Chapter 682 - 333: Cleaning Up the Equipment

Chapter 682: Chapter 333: Cleaning Up the Equipment

"Captain... no more laps... I really can’t run anymore..."

Suddenly, a frantic knock sounded at the door.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

"Everybody up! Assembly!"

Instructor Wei Zhuang’s familiar, intimidating voice came through.

"If you’re not assembled in five minutes, everyone gets extra training today!"

Sun Yang shot up in bed, rubbing his eyes groggily.

"What’s going on? Weren’t we supposed to be resting? Why is that instructor torturing us again?"

"Rest?"

Shen Qiuyue snorted, already pulling on her jacket and grabbing her sword on her way out.

"Take a look around. Do you see the word ’rest’ written anywhere in this base? Hurry up. Any slower and the instructor will actually make you run laps!"

"Sister Qiuyue, you were born without a shred of mercy!"

Sun Yang grumbled as he put on his shoes.

"I had just fallen asleep, and this instructor is like an alarm clock. When will this life ever end!"

"Keep talking and you can go back to sleep!"

Han Ruoxi, having already tied her hair into a ponytail, walked past him.

"But don’t expect anyone to stick up for you during the extra training later!"

Sun Yang gritted his teeth.

"Ugh, fine, fine! I give up!"

Li Chang’an, already fully dressed, glanced at him from the doorway.

"Three minutes left!"

"Captain! You’re so heartless!"

Sun Yang fumbled with his belt buckle, stomping his foot in frustration.

"Can’t you guys wait for me for a second? I just woke up, it’s normal to be a little slow!"

"Keep dawdling and you can just stay here!"

Without turning back, Li Chang’an pushed the door open and walked straight out.

"Hey, hey, hey! Don’t go, Captain! Wait for me!"

Sun Yang scrambled after him, his shoelaces still untied.

At the assembly point, Instructor Wei Zhuang stood before the squad, hands clasped behind his back, his gaze sweeping over them.

"Not bad. You were a minute faster than usual today,"

Wei Zhuang said coolly.

"However, Sun Yang—"

Hearing his name, Sun Yang stiffened and immediately stood ramrod straight.

"Instructor, here!"

"Your shoelace is untied!"

Wei Zhuang said flatly.

Sun Yang looked down, his expression instantly changing. He bent over to tie his shoelace with the speed of a shooting star.

"Almost done! Almost done!"

The others couldn’t help but snicker. Han Ruoxi whispered,

"This is all he’s good for."

Wei Zhuang glanced at Sun Yang and continued,

"Today’s training is simple: practical combat.

In a moment, you’ll split into two teams for a squad battle in the simulation field. I want to see your teamwork and individual adaptability!"

"Instructor, isn’t this a bit sudden?"

Sun Yang looked up, his face a mask of protest.

"Didn’t we just get back from a mission? Can’t we rest for a couple of days before doing combat training?"

"If you think it’s sudden, you don’t have to participate!"

Wei Zhuang sneered.

"However, you can choose to run thirty laps around the base as an alternative!"

Sun Yang immediately waved his hands.

"No, no! Instructor, I was just asking, just asking! I’ll give it my all!"

"Then cut the crap!"

Wei Zhuang said coldly.

"Li Chang’an, you make the teams!"

"Understood!"

Li Chang’an nodded and looked at the squad.

"Me, Shen Qiuyue, and Bai Lin on one team.

Sun Yang and Han Ruoxi on the other!"

Sun Yang was instantly displeased.

"Captain! These teams aren’t fair! Our team has no commander, I have to carry the whole thing myself. How are we supposed to play like this?"

"Don’t you always say you’re the pillar of the team?"

Li Chang’an replied flatly.

"This is a perfect chance to test your abilities."

"Captain, your words wound me..." Sun Yang had a look of utter despair.

"But fine, for Ruo Xi’s sake, I’ll reluctantly accept!"

"Just don’t drag me down!"

Han Ruoxi rolled her eyes and shook the Electric Power Bracelet on her wrist.

"Don’t choke when the time comes!"

"Hey, don’t worry!"

Sun Yang patted his chest.

"With my skills, forget the simulation field, I could handle a real battlefield!"

Shen Qiuyue shot him a look.

"Then let’s see these ’skills’ of yours!"

