Reborn as a Mechanist with a God-Tier System

Chapter 111: A battle of E Rank Ascended [2]

Outside the train, over a dozen black super bikes quietly escorted the maglev train with the confidence of a pack of Lionesses stalking prey.

The moment their leader, the Holy Champion jumped into the train, they no longer rushed. They simply waited for the train to slow down till it became harmless because to them, the mission was already half-way to completion.

The plan was simple.

Once the Holy Champion entered the train, he was to take care of the Engineman, slow the train down or if possible directly stop it.

And then, the rest of the terrorists will finally board the train.

After the example of a few of their brothers exploding into bloody goo when they tried to jump into the surface of the rapidly moving train, they already learned their lessons as they showed restraint.

Now, they simply waited.

They were not worried at all, they were confident.

It didn't matter if an E Rank Ascended was guarding the train. So long it was Holy Champion Jake who boarded the train, it was only a matter of time before the train slowed down for them to go in and fulfill the divine mandate.

Inside the train, Coaches 2 to 15 were in a state of hysteria as the passengers panicked. The soldiers struggled to maintain calm.

Lieutenant Johnmark stationed his two strongest subordinates who were both F Rank Ascended at Coaches 9 and 11 respectively.

Once the 2 Ascended confirmed the spot from where the terrorists intended to enter the train, they immediately tried to reinforce their leader but they faced the immovable force of the hysteric passengers who blocked their path forward.

At first, these 2 Ascended were also hesitant to injure the passengers but they soon realized that sticking to code no longer applied in their current situation.

If the Lieutenant died, they would all die, including all the passengers, so what was the need of sticking to code in a life and death situation?

And so, these 2 Ascended mobilized.

The Ascended in Coach 11 gathered all the soldiers in the Coach and together, they forcefully cleared a path, handling the passengers with a strong hand as they injured some of them in the process but they no longer cared.

All that mattered was going to reinforce the Lieutenant.

All that mattered was surviving today.

The Ascended in Coach 11, a black-haired male soldier quickly regrouped with his companion in Coach 9 who was a female, a slim brown-haired soldier.

Together, they mobilized the mundane soldiers, rushing towards Coach 1.

As they moved from Coach to Coach, the number of soldiers following them increased as they mobilized the soldiers manning each Coach they passed to increase their chances of success in the inevitable battle that was coming.

They marched forward with determination.

[Coach 1]

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Seeing the bright red plasma beams flying over their heads into the engine chamber through the damaged doors, the passengers who already lost their heads became even more hysterical.

"Arghhh…!" They screamed, pushed, and shoved in panic.

The smart ones laid down under their seats to avoid the flying plasma beams and the commotion, but those who reacted like this were in the minority.

No matter what era it was, majority of humanoids were never really bright.

Despite the hysteria, Lieutenant Johnmark knew that worrying about the passengers was not the priority at the moment.

'I don't know who this new guy is but this is my only chance to save the train!'

His brown military attire was in tatters but with his body already recovered, he grabbed his War Axe and rolled forward inside the engine chamber.

The moment he rolled in, he squatted to avoid the plasma beams rapidly flying overhead, then his eyes focused on the terrorist and he charged forward.

The moment the Lieutenant moved, Leon noticed and he was taken aback. 'Oh, this guy, I almost forgot about him!'

'But if he joins the fight, I can't control my shots perfectly from this range and through the damaged door, I'll shoot him too!'

'What's he thinking?'

He instinctively removed his hand from the trigger to avoid collateral damage to the Lieutenant, yet that's when he heard a voice that jolted him.

"Don't hesitate, SHOOT!" The Lieutenant snarled as with his War Axe, he pounced at the terrorist.

Leon was stunned. 'Shoot?'

He was confused for just 2 milliseconds. 'He's an E Rank Gene Augur!'

'Unlike the terrorist, he won't die immediately from my shot, he can heal any damage that my Rifle deals to him'.

In that moment, Leon had flashbacks to the horror of fighting against Parasite and he no longer hesitated.

He climbed one of the abandoned seats in Coach 1 whose passenger already abandoned for elevation and to get a better angle to aim at the terrorist.

His black eyes gleamed and his grayish black ADE flared as he pulled the trigger.

BAM!

Lieutenant Johnmark didn't care about the plasma beam at all as without showing any fear, he pounced at the terrorist.

The moment the Lieutenant moved, for the first time, the terrorist's predatory brown eyes flickered with a hint of unease.

Surrounded by violent orange ADE, the Lieutenant raised his War Axe and crashed towards him with unstoppable momentum.

With his purple ADE flaring around him, the terrorist clearly panicked as he moved to roll backward and dodge.

Rolling backward was not just to dodge though, it was a scheme.

By acting like he was panicking due to the double attacks of both Ascended and rolling backward, he would have easier access to close the distance to the Engineman who was still focused on keeping the train on track to quickly kill him.

But Leon saw through his ploy instantly.

This was why for his next shot, instead of aiming at the terrorist, Leon aimed behind him instead.

If he tried to dodge, he would eat a hot plasma beam right on his back!

He pulled the trigger.

BAM!

The terrorist noticed the sudden new trajectory of the plasma beam late, but still, with his insane reflexes, he reacted to dodge the attack by killing his backward momentum to instead roll forward.

He moved like an agile Cat.

He dodged the plasma beam completely, but he didn't dodge the Gene Augur's massive War Axe.

BAM!

The Lieutenant's War Axe hacked at the exposed back of the terrorist as his eyes gleamed with murderous intensity.

Just as the Axe was about to hit, a shimmering blue shield popped to life on the back of the terrorist's black coat.

