Chapter 1772: All Pieces Fall Into Place (IV)
Daoist Master Wenqing's expression changed abruptly, but Yehui had already formed the spell in his hand.
[Pure Profound Radiance of the Three Primordials]!
The hazy yellow radiance of the Three Primordials slammed into her first. Daoist Master Wenqing's face instantly turned pale, fear filling her eyes as she coughed up blood. Her entire body felt as though it were burning, wracked with piercing pain, while binding mystics descended upon her and left her unable to move.
But Yehui had already turned his palm and thrust it forward again. Surging torrents of crystalline sand manifested around him, shrouding the surroundings in a haze. With his other hand forming a seal before his chest, [Western Sky Plateau] gathered within his outstretched palm as wondrous art-light flared, revealing talismanic words in his palm, [Six Ye Vast Poison Art]!
Yehui was not particularly famous, but he had inherited the Douxuan Dao lineage, and the arts in his hands were no weaker than Changxiao's. It was merely that the [Capital Guard] had collapsed and remained absent for many years, causing him no end of hardship. Over time, however, he had gradually devised ways to compensate for its loss.
After years of refinement, he had worked around the deficiencies in his [Six Ye Vast Poison Art] and allowed it to approach completeness, merging gold and white into one and blending their radiance into a seamless whole. He had nurtured it for many years, and it was now both vicious and poisonous, a mighty art specifically meant to ruin one's Dao conduct and dharma body!
Yehui smiled and said, "Take this art of mine, and I'll lay waste to ten years of your cultivation!"
His words, empowered by his divine ability, exploded like thunder, causing Wenqing's eyes to dim slightly. Yet despite his triumphant words and laughter, there was not the slightest trace of satisfaction in Yehui's eyes. Instead, his movements slowed faintly as his gaze shifted aside.
At this critical moment, a speck of golden light suddenly shot forth and blocked Yehui's palm!
Clang!
A violent crash exploded through the air. Yehui's figure shattered like a bubble once again, and he reappeared five steps away with two fingers raised before him, looking up.
A golden spear was firmly grasped in a man's hand. This man stood almost three meters tall, with white hair, beard, a thick waist and broad shoulders. He wore a pleated robe and golden boots, with a sparrow-tail crown on his head and a gold-and-red saber strapped across his back. He held the spear in one hand, his features fierce and sinister, his face covered in scars.
Beneath his feet were soft white clouds that twisted and shifted with extraordinary agility. Unlike ordinary dharma clouds, they were supple and perfectly rounded, yet took on an incomplete form curved like the moon and moving like a serpent. Surging Baleful Metal Qi and autumn dew clung to his garments, radiating a penetrating chill.
His face was expressionless, while his eyes seemed both demonic and fiendish, glowing with a dark red light.
[Shatter Anew]![1]
The unified ghastly-white radiance abruptly spread outward, sweeping away every divine ability around it. The [Six Ye Vast Poison Art] dissolved completely, like ice thawing beneath the spring breeze.
Across the entire sky, all the divine abilities dimmed at once as light arose from the empty air, suppressing their power!
Gongsun Bei, who wielded Radiant Essence, narrowed his gaze, while Liu Bai abruptly raised his brows, his eyes turning sharp. Every strand of spiritual sense converged on the old man simultaneously, stirring the autumn dew into a swirling fall.
Ning Wan sheathed her sword and abruptly closed her beautiful eyes. Her face turned pale in an instant as her lips trembled.
Situ Huo...
Yehui's gaze suddenly sharpened. A burst of wild laughter forced its way out of his throat, and his eyes flickered as he laughed. "So it's you, you old bastard! Of all people, it's actually you!"
This man was actually Situ Huo, who had been missing for many years!
This Purple Mansion Realm Daoist Master of the Golden Tang Gate, a descendant of Situ Tang, had been forced to flee far into the outer-sea and had not dared show himself for years.
Yet now he had finally appeared! He belonged to an era slightly later than the Three Yuans, but calling him an old relic was no exaggeration! Yehui’s words resounded through the night sky like rolling thunder.
Situ Huo's hair and beard were entirely white, and his eyelids drooped with age. Yet when he suddenly turned his gaze toward Yehui, his eyes still flashed with vicious intensity like lightning.
His tone was calm, his voice hoarse and muffled, "The younger generation truly is formidable."
But by then, the entire sky had darkened. Billowing white qi poured from between his robes like a waterfall, while three shadows wove through his garments. His pupils turned autumn-yellow as he stared fixedly at Yehui.
[Engraved Stone].
This Dao was known in one lineage as [Engraved Stone] and in another as [Gold Feathered Beast]. Though the two names pointed to different Dao lineages, they were Body Divine Abilities of the same origin and nature!
The old man had clearly not moved, yet Yehui suddenly swept up his sleeve as though catching something out of thin air. His body sank, and he retreated several steps. A rapid series of cracking sounds rang out as another Situ Huo appeared behind him, one hand gripping the long saber at his back!
Boom!
A heaven-shaking explosion tore through the night sky. Situ Huo narrowed his aged eyes as his figure was swallowed by endless radiance. Light blazed beneath his feet, while Gongsun Bei pushed his divine ability to its limit, only for it to sweep fruitlessly through the night.
