Chapter 645 - 315: Some Progress Has Been Made

Chapter 645: Chapter 315: Some Progress Has Been Made

"Especially when the enemy suddenly changed position, your marking speed was 0.3 seconds slower than expected!"

"That’s not my fault, it was system lag!" Bai Lin pushed up his glasses and calmly explained.

"The simulator’s data transmission can be unstable sometimes. I’ve already logged it and will optimize it tomorrow!"

"The system is an external factor. The problem is still you!" Li Chang’an didn’t back down.

"Even with lag, you need to have a counter-strategy.

On the battlefield, 0.3 seconds can be the difference between life and death!"

Bai Lin didn’t argue back and simply nodded.

The debriefing lasted nearly two hours, and everyone’s performance was pulled apart and analyzed.

From individual skills to teamwork, Li Chang’an pointed out nearly every single issue.

"Alright, let’s wrap this up." Li Chang’an closed his notebook.

"We’re still a long way from being a top-tier squad.

But your performance today was an improvement.

Next, we’ll need to conduct specialized training to address these issues!"

"More specialized training..." Han Ruoxi slumped in her chair, looking as if she’d lost the will to live.

"Captain, this schedule is completely inhumane!"

"Mercy is unnecessary." Li Chang’an stood at the head of the table, his hands planted on its surface as his gaze swept over them.

"We’re not here on vacation. We’re here to fight a war.

Remember, every mistake any of you make isn’t just your problem—it’s the squad’s problem.

Understood?"

"Understood..." the team replied resignedly, their voices heavy with exhaustion.

"Dismissed!" Li Chang’an waved a hand and walked out of the briefing room.

That evening, the atmosphere in the lounge was unusually relaxed. Everyone was gathered around when Sun Yang suggested playing a little game to unwind.

"How about a little Q&A game?" Sun Yang’s eyes lit up.

"Everyone shares their most thrilling experience. Whoever’s story is the lamest has to do push-ups!"

"Lame." Shen Qiuyue leaned back in her chair, tossing out the single, cold word.

"Seriously, Princess, you’re being so antisocial!" Sun Yang feigned a wounded expression.

"Everyone’s exhausted. We need a little entertainment!"

"Fine, let’s just play one round," Han Ruoxi cut in.

"If it’s too lame, I’m the first one out!"

"I’ll start, then!" Sun Yang said excitedly.

"I remember this one time during training, right after I first got to the base. I was in a weighted-pack race with a bunch of other rookies.

Halfway through, my gear bag suddenly burst open and everything spilled out! I was scrambling to pick it all up while still running, and the drill instructor nearly punished me to death for it..."

"Of course that would happen to you," Han Ruoxi quipped mercilessly.

"Next! That story was so lame."

"Then I’ll tell one," Bai Lin said, adjusting his glasses.

"One time, I hacked into the base’s entertainment system and changed all the audio outputs to chicken crows.

It drove the entire base crazy, but no one ever found out it was me!"

"Now that’s an interesting one!" Sun Yang immediately perked up.

"So that’s why! I was wondering why all the broadcasts were chicken crows when I woke up that morning!"

"Okay, your turn, Han Ruoxi!" Bai Lin nudged her.

"Me?" Han Ruoxi hesitated for a second.

"Fine... One time during training, I accidentally injured the Captain.

He didn’t say a word then, but the next day he tripled my training regimen.

I can still picture his ice-cold expression to this day!"

"Hahaha!" Sun Yang collapsed onto the table, roaring with laughter.

"You accidentally injured the Captain? You’ve got a lot of nerve!"

"Shut up!" Han Ruoxi’s face flushed red as she grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.

"Okay, last one! Shen Qiuyue!" Sun Yang wiped a tear of laughter from his eye.

"Come on, Princess. You’ve got to have something worth sharing, right?"

Shen Qiuyue glanced up at them and spoke coolly.

"I don’t."

"Not acceptable!" Sun Yang protested immediately.

"If you don’t share, the rules say you have to do push-ups!"

"Whatever." Shen Qiuyue stood up and started walking toward her room.

"You guys have fun."

"Man, that ’Princess’ is impossible..." Sun Yang sighed in resignation, then turned to Han Ruoxi.

"How about you and I go a few rounds? Can’t let the party die down, right?"

「Early the next morning.」

Just as the sky began to lighten, the shouts of the Insect Hunter Squad could already be heard from the training ground.

As per Li Chang’an’s plan, the intensity of that day’s training was kicked up another notch.

"Today’s agenda is physical conditioning, paired with tactical response drills!" Li Chang’an announced, standing before the squad with a chart in his hand.

"You’ll split into three groups and rotate. One group on the obstacle course, one on combat simulation, and the last on a reaction drill.

Each rotation is fifteen minutes. You’ll cycle through three times!"

"Captain, this is brutal!" Sun Yang groaned, stretching his arms.

"With a schedule like this, it’s obvious you don’t want us making it back to the barracks alive!"

"If you can survive your missions, it means the training is working," Li Chang’an replied flatly.

"Enough talk. Begin!"

Sun Yang barely made it through the first round on the obstacle course, gritting his teeth the entire way.

The course was littered with obstacles of all shapes and sizes: walls to scale, sections for crawling, and even a part where they had to leap between rolling logs.

Each section left him completely drained.

"Captain, are these logs supposed to be this slippery?" Sun Yang yelled over his shoulder, gasping for breath.

"I nearly fell to my death back there!"

"It’s a problem with your form," Li Chang’an said from the sidelines, the timer in his hand beeping steadily.

"Fall again on the next round, and you’re adding ten push-ups!"

"This is inhuman!" Sun Yang pushed onward, on the verge of tears.
