Leon watched as in the distance, he saw more war transports of the Federation Army descend into Leviathan Quay's airspace, bringing more destruction with them as the invasion ramped up to the next level.

In that moment, he had second thoughts for the first time. 'Should I take Daren and Tyla and escape from the city?'

To him, the probability of Leviathan Quay becoming history just became bigger than ever before after the shield shattered so fast.

His thoughts raced, and then he was interrupted by his A.I.

"Master, you have to see this".

With the energy shield shattered, the army lost control of the narrative completely as it morphed from an orderly and methodical resistance of the invasion into a desperate and chaotic resistance.

And with this, the network grid in Leviathan Quay became even more compromised, enabling Davis to easily get access to all the CCTV cameras that he wanted so long he had the processing speed and capacity.

Davis projected multiple holograms before Leon, each one showing footage of different key parts of the city.

The Southern Districts of Leviathan Quay were overrun by the unstoppable tide of the Category 3 Neon Beast Tide!

The Neon Beasts swept through the districts like a storm!

Nothing was left untouched.

Most CCTV cameras in the city were destroyed during the rampage of the Neon Beasts as they ravaged everything on sight, turning the southern districts of the city into a wasteland.

But due to the earlier martial law that was effect in the city plus the subsequent orders to go into underground shelters, there was close to no civilians on the streets except the fools who were on a pilgrimage to Kendall District.

Common sense should have told them that with the ongoing invasion, the distance from the southern districts to Kendall District in the Northern side of the city was too far but people tend to forget to use their brains during tense situations.

For these unfortunate fools, the beast tide tore them apart!

They offered zero resistance except the resistance that was being offered by the army who were spread alongside the Federation soldiers on the streets.

Bullets flew like rain.

When the energy shield shattered, the first instinct of the foot soldiers of the Federation Army in the southern districts was to abandon their enemies and go back to their transports in the sky because they knew that the ground would soon be overrun by Neon Beasts.

The Geneforge soldiers didn't let them though.

'If we're going to die, let's die together!'

With this mentality, the Geneforge soldiers in the streets of the southern districts prevented their enemies from escaping as they were forced to face the rampage of Neon Beasts together in the streets.

They made use of everything available to them, hiding in buildings, jumping into cover while retaliating aggressively against the beasts.

This didn't slow the beast tide though.

The Neon Beasts were relentless and they seemed endless!

The CCTV cameras recorded beasts dying to the soldiers, but they also recorded the sight of unfortunate soldiers being torn apart by the beasts.

The E Rank Neon Beasts especially seemed unstoppable as they caused unchecked destruction, leaving ruin, blood, and death in their wakes.

As for the Behemoths, the D Rank Neon Beasts, these were absolute freaks of nature led by the Rhino-like Neon Beast.

Every movement they made was felt, every attack from them sent vibrations rippling through the city like the detonation of a bomb.

And they didn't just sweep through the ground though.

There were tons of aerial Neon Beasts too and they eagerly engaged the military transports above ground, turning the aerial battle from a Geneforge vs Omnicore Federation skirmish into a 3-sided battle with Neon Beasts involved.

It was raw chaos!

It was pure madness in the streets and in the sky!

Even underground was not safe as CCTV cameras captured a few Neon Beasts charging underground, forcing their way through the blast doors of the underground shock shelters!

Seeing this, Leon's heart almost leaped to his throat until he saw a few shelters efficiently resisting the neon beasts due to the fortress-like design of the underground shock shelters.

Knowing just how strong Daren was, plus Sergeant Tyla being with him, Leon didn't panic immediately as he saw footages of the battles underground.

Davis didn't just show CCTV footage concentrated in the southern districts though, it also showed footages of other districts across Leviathan Quay as the Omnicore Federation army pressed their advantage.

The Gene Army was now on the back foot!

In multiple districts across the city, both armies clashed in the sky and ground even as the distant Neon Beast tide gradually approached them.

It was a battle to the death!

And of all these battles, Leon focused on the footage being shown from the floating district that faced Megabase 023.

That was where the main battle to decide the fate of Leviathan Quay was being fought.

The sound of explosions rippled through the sky like thunder as the sky burned, raining a hail of fire.

The initial skirmish between both armies above this Megabase already turned into a violent unhinged battle with nothing held back.

Bleeding from multiple parts of its body, a massive Chimera Avian predator moved through the skies like a Vampire, bursting its way through Federation military transports and causing unhinged damage!

Leon didn't know that this was Major Agakin, but he could tell that the Chimera Avian predator was fighting on behalf of the Gene Army.

On another side, a D Rank clash between a Cyber Gladiator and Major Roshfield made the sky boil wherever they passed!

Major Roshfield was on the back foot as this D Rank Cyber Gladiator displayed unreal speed, dominating the Gene Augur but Roshfield never backed down like a Dog who knew no retreat.