The figure of 'Situ Huo' scattered like the wind.
At the same time, the hazy Purple Essence standing across the heavens began to tremble. A golden scroll unfurled in the wind as the manifestations of water and fire appeared between heaven and earth.
Tinglan emerged with a complicated expression, clutching the immortal scroll as she gritted her teeth and called, "Situ Huo, receive the imperial decree!"
Situ Huo’s eyes abruptly lifted, a dark look surfacing within them as he said, "This subject is present."
His appearance had been so unexpected that even the assembled Purple Mansion Realm cultivators were momentarily stunned. Yet all the clouds and mist in the sky had already stilled and dispersed, and one star suddenly blazed with brilliant light:
Brilliance of Cultivation and Martiality!
In the distance, Helian Wujiang abruptly raised his head, and his heart jolted as he said, "We cannot stay here any longer!"
If there had still been some hesitation over whether to drag things out when Situ Huo first appeared, then now that the immortal decree and Tinglan had arrived, how far away could Yang Ruiyi possibly be?!
Situ Huo rose upon water and fire, and accepted the golden scroll from Tinglan. The [Might-Proclaiming Jade Tally], as long as an arm and shaped like a broken sword, had already fallen into his hand.
The weapon seemed to bestow extraordinarily powerful mystics upon him, as layer after layer descended upon Situ Huo's body. He let out a deep breath, his eyes brightening as his aura abruptly surged, drawing everyone's attention. Then his hand closed around the hilt of the saber on his back!
The fighting in the sky had already come to a halt. Gongsun Bei likewise stared solemnly at the old man, his spiritual sense trembling faintly within the great void.
It's time to leave.
Was Situ Huo powerful? In his own era, he had fallen far short of the many prodigies of his generation. Supreme Yang was still at the height of its glory then, and as the closest blood descendant of Situ Tang, an enemy of numerous Daoist Masters from the Supreme Yang Dao lineage, he had chosen to retreat before the overwhelming tide of events, abandoning the entire Golden Tang Gate and two Purple Mansion Realm cultivators to flee overseas.
Back then, he had merely been an early-stage Purple Mansion Realm cultivator, and practically any Daoist Master from the Supreme Yang Dao lineage could have subdued him with ease.
But things were different now. He had survived three hundred years of wandering cultivation, evading the Supreme Yang Dao lineage and countless enemies, including the pursuit of more than five mid-stage Purple Mansion Realm cultivators over the years. How could Situ Huo possibly be an ordinary figure?!
What made Gongsun Bei even more wary... was Situ Huo together with the long saber on his back, the [Blood Fiend Tower]!
It was one of the five items the cultivators of the Golden Tang Gate had recovered from Situ Tang's corpse, the weapon once wielded by Daoist Master Situ Tang of Golden Tang Gate!
If Situ Huo had relied on the golden boots beneath his feet, [Monarch's Lost Sheep], to roam the world and escape from powerful cultivators time and again, thereby preserving his life, then the [Blood Fiend Tower] was the sharpest fang behind all he had accomplished over the last three hundred years.
The only weapon that could confidently be said to suppress the [Blood Fiend Tower] was the [Frosty Absolute Sword] in Ning Wan's hands. Yet the [Frosty Absolute Sword] imposed exceedingly harsh demands upon its wielder. Without top-tier Sword Dao cultivation, one could only make use of its sheath while leaving its blade unused!
Clang!
An unbearably sharp and terrifying shriek rang out between heaven and earth as Situ Huo drew a section of the saber blade from its sheath.
In life, Daoist Master Situ Tang of Golden Tang Gate had possessed a fearsome reputation. Some called him arrogant and defiant; some said he was blind to his own interests; and others had accused him of leaving no virtue for his descendants. Yet from the day he was born until the day he died, no one had ever dared say that his abilities were lacking!
He had trampled upon Golden Feather Sect's immortal decree with vast divine abilities. Arrogant and unrestrained by nature, he had slighted a visitor from Changhuai. He had killed a Supreme Yang divine ability cultivator over the smallest grudge. He alone had dared such things, and yet both his temperament and innate ability ranked among the finest in the world. Had he not offended the dragons and been forcibly gravely wounded by them, there was no telling what heights his prestige might have reached!
When Situ Huo appeared, what shocked everyone first was not even Situ Huo himself, but the way his presence seemed to remind them once more of Situ Tang's wild arrogance!
Boom!
Heaven and earth trembled. Yehui's figure had already vanished, while Helian Wujiang had disappeared even earlier. Every streak of light had fled into the great void. Yet the long saber was slowly sheathed once more. That dazzling crimson glow never fully flared to life, instead gradually dimming away.
It was as though Situ Huo's hand gripping the saber hilt had merely been an illusion. His aged eyes still drooped as he stood motionless, holding the [Might-Proclaiming Jade Tally] in both hands. His cold gaze drifted lightly across the faces of those present before slowly, almost inevitably, settling on the woman in white.
The old man's face suddenly came alive. His gaze fixed firmly on her face, and he broke into a smile. Every wrinkle seemed to smooth out, making him appear more than ten years younger.
Ning Tiaoxiao...
