The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon

Chapter 80: Regression

KRAAK!

"...."

As soon as Dante opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a spider's head. Before he could think about his situation, the spider opened its mouth.

SPIT!

It spar a ball of black web. Dante's reaction was too slow to dodge it, causing the web to cover his face.

As he felt himself unable to see or breathe, he immediately swung his sword downward, cutting the spider in half. Next, he created shadow flames around his face. The fire stayed long enough to burn the web, but not enough to cause parament burns to his face.

He scanned his surroundings, seeing a battlefield that involved mercenaries and human-sized spiders

'One day.'

He had regressed by one day. They were supposed to kill the spiders, rest the night, and reach Silverwood Town without any trouble.

Dante looked at the mercenaries fighting for their lives and spoils, the distant merchants observing them in silence, the passengers who paid the mercenaries for the journey, and the slaves and workers who struggled in their lives.

'We will all die.'

As the memory of every human dying suddenly in the darkness flashed in his mind, Dante felt deeply depressed.

'Was that because of me as well?'

Greed didn't mention the convoy while talking about those who suffered because of his misfortune. But following the same logic, Dante might be the reason for this as well.

He had leaked his misfortune into their Wheels of Luck, then they all died upon arriving at the town.

Maybe if he wasn't with them, they'd have spent more time reaching the town, avoiding the cursed encounter with the crowned dark entity.

'Was that even my thought?'

A thought that could deepenDante's guilt could likely be just Greed using Dante's voice to break him.

Dante could feel something protecting his mind, stopping Sin of Greed from trying to possess Dante. But that wouldn't stop Sin of Greed from speaking in Dante's mind, or else the entity wouldn't have warned Dante.

'Should I cut my arm off?'

Dante ignored the battlefield and stared at his arm with a hateful gaze. But then he realized that the tattoo didn't only coil around his arm, but also reached his neck.

If he wanted to remove it, he'd have to cut his own head.

What was he supposed to do now?

The dark entity's request didn't even cross his mind. He had just heard that Greed had other scattered parts, but he didn't care about that. He only wanted to remove this living relic or destroy it.

Suddenly, another spider attacked Dante, but this time, he quickly snapped out of his daze and set it on fire.

This attack made him decide to end the monsters here first.

Without holding back, he danced across the battlefield, cutting, slicing, and severing the giant spiders. Because of his mood, his kills were more brutal than usual.

Finally, he and the mercenaries killed every single one of the spiders.

"We did it!"

"Ugh, these webs are sticky and disgusting! It's even in my spirit!"

"Hey! Why do you think you're worthy of taking the core? I did most of the damage."

"I was the one who finished it off, I certainly deserve the core!"

Some mercenaries cheered in victory, while others fought for the spoils.

Dante ignored his own spoils, walking into the middle of the battlefield. Once he reached there, he cast Shadow Flash, blinding everyone for a few seconds.

They panicked for a brief moment, but soon after, they regained their vision and stared at Dante in confusion.

"What's the meaning of this?"

"Did you lose your mind?"

"Calm down, it should have been an accidental attack."

Dante looked at them with a grim expression and said: "We can't continue this journey to Silverwood Town, it's dangerous for all of us. If we continue, none of us will survive to see the next day."

The mercenaries were taken aback by Dante's sudden announcement, though most of them looked at him as if he were a fool.

Dante continued: "Go and tell the merchants that a higher being is about to destroy the entire town. You have to find another destination for now or turn back."

"...."

The only response Dante received was silence. No one took him seriously. Why would they? He suddenly blinded them and started talking about changing their destination.

"Jin, you bastard, did you make him drink with you?!" Daniel yelled at Jin.

Jin raised an eyebrow and looked at his wine bottle in confusion: "Umm… Did I? No wonder it looks emptier than last time."

'Right… how am I supposed to convince them?' As he thought of that, Dante felt irritated.

Dante had just regressed and he was tired of everything he had seen, heard, and experienced. He wanted nothing more than to rest.

But he couldn't just let the merchants and the mercenaries walk to their deaths when he only needed to say a few words to save them.

He instantly used Shadowstep and teleported to the merchants, intending to convince them to leave.

After all, they were the ones who truly held the decision.

Unfortunately, almost no one took him seriously. They tried to politely say that he was speaking nonsense, as they were afraid of his power. Some of them thought that he simply hit his head while fighting a spider and needed some rest.

The mercenaries eventually gathered to the convoy, only to see Dante in the middle of the path, stopping the merchants from moving forward.

"Come on, man."

"What happened to you all of a sudden?"

"I'm losing money by wasting time here! Who hired this guy?"

Dante kept blocking the path, looking at them with a grim expression: "Please, listen to me only this time. Going to that town will only kill you."

"Shadow, can you tell us why you think that?" Omar asked. As the one who hired Dante, he was a bit responsible for him.

"Sorry but, we can't just change our destination after spending all that time and all these resources only because you suddenly felt that way. Some of us have people waiting for them in Silverwood Town, it's not just about business."

Dante scratched his head, struggling to find something to say. After a moment, he opened his mouth: "After one day, we arrived at the town. A veil made of tens of thousands of monsters made of darkness surrounded the town, and we started dying one by one. I regressed, using my only time trait, and here I am just trying to warn you. You can do whatever you want now."

"Oh," Dante glanced at Jin: "That drunk guy has a class called Volt Brewer. He can turn the alcohol in his body into lighting or something like that. He probably got it because he used to steal and drink the alcoholic drinks in his childhood."

As he finished his speech, he turned around and started walking away, leaving Jin to stare at Dante in shock.

He had never told anyone about that!

"Wait, you have the Time Aspect?"

"Is that a lie?"

"Ignore the Time Aspect, can he REGRESS?!"

"Hey, where are you going!"

The merchants and mercenaries called him, some of them tried to follow him for more answers, but he used Shadowstep and left them.

He didn't care about his payment, he didn't care about his spoils, he didn't care about his companions.

For him, staying there any longer would only make things worse.
