Information to Mastery: Points Store System

Chapter 171: Acquiring Shares Investigate

According to Adrian, this security firm had a market value of $74 billion. Its headquarters were located in the central province, and it had several branches in major global cities.

If Michael decided to buy the shares of this company, it would be the first company that he would have a hand in, that had branches globally.

The number of employees for this company exceeded 950,000, which was quite a considerable number.

The number of shares was 370 million, with the price of each share being priced at $200.

After receiving the information on this company, Michael contemplated for a moment. Currently, his SP balance was at 105,778 points.

This was equivalent to over $10 billion. With this amount, he could get quite a substantial amount of shares from this company.

Additionally, considering that the system did not consider limitations when it came to acquiring shares of a company, he would not have any hindrance that would prevent him from getting the shares.

After some quick calculations, Michael realized that if he used his current SP balance, he could acquire 52,889,000 shares of this company, considering the price of $200 per share.

That would bring the total percentage of shares that he held to 14.295%.

After thinking for a moment, Michael decided to acquire 14% of the shares, which cost him 103,600 SP, bringing his SP balance down to 2,178 points.

As soon as he made the acquisition, Adrian quickly confirmed that the shares had changed hands within the security firm.

According to the information that Adrian had presented, it seemed that the distribution of shares was as follows. The founder held 26% of the shares, a private capital held 20%, 14% of the shares were held by the executive control trust, and with Michael acquiring some shares, he also held 14% of the shares.

Several partners of the Corporation held 10% of the shares, with internal long-term holdings shares being 6%, and minor/public float being 10% of the shares.

With Michael holding 14% of the shares, he was currently the third largest shareholder of Vanguard Corporation. The other 14%, the executive control trust shares, they were distributed between several executives. So, individually, they did not really hold that many shares.

Regardless, holding 14% of the shares, Michael had quite a say within the company.

Just a few moments after Michael had acquired the shares, he suddenly received a call. Seeing that the caller was unknown, Michael could already link what this call meant.

"Hello?" Michael received the call.

"Hello, Mr. Santos. I am Dwayne Richards, the current CEO of Vanguard Corporation. We have just confirmed that you have acquired 14% of our shares. I wonder, are you free so that you can pay a visit to the company and meet the other shareholders?" A masculine voice came through the phone's earpiece.

"Mr. Dwayne, there is no need for you to worry that much. Currently, I am not within the central province, so it is inconvenient for me to get there. But when I do get to the central province, I will definitely show up." Michael responded.

"Oh, I see. Then, may I ask, is there anything that you would like the corporation to do for you?" Dwayne asked.

It seemed that this guy had already anticipated that the acquisition of the shares had an intention behind it. And, this level of intelligence, Michael was amazed. It was no wonder that he was the CEO of such a huge corporation.

"It is quite simple actually. Within the Eastern province, there is a supermarket chain called Annex Supermarket chain. Currently, it has just begun the expansion, but several people are causing trouble.

I would like some security guards to be assigned to the stores, to make sure that the business operations are not affected. I would like them to be dispatched as soon as possible, regardless of the cost.

All the additional costs will be borne by me. So, you can just make the calculations, and the money will be transferred over." Michael replied.

There was quite a moment of silence, before Dwayne responded, "No problem, Mr. Santos. I will make arrangements for that."

After that, Michael and Dwayne talked a little longer, with Michael providing the exact details for the stores, obviously provided by Adrian. And with that, the call between them ended.

....

Vanguard Tower stood within the Central Province, a ninety-story skyscraper of black-and-silver glass and steel. A helipad crowned its peak, and armored vehicles waited in the underground garage, ready for immediate deployment.

Inside, the lobby stretched wide and minimalist, with polished stone floors and discreet security posts.

The CEO's office occupied the top floor, a panoramic room of glass walls overlooking the city. A long obsidian desk dominated the space, with a few high-backed chairs on the visitor side.

Sitting behind the desk was a man. He looked to be in his late 40s, with a chubby frame and broad shoulders. His dark brown hair, lightly streaked with gray, was neatly combed back, revealing a high forehead.

He had a round face with soft features, framed by a short, well-trimmed beard. His eyes were brown, behind rectangular glasses that rested lightly on his nose.

He wore a tailored navy suit over a white shirt, with a simple tie, the cut accommodating his fuller build. His shoes were polished black leather, reflecting the light from the window.

At this moment, Dwayne placed the phone on the table. He had just communicated with someone who had acquired 14% of the shares within just a blink of an eye.

This came as a huge surprise to Dwayne. After all, he had tried limiting the acquisition of shares by outsiders. He had founded this entire company by himself.

If not for the fact that he needed the trust of the executives, and the capital that would come from selling out some shares, he would not have had the shares spread out like this.

But even then, now, out of nowhere, someone had just acquired 14% of the shares. And, the information regarding this person was mysterious.

But lucky for him, it seemed that this person did not have the intention of taking over the company, at least for now.

As long as he did not have the intention of making the company fail, Dwayne would not mind having him within the company. After all, this was the effort that he had put in for years. He could not allow someone to ruin it.

Now, concerning the request of this shareholder, he thought, it wasn't anything much. It was just that, he wanted the deployment of security guards to be done within a short time.

That was going to be quite problematic. After all, it was not as though security guards were usually idle the entire time. Most of them had already been assigned somewhere.

If they needed to be deployed, it would take quite a while. But, according to that shareholder, they needed to be deployed on this very day, at least before afternoon.

Good thing, he claimed that he would be able to cover the costs incurred during this time. If they did things slow, they would not even need Michael to cover the expenses.

But by having many security guards deployed at the same time, they would need to pay compensation to some of those whose contracts would have to be canceled.

"Come in!" Dwayne suddenly called out.

The office door was opened, and a lady walked in. She had a slender, graceful frame, her dark hair falling just past her shoulders. Her eyes were soft gray,.

She wore a fitted charcoal blazer over a pale blouse, paired with a knee-length skirt and simple black shoes. She wore minimal jewelry, a small necklace and studs.

She was Dwayne's personal secretary.

"Mr. Richards?" The lady called, respect tinged in her voice.

"I would like you to quickly do some deployment of security guards. They are to be deployed in the eastern province, to the stores named Annex Supermarket chain.

Cancel all the small contracts, that those who have signed the contract with us have other methods to deal with the current situation that they are facing. The compensation will be paid by the company." Dwayne instructed.

Even though she was shocked, the lady quickly nodded, before she left the office to relay the instructions that had been given.

'Just who is this Michael. He is quite young, just 18. But, he already possesses the ability to acquire 14% of the shares of my company. Such a background, I hope he doesn't have the intention to play around with my company for experience.

Otherwise, even if I have to offend the background behind him, I will stop at nothing to make sure that he gets out of the company.' Dwayne thought to himself.

This company was built with his own effort from scratch. Yes, he had some background, but it was not enough to be able to build this company. It was all due to the effort that he had put in, that the company was able to reach this level.

So, no matter what, he was not willing to see it crumble.

Then, thinking of something, he made a call. And as soon as the call connected, he instructed, "I would like you to investigate the background of this guy named Michael Santos. He is 18 years old this year, and just acquired 14% shares of my company. I want to know, is he related to the Santos family? I want to get all the information as soon as possible, no delays allowed."
