalty. He is technically a landmark in Yorkshire.

Michael laughed. A landmark. Diego was indeed as big as a statue and twice as hard.

Arthur Milton walked into the office. The old scout was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. It was bright yellow with blue pineapples. It hurt Michael eyes just to look at it.

"Arthur," Michael said shielding his eyes. "That shirt. It is aggressive."

"It is my holiday shirt Boss," Arthur said sitting down. "I am ready for Europe. I bought a phrasebook. I can now order a beer in seven languages."

"We are going to play football Arthur not drink beer," Michael reminded him.

"We can do both," Arthur grinned. "So Boss. The media are outside. They are like bees around a honey pot."

"Let them buzz," Michael said closing the System. "We have news for them."

The media center at Oakwell had been upgraded. Thanks to the money from Julian Thorne it now looked like a NASA control room.

The room was packed. Journalists from Sky Sports, BBC, L'Equipe, and even a Japanese TV station were there.

Michael walked in. He was followed by Jessica Sterling.

Jessica looked professional. She held a tablet and tapped it furiously.

"Okay everyone," Jessica announced. "Michael will take questions now. Please do not ask about the 8 points deduction. That is old news. We are looking forward."

A journalist from Sky Sports raised his hand.

"Michael. You qualified for the Conference League. Some people say it is a distraction. They say playing on Thursday nights in Kazakhstan will destroy your Premier League season. What do you say?"

Michael leaned into the microphone.

"I say they are jealous," Michael smiled. "Kazakhstan is beautiful. We want to see the world. We are the Misfits. We do not fit in one country anymore. We need a whole continent."

The journalists laughed.

"There are rumors about big bids," another journalist said. "Real Madrid for Arda Guler. PSG for Kai Sora. Can you keep this team together?"

"We are not a supermarket," Michael said firmly. "We do not put items on shelves. We are building a Dynasty. You do not sell the bricks of your house while you are building it."

"But every player has a price," the journalist pressed.

"Yes," Michael admitted. "But our price is not money. Our price is glory. Can PSG guarantee Kai Sora that he will be loved like he is here? Can Real Madrid let Arda Guler play in a system built just for him? No."

He looked at the camera.

"The boys are staying. We have a trophy to win."

After the press conference it was time for the chaos.

The Marketing Department (which was basically just Jessica and an intern named Bob) had organized a photoshoot for the new European Kit.

The shoot was taking place on the pitch.

The new kit was stunning. It was a deep royal purple with gold trim. It looked regal. It looked expensive.

Isaiah King was in heaven.

"Oh my days," Isaiah shouted looking at himself in the camera monitor. "I look like a king. Literally. My name is King and I look like a king. The simulation is perfect."

He was posing with a football balancing it on his neck.

"Chin up Isaiah!" the photographer shouted. "Give me fierce! Give me passion!"

Isaiah gave him Blue Steel.

Next it was Kai Sora turn.

Kai was wearing the purple kit but he refused to take off his sunglasses.

"Kai," Jessica said patiently. "It is a photoshoot. People need to see your eyes."

"My eyes are tired," Kai said. "The sun is too bright. The sunglasses are part of my brand. They stay."

"Fine," Jessica sighed. "Just try to look energetic."

Kai leaned against the goalpost. He crossed his arms. He looked like he was waiting for a bus that was three hours late.

"Perfect," the photographer said clicking away. "The mysterious genius look. I love it."

Then it was Diego Nunez turn.

This was the problem.

The photographer wanted Diego to hold a globe. A small plastic globe to represent their European adventure.

Diego held the globe in his massive hands. It looked like a marble.

"Be gentle Diego," Jessica warned. "Do not crush the world."

"I am gentle," Diego grunted. "I am holding the world like a baby."

"Okay give me a smile!" the photographer said.

Diego smiled.

It was a terrifying sight. He bared all his teeth. He looked like he was about to eat the globe.

"Maybe less teeth," the photographer suggested trembling slightly. "Just a soft smile."

Diego tried to smile softly. He looked constipated.

"This is hard," Diego complained. "I prefer tackling. Can I tackle the cameraman?"

"No!" Jessica shouted. "No tackling the staff!"

"Boring," Diego muttered.

Suddenly Erik Olsen walked onto the pitch. The Viking was also wearing the purple kit.

"Erik!" Diego shouted. "Come help me! How do you hold the world?"

Erik walked over. He took the globe from Diego. He spun it on his finger.

"It is easy," Erik said. "You just hold it."

"You are showing off," Diego said.

"Okay group photo!" Jessica yelled.

The whole squad gathered. Michael stood in the middle.

Isaiah was doing a peace sign.

Kai was looking at the sky.

Diego was flexing his biceps which were bigger than Michael head.

Erik was standing perfectly straight like a soldier.

Danny Fletcher the Captain had his arm around Tom.

The photographer clicked the button.

FLASH.

That picture would be on the back page of every newspaper tomorrow.

THE DYNASTY GOES GLOBAL.

Later that evening Michael sat in the empty locker room.

The players had gone home. The chaos was over.

He looked at the purple shirt hanging on Diego peg. It had the Conference League patch on the sleeve.

It was real.

Arthur Milton walked in. He was eating a baguette.

"I am practicing for France," Arthur said chewing. "We might play a French team."

"Arthur," Michael said. "Do you remember when we started? The locker room was falling apart. We had no money. We had no players."

"I remember," Arthur said. "I found Kai in the academy playing video games. I found Diego in a fight club in Uruguay."

"And now look at them," Michael said. "They are stars. Their faces are on billboards."

"Does it scare you Boss?" Arthur asked quietly.

"What?"

"The expectation. Before we were the underdogs. Everyone loved us because we were cute. Now we are rich. We are powerful. People will want us to fail."

Michael stood up. He walked over to the tactical board.

He picked up a marker pen.

He wrote one word on the board.

FEAR.

"They should want us to fail Arthur," Michael said. "Because if we succeed we take everything."

He drew a circle around the word.

"We are not the cute story anymore. We are the nightmare. I want them to look at the fixture list and say Oh no we have to play Barnsley."

Arthur smiled. A crumb of baguette fell on his chin.

"You are getting scary Boss," Arthur said. "I like it."

Michael laughed.

"Come on Arthur. Let us go to Luigi. I am hungry."

"Luigi made a special pizza," Arthur said excitedly as they walked out. "He calls it The Europa. It has toppings from every country."

"That sounds disgusting," Michael said.

"It is delicious," Arthur insisted. "Just do not ask what the Finnish topping is."