Shield generator!

The shield generator blocked the attack but by tanking the power of an E Rank Gene Augur's attack, its battery was drained instantly.

The next attack, unless the terrorist dodged, he would bleed.

Lieutenant Johnmark didn't hesitate as with the terrorist rolling forward, he cleverly placed his body in between the terrorist and the Engineman.

Now, the terrorist was in between him and the unknown E Rank Ascended.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Leon let loose.

His Terra Nova 71 Rifle kept vibrating in his arms as plasma beam after plasma beam was unleashed inside the engine chamber.

By now, the metallic walls of the engine chamber were already glowing red-hot due to the heat but due to their sturdy design, the walls were not close to succumbing to the heat yet.

The durability of the train stood strong when put to the test.

While Leon shot with eerie accuracy like a robot, on the other side, the Lieutenant took charge of close combat as he directly ate the attacks that he couldn't dodge while attacking the terrorist like a mad dog.

And just like that, the tides of this battle changed.

From the terrorist leading Lieutenant Johnmark by the nose while he passively reacted, now, he finally took reins over the situation and battle.

The appearance of the unknown E Rank Ascended was what turned the tides.

Despite his current predicament, the terrorist wasn't passive.

Once again, despite the combined attacks from both Ascended, he showed them the limits of an E Rank Cyber Gladiator with Cat DNA's reflexes.

BUZZ!

He moved in a blur, buzzing like a bee and never staying in one place.

At times, all Leon saw was a purple blur and a flash of black which was the terrorist's black blade as he retaliated against the Lieutenant's assault.

Unlike the Lieutenant who struggled to land a single clean hit on his enemy, the terrorist landed clean hits every second with alarming regularity.

Despite the fact that the Lieutenant's skin was already hardened like stone, the extremely sharp black blade of the terrorist still cut through his hardened skin easily.

And yet, the Lieutenant was unfazed.

His brown military attire was in tatters, the black blade stabbed and cut his body and those plasma beams burnt holes through his body.

He was bleeding heavily and yet his eyes stayed gleaming with single-minded focus.

Yet, he kept on moving with brutal ferocity, aggression, and speed.

No words were exchanged, no taunting, no laughing, just simple, raw brutal combat between 3 E Rank Ascended.

And when it felt like he was too injured and his body would start breaking down, his ADE flared.

Cell Repair!

He bared his bloody teeth in a silent taunt as his injuries healed while he glared at the terrorist, swinging his War Hammer again and again.

He didn't say it but a quiet dare hung on his lips. 'Kill me if you can'.

The terrorist didn't react to his taunting. From the beginning, this terrorist already did his homework and knew how futile it was trying to kill an E Rank Gene Augur in a 1v1 battle.

As the battle raged, he tried to slip behind the Lieutenant time and time again to get to the Engineman yet the Lieutenant didn't hesitate to put his body on the line to protect the Engineman.

A few times, he already tried throwing darts and daggers at the Engineman but Leon reacted timely every single time.

The Mechanist's aim was eerie as he sniped the darts and daggers before they could meet their target every single time.

All his plans, all his abilities, everything was thwarted.

The only reason why he was not being smashed already was due to his insane reflexes. He may be unscathed, but there was no progress and no progress meant mission failure.

This terrorist's brown eyes narrowed in rage and annoyance.

Seconds passed and soon minutes began counting, and then, a row of soldiers in brown military attire suddenly barged into Coach 1.

Once the Lieutenant's subordinates arrived, they immediately looked into the engine chamber to observe the situation inside then they looked at the powerful stranger who ignored them, focused on shooting at the terrorist.

They didn't hesitate.

"Save the Lieutenant!" The F Rank Ascended roared as the soldiers also climbed the seats for elevation to prevent friendly fire that'll kill the passengers.

Knowing just how resilient their leader was, they all aimed into the engine chamber and unleashed a barrage of attacks.

Lieutenant Johnmark protected the Engineman with his body.

Seeing this, the terrorist finally accepted failure and then he moved.

The moment the terrorist moved, rushing to escape, Leon noticed and he snorted. 'Not so fast!'

He wasn't about to let this terrorist escape unscathed.

He was stunned by his insane reflexes but Leon believed that by using his brain and with enough weapons, a Mechanist could overcome any Class at E Rank.

Time slowed down as the Cyber Gladiator burst through the damaged door, arriving back at Coach 1 as he rushed towards the opening on the window.

Yet that was when he felt it, a tingle.

Enhance!

Leon's grayish white ADE poured into the Rifle as with a serious look on his face, he predicted the terrorist's path and velocity, then he pulled the trigger.

BAM!

The terrorist dodged! He kept on moving towards the window.

'F*cker!' Leon cursed but he didn't relent.

Enhance!

BAM!

Another powerful plasma beam shot forward at a much faster speed and yet, the terrorist dodged again as he was now just one step from the window.

Yet, that was when something he didn't expect came.

Drone Control Matrix!

A large sword suddenly charged towards him out of nowhere at point-black range, aimed directly at his neck!

"…!"

The terrorist was caught off-guard as his brown eyes constricted behind the damaged half-mask, yet, even when caught off-guard, he still reacted.

'F*cking Cat!' Leon had a crash out in his mind but his attack wasn't entirely unsuccessful.

The terrorist reacted but he couldn't dodge completely.

Swish!

A sharp cutting sound reverberated as the sword cut a nasty gash on the cheek of the terrorist and finally, he bled.

The terrorist shuddered for a moment in disbelief.

His brown eyes glared at the Mechanist in silence for less than a second, then he jumped.

He dove outside through the window.
