Chapter 2401: Chapter 2401: Agreeing to Marry In

Shu Zhao widened her eyes, "Brother, this won’t work."

Shu Quan glared at her, "Fool, can you let me finish speaking? I know that asking a grown man to marry into a family is unacceptable to anyone with some ability these days, but isn’t your situation special? If your brother-in-law marries in, then the child will take your surname, Shu, and the child will have a good record, and so his descendants in the future will also have a good record. They can do business on their own, take the imperial exams, and even marriage proposals will be easier. This concerns future generations, do you understand?"

Shu Zhao was stunned, yes, even if she didn’t think about herself, she had to think about the child, for future generations.

Shu Quan looked at them, "Of course, I’m just making a suggestion, you can discuss this matter among yourselves. Brother-in-law, you have your mother and sister, you should also discuss with them to avoid any problems in the future. If feasible, take some time to handle things in Heichang County. If not, well, just leave it at that."

In fact, Shu Quan wanted to say that if it was not feasible, they could get a divorce and he would take his sister and niece back to Jin City Prefecture. Now that they had a good record, he felt Gu Xinghua was no longer a match for his sister.

Gu Xinghua raised his head and took a deep breath, "Alright, I agree."

Shu Quan was surprised, "You don’t need to discuss with your mother?"

Mother Gu was recently taking care of her pregnant daughter. The Gu sister was married but had no mother-in-law, and coincidentally, her pregnancy was not going well. Now, with one month left until the birth, Mother Gu planned to come live with her son after taking care of her daughter through confinement.

Gu Xinghua looked at his daughter, who was still very confused, and said, "When we go back to Heichang County, I’ll tell my mother. She will agree, it’s not like having a criminal record is an honor. Having a good record for our descendants is the most important."

Shu Quan exhaled, "As long as you can see it clearly. If you feel that marrying into a family is too unpleasant to hear, only your family needs to know, you don’t have to explain it to outsiders."

Gu Xinghua smiled, "Actually, in our situation, many men marry into families. In Righteous Dao Village, there are several households like that. Let others say what they will; it’s just rumors. We can’t give up the chance for our child to have a good record because of them."

"That’s exactly right."

Since neither objected, Shu Quan didn’t say much more and patted Shu Zhao on the shoulder, "Alright, get some rest early. We have to travel tomorrow."

Shu Zhao nodded.

However, that night, Shu Zhao took her daughter and ran to sleep in Second Madam’s room.

Second Madam, naturally unwilling to part with them, could only recount the good old days over and over.

The next day, Shu Zhao came with the child to see Shu Quan and the others off with Gu Xinghua.

As the convoy in front began to depart and Shu Quan and the others were about to follow at the rear, Shu Zhao suddenly stuffed a pouch into the carriage.

"Mother, Brother, it’s said that a poor family focuses on the road ahead. We have food and lodging at the shop, and we now have stable jobs, so we don’t need to spend much money. You’ll need a considerable amount for the journey and then to buy land and a house when you reach Jin City Prefecture. My husband and I spoke with the boss last night and received an advance of six months’ wages. Please take this, take care of yourselves."

"Oh, you child." Second Madam took the pouch and was about to throw it back when Shu Quan stopped her, "It’s a token of appreciation from Fourth Sister and her husband, keep it." They indeed needed money.
