Chapter 52: Dante's Fate

Looking at the group of gangsters that was fleeing, Michael did not bother to chase after them.

Instead, he just allowed them to leave. If he decided to chase them, considering that they had already scattered, it would be almost impossible for him to be able to get all of them.

Additionally, apart from this area that was lit up by the headlights of the vans, the surrounding areas were dark.

It would be quite difficult for him to be able to find this group of gangsters in the darkness. So, rather than wasting a lot of time chasing the minions, it was better for him to deal with the leaders.

As long as the leader of the shadow assembly gang was dealt with, who was his main target, Michael did not really want to bother with the rest.

In fact, if not for the fact that the other gangsters insisted on attacking him, Michael would have simply dealt with Dante and his second in command, Steve.

As for Daniel, since he brought himself here, with the intention of dealing with Michael, Michael would obviously not spare him.

The group of panicked gangsters, while fleeing, they did not remember to carry anyone with them.

How could they even think about adding a burden to themselves, when they felt that they could not run any faster?

Within just a few moments, the area that was echoing with the sounds of battle suddenly calmed down, everything going silent.

All those that had encountered Michael had either been killed or knocked unconscious. And considering that only a little while had gone by, those people had not yet regained their consciousness.

Michael did not think much about it, heading straight to the location that he had taken down Dante.

When he got there, he realized, Dante was missing. It seemed that the guy had somehow managed to run away during the chaos.

This made Michael frown. He came here to deal with Dante. If Dante had run away, did that not imply that he came here for naught?

Just as he was thinking about this, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

Looking over, he realized that Kate was the one that was coming back from somewhere. And, she was dragging someone with her.

Looking closely, Michael realized that the person that she was dragging on the ground was none other than Dante.

"I found this guy running away, so I chased after him." Kate said as she stood in front of Michael.

Michael raised his brows slightly as he gazed at Dante, whose entire face was bruised.

From the looks of it, he had received quite a beating from Kate. It seemed, this lady really abhorred gangsters so much.

"Thanks for getting him back here. Otherwise, this fish might have slipped out of the net, when it was the target. Additionally, thanks for your assistance." Michael spoke sincerely.

During the time that he was dealing with the gangsters, he had noticed that Kate had given a helping hand.

Without her, things might have gotten a little more complicated, but still, Michael had the confidence that he would be able to handle it anyway.

But with Kate's assistance, at least, things had been handled much faster as compared to if he had done it alone.

"There is no need to thank me. I came here with the intention of getting this guy. So, you helped me as well." Kate responded.

Michael nodded. After that, he stretched his hand towards Kate, his palm facing up, as if he was asking for something.

At the same time, he said, "Could you lend me your gun?"

Kate was momentarily puzzled, wondering, what did Michael want to do with her gun?

Despite the question in her mind, she still handed the gun to Michael. At the same time, she asked, "What do you want to do?"

Michael did not respond, simply aiming the gun at Dante, who was lying on the ground, unconscious.

When she realized what Michael wanted to do, Kate suddenly positioned herself between Dante and Michael.

This made Michael frown as he gazed at her, not sure what she was intending to do.

Looking at Michael's expression, Kate took a deep breath and said, "Killing this guy is not my intention. I wanted him to rot in jail, in order for him to reflect on the crimes that he has committed so far.

I will use my family's connections in order to be able to collect the evidence against him, making sure that he will never be able to get out."

When he heard those words, Michael could only shake his head. It was obvious, he disagreed with Kate's opinion.

"In actual sense, I really wanted to kill this guy. But, as a police officer, considering that he is currently not resisting arrest, I have to take him back." Kate explained herself.

Still, Michael shook his head as he said, "Sometimes, you have to understand, you cannot always follow the rules. Those rules were set by humans, and it is humans that follow them. Rules can be broken, so, you have to be flexible.

This guy, what will he face in a prison? At most, it would be alive in solitary, working in the mines or something like that.

But, do you think that is enough of a punishment to the crimes that he has done? The lives that he has ruined, those lives that he has claimed, do you think that this will be fair to them?

Additionally, do you think some people even believe that they were in the wrong? This guy might go there, thinking that he was quite unlucky to be caught. Reflecting on what he had done? That might not even pop up in his mind.

In any case, for some people, jail time is just a vacation to them. Additionally, can you guarantee that he will stay in prison for life? Maybe he has some connections, and might be released after a while.

If he comes back to the society, what will happen? Will he not continue harming lives?

For some scum like this, they need to be eliminated as soon as there is a chance. And, a direct death is an easy way out for him already."

Michael gave a lengthy explanation, which was already unusual of him.

Kate went silent after hearing Michael's words. What he had said was actually the truth.

It was just that, she was a police officer. Although she had already killed several gangsters, all of them had tried killing either her or Michael.

So, she had every right to kill them. But, for Dante, he did not have a chance of using a gun, before he was taken down by Michael.

And when he was escaping, he did not have the ability of resisting, with Kate pummeling him before knocking him unconscious and bringing him back.

According to how it was supposed to be, she needed to take him back to the station. But, things were definitely going to unfold in one way or the other just as Michael had said.

So, after contemplating, she no longer blocked Michael. Instead, she moved to the side, to observe what Michael wanted to do.

On the other hand, Michael gazed at Dante silently. He had no any intention of directly killing Dante. That would be an easy way out for him.

Suddenly, he remembered something. "Could you bring the guy that was next to Dante, and the one that led the group of gangsters into the orphanage today?"

Kate raised her brows slightly, but still, she went ahead and dragged over the two unconscious people. These two, ever since Michael knocked them unconscious, they had not yet woken up.

The group of three was placed together, with Michael standing, gazing at them. There was a cold light within his eyes as he gazed at them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three consecutive gunshots, followed by 3 harrowing screams erupting from the throats of the three men lying on the ground.

This might be the first time that Michael was using a gun, but it was not as though he was completely clueless.

He had watched movies where people used guns. And, he had also watched online videos of people using real guns, either testing the penetration power of a certain type of bullet, or the recoil from a gun.

With Michael's current strength, he did not have to bother much with the recoil of a pistol. The recoil from this gun was not enough to shake him at all.

For that reason, he was able to easily hit the target, considering that he was very close to them anyway.

Currently, Dante, Daniel, and Steve, both of them were screaming miserably, with their thighs bleeding from the gunshot.

And as they were screaming, they all looked at Michael, fear evident in their eyes, especially after they noticed that Michael was holding a gun.

Apart from Dante, the other two did not really understand what had unfolded.

Daniel had been knocked out by Michael just after he dealt with Dante. And immediately after, he dealt with Steve and two other gangsters, as they were trying to pull out guns.

So, for the two of them, they really did not know what had happened, as after they had been knocked unconscious, they had only woken up, due to the pain that they experienced.

"Kid, you better let me go. Otherwise, you will not be able to handle the consequences." Daniel spoke through his gritted teeth.

Bang!

The only response that he received from Michael was another bullet, directly piercing his other thigh.

"Aaaaah!"
