Point-of-View: Ira
———————————————————————————
This truly is incredible...I feel so immensely powerful!
As a hybrid of Dark and High Elves, I was always more powerful than individuals of either race, I was physically much stronger, and I possessed both abilities unique to the two races, Ether Generation and Flora Control.
However, my Magic was difficult to control, the sheer quantity I possessed was more than I could handle, so my use of both those abilities, Flora Control in particular, were quite subpar.
Even after several decades, my mastery over Ether was average at best, and Flora Control well below average.
But after the Chief gave me a new lease of life as the Apostle of Wrath, my Magic has been greatly stabilized, and I have full mastery over both Ether Generation and Flora Control.
And now, it's time to make full use of it...
I veered across the air as the Basilisk rose up towards me rapidly and snapped its jaws at me, before zipping down as a petrifying beam came shooting out of its left eye, evading it.
I was not able to fly before, but with my drastically improved control over my Ether, I can fly freely by cloaking my body in an aura of Ether.
As the Basilisk fired its petrifying beams at me again, I shot up higher into the air and took control of dozens of vines in the swampy area, sending them shooting towards the Basilisk, wrapping around its body.
The Monster began to thrash about as I constricted several tendrils around its jaws, covering its eyes in the process.
It violently struggled before breaking free of the vines with a sharp, enraged hiss, before snarling in pain as I blasted its left eye with a rapid Ether projectile, blood bursting out and streaming down the side of its face as its eyeball erupted.
A massive splash of water burst out towards me as it swung its tail up and out of the murky water, locking on and firing a petrifying beam at me with its right eye.
I weaved across the air to my right, narrowly evading the beam, before I whipped my arm across and fired out a slashing wave of Ether, a deafening roar of pain ringing out as a deep gash appeared across the left side of the Monster's body, a couple of meters below its head.
It snapped its jaws open and fired out a violent spray of venom towards me, which I swiftly vaporized with a powerful burst of Ether in front of myself and quickly veered down as a petrifying beam came shooting towards me.
Hm, perhaps I'm toying with it too much.
I cannot help but want to test out this increased control and mastery over my Magic, but I really ought to stop wasting time now.
I unleashed a pressurized burst of Ether from my feet as I shot towards the Basilisk, a screeching hiss of pain ringing out as wooden spikes rapidly extended out of the trunks of a few trees across the shore of the lake behind it, piercing into its back and bursting out the front of its body.
I whipped my arm across to fire out another Ether slash, inflicting a deep cut across the Monster's neck, just below its lower jaw.
As it roared in pain, I unleashed a pair of concentrated, drilling beams of Ether straight towards the gash, the beams tearing the wound open and bursting through before the Basilisk could react.
Its head fell back, hanging on by a few bloody threads, a loud splash ringing out as the Basilisk went limp and collapsed onto the surface of the lake, large ripples flowing out around it.
It wasn't long before it began sinking in, disappearing into the water, a tinge of deep red appearing across the surface, before steadily fading as it dispersed.
When I was alive, my strongest attack was a concentrated Ether arrow, with a sharp, sharp burst of energy, and I could not fire it in quick succession.
Despite that, it was still powerful enough to be a serious threat to Archdemons and Dragons.
And now, I can easily fire off dozens of those arrows with ease, along with many more powerful attacks.
I had lost hope for so, so long, and up until a few days ago, I had all but given up, I was waiting to die and be put out of my misery.
I had fought a lone, aimless battle for so long, with no real cause or purpose driving me, I had nothing to live for.
But that is no longer the case.
And it is all thanks to the Chief, he has my utmost gratitude. I doubt I will ever truly be able to repay this debt, it is because of him that I have a purpose again.
It does not matter that I will be fighting on the side of a different world...it is far too late to save this world, there is no one left to save it for.
Regardless, so long as I get to see the Demon Lord and his forces defeated and destroyed, I have no qualms.
For everything they've done, everything they've taken, all the lives lost...they shall be repaid tenfold.
Now, then, I should head back.
I flew back in the direction of the hideout, starting to make my return to-...hm?
I came to an abrupt halt and spun around with a frown, carefully scanning the area.
For a moment, I could have sworn I sensed someone following me.
Did I imagine it?
I don't see or sense anyone anymore, and it was just for an instant, but...I certainly felt something.
In that case...
I flew back a bit while keeping my eyes peeled, before steadily charging up Ether in my hands, a low, deep hum ringing out as the energy pulsed and intensified, a dark blue glow blanketing the area.
I then slammed my hands together, combining the charged up Ether and unleashing in a massive, devastating energy beam, which barreled forward with immense force, wiping out everything in its path.
Loud crashes rang out as the beam petered out, as the Ether vaporized the middle of several trees, the tops plummeting and crashing onto the ground.
There, if anyone was following me, that ought to have dealt with them...
