Cucking The Hero As The Final Boss!

Chapter 146: Escaping The Capital - Part 1

"I can't believe so much happened in a day…" Gathering in their room, Freya felt the burden of the entire day crashing down on her. She wasn't even meant to be in the capital, and yet what she'd experienced on her group's behalf was more stressful than a month's worth of work back at the inn. "The meeting, the riots, and now we need to sneak out of the kingdom before tensions get worse. Feels like the end of Lakrus itself."

"Was it always like this, big sis? This chaos, I don't remember much from back then…" Curious about the sort of place the capital used to be, Charlotte glanced sideways at her sister with her back against their room's door.

With all eyes turned towards her, Freya tried to remember with a scowl on her face. She was never too fond of this place; the academy had always been a breeding ground for narcissists and perverts. And despite her education from a place only being elementary, she remembered quite a few memories that back then she did not understand, but now that she was an adult reflected poorly on the academy.

"I remember the grooming attempts." Lifting her eyes, Freya stopped herself from revealing too much in front of her children. "They started us young, but thankfully, nothing happened to us, girls. Others I can't speak for, but for the most part, the worst attempt at manipulation was reserved for the older girls."

"Nothing seems to have changed then," Charlotte remarked as another set of knocks came onto the room's door.

Keeping her back firm with her blades stuck between the door's handles to keep it barricaded, the leopard woman tried to keep the intruders from getting in, as already there had been a handful of cases of students trying to break into random rooms. To them, it was nothing more than play, an act of rebellion, and to take advantage of the chaos outside. Whatever other intentions they may have had, it mattered little as long as one could keep themselves safe.

Gathered inside that single room, the devil's group and that of the hero were sitting side by side. And while the hero's group was crippled with anxiety, the fiend and his companions were simply waiting for any news from Toma about Glyea's crowning before they could begin their preparations to leave.

"We should worry about how we're going to get out of here more than what kind of place this is," breaking the momentary silence, Zephyr got off the bed and gave everyone a sweeping look. "We can stay here all day, and those idiots won't quit with the banging, and if I have anything to say, I would knock them on their asses and get ourselves the hell out because who's overseeing anything?"

With nobody to implement the rules, there was nobody to stop them from beating the arrogant fools and taking their leave. Instilled with that idea, the group finally felt like they had a sense of direction over what they should do next. Freya and Charlotte were the first to agree, then came the rest, although after receiving grave news, Roxanne was somewhat reluctant to move just yet.

In the end, however, the decision was made with the majority in agreement. Thus leaving a clone behind to handle the rest of the politics and whatever concerns Glyea may have with him now that his real identity was known to her, Zephyr stood ready by the group to provide support, and support he did as Charlotte kicked the door open and hit the pranksters in their heads with sheathed blades. Knocking them out in an instant, she motioned the rest to follow her, quickly.

"It would be better for us to share space in a single wagon. Ours will be the best as it has more room. Going out in the streets with two wagons will draw too much attention; besides, our horses can run much faster than the other ones." Running towards the back of the academy from the inside, Zephyr kept relaying his plans, and although not everyone wanted to be stuffed in a single wagon, his reasoning made far too much sense to go against him for no reason.

Making their way through the halls, they ran into a handful of troublemakers with blunt weapons in their hands. Some even held flaming torches, for what reason exactly? The group didn't have enough time between knocking them out and continuing moving to ask. Perhaps it was revenge on someone in the academy that they were after, or they were simply letting out their frustration. Either way, the party managed to sneak out through a back door before they ever had the chance to find out.

"There!" Aura yelled, her finger pointing at the burning room of the stable.

It was for that very reason that Zephyr had decided to cut their stay short. The stables were burning, and the very streets of Lakrus were being set on fire. All because a slut of a princess and her brothers decided to run off, and the nobles who were killed, their extended family and friends were adding to the chaos to spite the people, the sages, and the academy.

What they failed to realize, however, was that once the ashes settled, they would have to face justice at the hands of a new queen. The very same person whose crowning they were trying to protest at the moment.

"Everything's on fire…" Getting inside the wagon while Aura froze the horses and brought them from the stable, Freya looked to the sky at the blazing smoke rising as clouds and raining ash all over them. "I… Can't breathe properly."

The taste of ash had settled in their lungs, and if it wasn't clear already, now it was abundantly clear that they couldn't stay here even for a single more night.

"Settle in, we're gonna have a bad time running this thing through the streets!" Zephyr exclaimed, and once everyone was loaded in, it was time for the fiend to take everyone to safety.

Surprisingly enough, at this time, it was the walls keeping them trapped in that were the threat rather than the monsters outside.
