Red Dragon Spaceship Awakening: I Gain Alien Abilities on Mars

Chapter 133: Workout

He had somehow been expecting a Gym. That was one of the obvious options in his mind.

He kind of loved it though. He didn't go to the Gym much back on Earth so it wasn't bad if he did so here.

"This is perfect," Tatehan said aloud, turning in a slow circle to take everything in. "Better than I expected."

[The fitness facility is designed for comprehensive physical training,] the AI explained. [The equipment can adjust resistance levels based on the user's strength profile. The treadmill and other cardio machines can simulate various planetary environments and gravitational conditions. The mirror display provides feedback to optimize form and prevent injury. If the Spaceship is fully restored, this facility will be essential for maintaining crew health during long space voyages.]

Tatehan walked over to the weight rack and picked up one of the smaller dumbbells, testing its weight. It was heavier than it looked (maybe ten kilograms) and perfectly balanced. He did a few quick curls, feeling the resistance, the smooth motion of the weight through space.

Yeah, this would work perfectly.

[Why don't you try doing some exercise?] the AI suggested. [Your body has been through significant enhancements and modifications. Regular training will help you maintain and improve your physical capabilities, especially in conjunction with your abilities.]

Tatehan set down the dumbbell and nodded, already rolling his shoulders to loosen them up. "You know what? That's a good idea. Been a while since I did a proper workout. Let's see what this body can really do."

He started with the weights, selecting a pair of dumbbells that felt appropriately challenging, maybe twenty-five kilograms each, heavier than he would have comfortably handled back on Earth but manageable now with his enhanced strength. He positioned himself in front of the mirror display and began a set of shoulder presses.

The motion felt good and natural. His muscles engaged smoothly, lifting the weights overhead and lowering them with control. The mirror display tracked his form, showing slight adjustments he could make to optimize the movement, straighten the back a bit more, keep the core engaged, don't lock the elbows at the top.

Tatehan adjusted his form according to the feedback and continued. He did twenty reps, then switched to bicep curls. Twenty-five reps. Then hammer curls. Twenty-five more. His muscles began to burn in way, but it was pleasantly though so he didn't so mind.

He moved through a circuit of different exercises—lateral raises, front raises, bent-over rows, hitting different muscle groups and maintaining a steady rhythm. Sweat began to form on his forehead, his breathing deepening but remaining controlled.

After finishing with the dumbbells, he moved to the bench press. He loaded the bar with what he estimated to be about sixty kilograms total, not his maximum by any means, but enough to provide good resistance for multiple reps. He lay back on the bench, gripped the bar, lifted it clear of the rack, and began pressing.

Down to the chest, controlled descent. Push up explosively, exhaling with the effort. Again. And again.

He completed a hundred reps, his chest and triceps burning by the end but his form remaining solid throughout. The mirror display had tracked every repetition, noting consistency and form quality. Apparently, he'd done well, green indicators throughout, minimal form degradation even as fatigue set in.

Next came the squat rack. He loaded more weight onto the bar (maybe ninety kilograms) positioned himself beneath it, and began. Down until his thighs were parallel with the floor, then drive up through the heels. The rubberized floor provided excellent traction, preventing any slippage. Down and up. Again. And again.

A hundred squats. His legs were trembling by the end, but he'd maintained proper form throughout. The biomechanical feedback had been invaluable, helping him keep his knees aligned, back straight and core engaged.

Finally, he moved to the treadmill for cardio work. The control panel offered numerous options, but he kept it simple for now, standard running mode, no environmental simulation, normal Martian gravity, now terraformed by humans was about 78% of Earth's.

He started at a comfortable pace, letting his breathing settle into a rhythm, then gradually increased the speed. Five kilometers per hour. Seven. Ten. Twelve. His feet struck the belt in steady cadence, his arms pumping, heart rate climbing into the aerobic zone according to the display.

He ran for thirty minutes straight, covering a respectable distance, before finally slowing to a cool-down walk. His entire body was warm now, muscles loose and thoroughly worked, cardiovascular system worked out with exertion. Sweat soaked his shirt and dripped from his face, but he felt energized despite the fatigue.

When the treadmill finally stopped, Tatehan stepped off on slightly shaky legs and made his way to a chair positioned near the entrance, a simple seat with contoured support, probably designed for rest between sets.

He collapsed into it, his chest heaving, and let his head fall back against the headrest.

"Crazy," he said between breaths, "stuff."

[Your performance was excellent, Host,] the AI commented. [Cardiovascular efficiency has improved significantly since your arrival on Mars. Muscular endurance shows marked enhancement. The combination of your innate abilities and consistent physical stress is producing optimal development.]

Tatehan smiled at the praise.

He sat there for several minutes, letting his breathing return to normal, feeling the kinda pleasant ache of well-used muscles. His mind was clear and sharp, the endorphins from exercise combining with the earlier coffee to leave him feeling focused and ready for whatever came next.

Which reminded him...

"I have three more mode restoration cores," Tatehan said to the AI, sitting up straighter in the chair despite his fatigue. "Can another place still be restored?"

There was the briefest pause, probably the AI accessing ship schematics and available systems, before it responded.

[Yes, Host,] the AI confirmed. [One additional major system restoration is possible with three cores. Multiple restoration points remain available throughout the ship. Would you like to proceed with another restoration now?]

Tatehan pushed himself to his feet.

"Absolutely," he said. "Let's see what else this ship has to offer."
