My Life with Narration

Chapter 849 - 839: Breakthrough Point

Chapter 849: Chapter 839: Breakthrough Point

As the saying goes, every creature in the world has its nemesis. There are times when he can handle Du Qiang, and even Li Zijun, but they’re all young—who would want to remain under someone else’s thumb for long?

Du Qiang, when operating at his full potential, can hold his own with most of them, except for his mentors and seasoned veterans like Old Lin.

Swish, swish, swish.

Su Qing sat in the car, door open, holding a notebook, scribbling and sketching in it, constantly pondering what connections there could be, and why the other party would target him.

"Bro Su, what are you doing?" At that moment, He Wendong leaned his head over and asked, looking at the labels on his notebook.

Yu Mingyuan laughed and said, "Isn’t it obvious? It’s a simple crime scene diagram! It’s definitely Bro Su’s unique trick. Bro Su, teach us!"

Right now, Su Qing’s notebook only had a simple sketch on it, showing a road, a well symbol marked not far from the road, and a roughly drawn human figure labeled Zhao Dongyang, male, 33 years old, from Yushu Village, Nankou County.

Next to the well was the character "Zhang" and the number "25," which clearly referred to Zhang Shunzhi, who committed suicide by jumping into the well.

This was a simple crime scene diagram, and his own name was at the bottom.

An arrow connected Zhang Shunzhi and Zhao Dongyang, indicating that there was some connection between them. Additionally, next to his name, there was a circle representing the killer, with lines connecting it to Zhao Dongyang and Zhang Shunzhi.

The killer knew Zhang Shunzhi and also knew him, which was quite intriguing.

But the point that Su Qing couldn’t figure out was, besides the unknown killer, the age difference between him, Zhao Dongyang, and Zhang Shunzhi didn’t match, meaning he didn’t know these two people.

Now there’s only one possibility: the killer could connect their relationships.

He couldn’t understand it, unless there were new hints or new leads from the police. Otherwise, he’d have no way to proceed.

Handing the paper to them, Su Qing chuckled, "See anything?"

They shook their heads vigorously—without some inside info, even if you gave it to Conan, he’d go bald trying to figure it out.

"Not understanding is expected. Don’t imitate me; you won’t learn anything worthwhile. Learn more from Team Leader Lin. Those people are the true pros. If I were a real pro, I wouldn’t just be a consultant." Su Qing laughed and pat their shoulders.

Then, with a look of confusion on their faces, he got out of the car and walked over to Old Zhao.

"How confident are you about your deduction?" Old Lin handed him a cigarette and asked when he approached.

"I don’t know, but it’s a direction. The other side knows me and even left my name. I feel like they know me, in more than just a general sense. This is probably someone I’ve met and know."

Many people know him; after all, he’s somewhat of a public figure often seen online. It’s no surprise someone knows him. But since the other party chose to involve him, it indicates that the other party must be at least familiar with him.

Lin Chengcai nodded. "Indeed. Honestly, I still can’t figure out why the other side wants to bring you into this. Is there some hidden agenda?"

Just then, after walking for more than an hour, Li Zijun and others returned, with Du Qiang leading.

"Team Leader Lin, major news, major news!"

Hearing this, both he and Lin Chengcai were startled. Lin Chengcai immediately said, "Calm down. What’s the matter? Just spit it out!"

"Lin... Team Leader Lin, there’s important information. This Zhao Dongyang is known by quite a few people in the village."

"Yushu Village is about 20 miles from Qingshu Village. Is he famous?" Lin Chengcai asked.

But before Du Qiang could respond, Li Zijun, who had walked over, explained, "Master, Zhao Dongyang was involved with a girl from the village, and that girl is dead."

Upon hearing this, both Su Qing and Lin Chengcai exchanged a glance, almost immediately thinking of something.

"Is it the girl who jumped into the well?" Su Qing asked.

Li Zijun nodded and then recounted the information they had just gathered.

Apparently, over a month ago, Zhao Dongyang and another man came to Qinghe Village for business, but discovered Zhang Shunzhi sitting roadside.

Zhang Shunzhi was mute, but she was good-looking, pale and clean, and had a disability. At some point, she seemed mentally unstable. They were both drunk, saw a single girl, and had malicious intentions, assaulting Zhang Shunzhi.

Since Zhang Shunzhi was mute and unable to speak, they thought no one would ever find out, but after that, Zhang Shunzhi became even more erratic, crying all the time. Later, somehow, her family found out and contacted Zhao Dongyang, but soon after, there was no more news.

Then the village started to have rumors, saying it was likely Zhang Shunzhi’s stepmother who agreed to settle privately after taking some money.

Not long after that, Zhang Shunzhi jumped into the well. Her stepmother even held an event, collecting wedding fees for it.

But all this information came from villagers, and its authenticity is yet to be verified. Although rumors, they likely have some basis, and many people in Qingshu Village certainly know Zhao Dongyang, that’s for sure.

"What do you think, Little Su?" Lin Chengcai asked, looking at him after hearing Li Zijun’s report.

Su Qing took a deep breath, furrowing his brows. "It’s tough. There are no living witnesses now."

"It’s indeed tricky, but if we can confirm that the deceased had such an experience, then many things can be explained. Revenge, disposing of the body, a motive for murder if the killer has a relationship with that girl," Lin Chengcai said, pacing back and forth.

"But then, what’s it got to do with Ah Qing?" Du Qiang pondered, puzzled.

Li Zijun also slightly frowned at this.

"Forget about what it has to do with me. The current task is to verify the authenticity of this account, at least find some clues. I propose we go to the Zhang Family to have a look because, at this point, this matter indeed involves some relations," Su Qing suggested.

"Little Su is right. We can’t just keep discussing this here. Xiao Qiang, report the news to the bureau, and send a copy to Old Yang. Ask him to keep an eye on things. Little Su, you and Zijun come with me to the Zhang Family!" Finally, Captain Old Lin decided on their next step.

"Yes!" *2

Li Zijun and Du Qiang replied in unison.

After all, as police officers, there’s no room for error when it comes to following protocols.

In contrast, Su Qing seemed laid-back, hands in pockets, acting nonchalantly, yet a glint of sharpness flashed through his squinted eyes.

Finally, he managed to steer the momentum. As long as Lin Chengcai, representing police power, aligned with his goal, he had room to maneuver.

Whoever the other party is, whatever their intention may be, in simple terms, since they’re involving him, they will eventually contact him.

By then, no matter what motive the other party has, he will be able to seize control, considering he doesn’t even know what the other party intends to do yet.

Since it involves his own safety, he has to be cautious. After all, he’s never been a reckless, daring person—life is precious.