Sun Yang felt a shiver run down his spine under her gaze, but he talked tough.

"You can look all you want! Don’t think I’m scared!"

Inside the simulation field, both teams were in position.

Holographic projectors constructed the area into a stretch of dilapidated urban ruins. Buildings were collapsed, smoke filled the air, and usable cover and traps were everywhere.

"Are you ready?"

Wei Zhuang stood at the control console and pressed the start button.

"Begin!"

The lights in the field dimmed, and the simulated battle officially began.

Sun Yang pulled Han Ruoxi behind a pile of rubble and whispered,

"Ruo Xi, we need a strategy first! That guy Li Chang’an’s brain is practically a cheat code. He’s definitely already thought of several plans. Why don’t we just play dirty and hide?"

"You can go hide by yourself!"

Han Ruoxi’s voice was cold as a faint arc of electricity gathered in her hand.

"You can’t hide from someone like Li Chang’an. He’ll just pick us off one by one.

It’s better to attack proactively. At least we can seize the initiative!"

"Are you really that confident?"

Sun Yang’s voice was a little shaky.

"What if we get pincered?"

"You’re fire support, I’m ranged Superpower. If we can’t win, we run.

Just don’t give any stupid orders!"

Han Ruoxi said coldly.

"Remember, don’t drag me down!"

"How could I possibly drag you down!"

Sun Yang gritted his teeth.

"Fine, I’ll listen to you!"

The two advanced quickly, carefully searching for traces of the other team among the ruins.

However, just as they reached the entrance to an alley, Sun Yang keenly sensed something was wrong.

"Wait, it’s a little too quiet here..."

"What’s wrong?"

Han Ruoxi turned her head.

"The Captain and the others must be lying in ambush!"

Sun Yang looked around nervously.

"You think he’s over there waiting for us to walk right into it?"

"So, do you want to go around, or charge straight through?"

Han Ruoxi glanced at him.

Sun Yang hesitated for a moment.

"Go around, let’s go around... Play it safe!"

But just as he turned, he heard a low RUMBLE and felt a slight tremor under his feet.

"Crap, the Captain’s here!"

Sun Yang yelled and dove directly into nearby cover.

"Ruo Xi, cover me!"

"Cover your ass!"

Han Ruoxi retorted while unleashing an arc of electricity, precisely striking Bai Lin who was charging out from the other side.

Bai Lin’s figure was hit instantly. The hologram flickered, clearly indicating he was "eliminated."

"What an ambush!"

Sun Yang couldn’t help but exclaim.

"Ruo Xi, your skill is insane! A one-shot kill!"

"Less talk!"

Han Ruoxi shot him a glare.

"Hurry up and find a position, or Li Chang’an will be on us in a second!"

"I know! I know!"

Sun Yang hastily changed position while firing a few wild shots toward the distant ruins.

"Captain! Don’t go so hard! We’re teammates, after all!"

Before the words had left his mouth, Shen Qiuyue’s figure charged out from the shadows to the side, her Dueling Sword slashing viciously at Sun Yang.

"AHHH! HELP ME!"

Sun Yang screamed, scrambling and rolling to one side.

"Sister Qiuyue! Have mercy! Can’t we resolve this peacefully?!"

"No!"

Shen Qiuyue replied coldly, chasing right after him.

"Ruo Xi! Save me!"

Sun Yang’s voice was filled with a growing Despair.

"Figure it out yourself!"

Han Ruoxi said as she repositioned.

A few moments later, the battle in the simulation field was gradually drawing to a close.

Although Sun Yang and Han Ruoxi fought with all their might, they still couldn’t withstand the combined assault of Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue.

The training ended. As the group walked out of the simulation field, Sun Yang collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily.

"I can’t take it anymore... That was basically Hell mode! Captain, you two are way too ruthless!"

"You fought well,"

Li Chang’an offered rare praise.

"But your movements are too slow, and your reactions are too poor."

"Thanks for the compliment, Captain..." Sun Yang said weakly.

"But I really think your team was just bullying us!"

"You wasted plenty of bullets yourself,"

Shen Qiuyue said coldly.

"In a real fight, you would’ve been eaten by the Insect Race long ago!"

"Don’t even mention the Insect Race!"

Sun Yang clutched his head.