The battle already turned into a dogfight and she was all in for it.

She moved like a Dog whose owner's safety was being threatened, putting her body on the line just to deal damage to this Cyber Gladiator.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Their attacks ignited the atmosphere with fiery sparks!

Despite the fact that he was watching it through a hologram, Leon felt like he was there as he shivered.

And then, he focused on the most eye-catching figure rampaging in the skies above Leviathan Quay.

Leon saw a Chimera that was born out of an unholy union of flesh and machine.

From the torso up, the right side of this unholy Chimera was comprised of an oversized strange bluish white crystalline mutation.

This mutation covered the right side of its face entirely, including its eyes, meaning this strange Chimera had only 1 eye.

Its right hand that was purely crystalline was extremely muscular and was 2 meters wide from side to side, and almost 10 meters long!

This was a Behemoth of a Chimera!

On its back, there was another mutation of gigantic thick brown Eagle wings that enabled it to stay afloat in the sky with all that weight, zipping from one target to another.

The left side of its body and its lower body was covered with thick hair and built like an oversized Monster Gorilla.

Its left hand wielded a massive Mace.

This Frankenstenish mutation of a Monster zipped through the sky unchallenged!

This strange mutated Chimera fought for the Gene Army.

Whenever it's mutated crystalline 10-meter tall right arm punched, a thunderclap was left in its wake and it was almost like the world was coming to an end as everything in its path was obliterated!

Leon watched this 10-meter tall crystalline right arm punch a hole through the energy shield and the hull of a warship!

KABOOM!

The warship detonated!

This Chimera destroyed the warship of the Omnicore Federation in a single punch!

This was Colonel Bam-Bam's ultimate mutation form.

During the peak of his career, he was infamous for this form in major wars of the Geneforge Clans but as he grew old, his body and cells no longer became capable of sustaining this form in battle.

To use this form in his old age, he had to use PEDs.

Leon watched with horror, awe, and desire for D Rank power simultaneously flickering in his eyes.

This Chimera may look like a Monster from a horror story, but it fought intelligently and this made Leon think. 'Wait… is this thing born from a humanoid?'

The moment he had this thought, one name rang in his head. 'Gene Augur!'

He remembered that this was a city of the Geneforge Clans, and then his eyes widened. 'Is this what a D Rank Gene Augur looks like?'

Maybe it was similar, but Leon had a hunch that 99% of D Rank Gene Augurs were not this powerful. He had a hunch that this Chimera Frankensteinish powerhouse was an outlier, a genius, an old monster.

'Is this the leader of Leviathan Quay?' He thought.

The sight of that man rampaging through the forces of the enemies while a neon green light tried to keep up with him and stop him emboldened Leon.

The sight told him that Leviathan Quay still had some fight in it.

Even if the city would fall eventually, it won't fall immediately and for Leon, that was all the motivation he needed to push forward.

His black eyes gleamed with murderous intensity. 'I need to finish what I started!'

'I need to kill Lucian!'

While the world around him was burning, Lucian continued preaching, passionately spreading the gospel of his God and his kingdom.

But just like the rest of Leviathan Quay, the moment the shimmering energy shield above the city shattered, Lucian's congregation panicked.

They screamed in horror as for the first time, they finally seemed to accept the reality that they were all going to die today.

It was always a chore to keep a crowd organized, and this was no exception as Lucian immediately lost control of the crowd.

His gold and white ADE flared as he used his Quantum Touch ability, trying to pacify the crowd but in the face of death being so close with the energy shield gone, even this was not enough to pacify the crowd.

Chaos erupted.

The people screamed in panic, running everywhere and causing a stampede as finally, Lucian's sermon was disrupted.

Lucian's face twisted in displeasure as he stared at the crowd in front of him even as his Holy Champions instinctively went closer to him to protect him.

And that was when it happened.

Amid the chaos as the crowd panicked, causing a stampede while his Holy Champions stayed close to him, in her obsession to watch out for any threat, Xena forgot about something extremely important.

She only realized her mistake when she heard a subtle clicking sound from behind.

She looked back just in time to see a familiar face behind her, standing beside the altar with a familiar crate in front of him.

The moment the crate opened, her eyes widened but it was too late as clenching his right fist with the VX-08 Emberfist gauntlet, Leon punched down at the black box with golden patterns.

Leon's simple punch turned into a 2.5m flaming shock punch that completely engulfed inside the crate and its surroundings.

"NOOOOOOO…!" Xena screamed but it was too late.

The black box cracked open and the flames seeped inside, incinerating every single syringe and vial inside it, evaporating all the liquid!

Xena's eyes widened in horror as she watched.

Due to her scream, all of her companions already reacted as they looked towards where she looked and there they found him… Thomas Riley!

'Checkmate!' Leon thought.

He looked at them with a taunting smile on his face, then he slipped into the chaotic crowd, blending in and disappearing instantly.
