Chapter 396: Return (Part 2)

Point-of-View: Vaszel Vos Kealfaos

———————————————————————————

Okay...I think I've cleared my head enough, I feel a lot calmer now. I should head back to the castle.

I shall try using Larceny on Kaivel Intrix one more time tomorrow, and if it fails again, I'll kill him and be done with it.

I really hope it works...that was the whole reason I had Fenelza bring him to this world, it would be incredibly frustrating if all that turned out to be for nothing.

The ability to increase my power, I want it.

While it is a shame that he no longer has the ability to grow his overall power, I can at least steal his Enrage power boost.

This whole thing will have been nothing but a colossal waste if it turns out that I cannot steal any of his abilities.

Actually, worse than nothing, considering the sheer number of Monsters he's killed.

I then turned around and began flying back to the castle, over the burned down forest. I shifted my gaze up as I felt a drop of water hit the top of my head, dark clouds gathering.

Seems like it is going to rain soon, I should hurry. I would prefer not to get drenched.

I am not too far from the castle, it should be coming into sight any second n-...huh?

I came to an abrupt halt, blinking a couple of times in disbelief at the sight before me.

Where my castle used to be, now there was a large pile of rubble, a thick cloud of dust rising above it.

What...what happened here?!

I rushed forward in shock, struggling to process the sight before me. This can't be, how did this happen?!

As I reached the mountain of rubble, I slowed down and stopped, staring at it in bewilderment.

My castle...what the hell is this?

"Hm? Oh, there you are, Lord Vaszel."

"Huh? Spektar...what happened here? Explain," I responded with a grimace, as the shadowy figure flew up and approached me.

"I do not know, my Lord. One minute, I was relaxing in my room, and the next thing I knew, these bright purple flashes burst through the castle.

They must have damaged the structural integrity of the castle, because not long after that, the entire place collapsed. I searched through thru rubble, and I can unfortunately confirm that all of the others are all dead.

A few remains are buried under the rubble, but I am the only one who survived, and only because I do not possess a physical form like the others do.

Although, I did not find any sign of Fenelza. She was definitely in the castle, but there were no remains of her left behind, as if she completely disappeared."

I see. In other words, I've lost my castle and my Generals have been reduced to a grand total of...one.

Damn it...damn it, damn it, damn it, DAMN IT...!!!

I let out an infuriated snarl as I stomped on the ground, a shockwave erupting upon impact as bits of dirt and mud flew out all around me, a cloud of dust rising up.

I clenched my fists and let out a slow exhale in an effort to compose myself, bottling in the rage boiling away inside me.

He must have escaped somehow...the purple flashes, they sound like the attack Nereszu described.

It's likely that Obliterate Skill I saw using Appraisal, but I wasn't able to discern that that Skill is not fueled by Mana.

And if Fenelza is missing...he must have used that Command ability to force her to use Warp Gate to send him back to Earth.

And he likely killed her immediately afterwards...possibly even turned her into one of his undead minions.

I clenched my fists in anger and frustration, gritting my teeth...this is a heavy blow to my forces.

Not just the Generals, but many of the strongest and most talented among the Dragons and Archdemons outside of the Generals also resided in the castle, they were being trained and groomed to ascend to high ranked positions in my forces.

And now, all of them are gone.

I have no choice but to take drastic measures.

I will need to resort to that...it is risky and dangerous, which is exactly why I've refrained from using it.

But I have been left with no other option...with the strongest among my forces gone, it is the only way to ensure my victory.

"Kaivel Intrix, you bastard...mark my words, you will pay for this," I uttered venomously, intent of exacting my revenge...

Okay, here we are.

I quietly landed in my balcony, feeling kinda giddy...I can hardly believe it, I'm really home!

Hm? The light's on.

Let's see...okay, good, the balcony door is unlocked. Maybe Aria was hanging out in here and forgot to turn the lights off, or-...

"Who's there?!"

Huh? She's still awake.

I slid the balcony door open, before pushing the curtain aside and stepping into the room. Aria was standing on my bed, a grimace on her face.

All the tension in her expression faded as she met my gaze, her eyes widening and her mouth fell open.

I felt a surging swell of emotions welling up inside me as I stared at her, an overwhelming sense of joy in my chest. It's been so long since I saw her, she looks even more beautiful than I remember.

Her hair's gotten a fair bit longer, looks like I'm not the only one who hasn't had a haircut in a while.

"Hey, Aria...I'm home," I greeted her with a smile, shutting the balcony door behind me and approaching the bed.

"Is...is that really you, Kai? I...I missed you so much!" She cried, leaping off the bed towards me as tears streamed down her face.

I caught her as she threw her arms around me, before embracing her as she hugged me tightly. I placed my left hand on the back of her head, stroking her hair.

I was doing my best to contain myself...I feel like if I let these emotions take over, I won't be able to hold back.

"I missed you too, Aria. I can't put into words how overjoyed I am to see you again," I whispered, before she pulled back and met my gaze with a wide, beaming smile.

"Welcome back, Kai. I...I was beside myself with worry when I didn't get a letter from you, I was so scared. And now, I don't have a care or worry in the world, it disappeared the instant I saw you...I'm really liking the long hair and scruffy face, by the way," She grinned, as she stroked my cheek.

"Your longer hair looks great too. You're seriously a sight for sore eyes, Aria, I-...," I began, before trailing off as she suddenly pulled on my arms and flung me onto the bed, hopping on top of me and pinning me down with a gleam in her eyes.

"There's a crazy amount of emotions swirling around inside me right now, they're overwhelming, it feels like my heart is about to explode.

So, to keep my heart from exploding, I'm going to love the hell out of you right now, with everything I've got! I...I can't hold back anymore. Any objections?" She inquired, her cheeks turning red as she breathed heavily.

"Actually, I'm in the same boat. So, bring it o-...," I began, before she cut me off as she swiftly leaned down and kissed me...
