Chapter 723 - 354: This Is Too Unbearable

Chapter 723: Chapter 354: This Is Too Unbearable

"Alright, alright, I’ll shout less from now on!"

Sun Yang waved his hand in resignation.

"But I can’t just keep my mouth shut the whole time, right? That’s torture!"

"No one’s telling you to keep your mouth shut!"

Li Chang’an gave him a cool glance.

"Just less nonsense and more work, understand?"

"Understood!"

Sun Yang snapped to attention and saluted, his face serious.

"Captain, I’ll definitely change my ways!"

"Bai Lin, do you have anything to add?"

Li Chang’an looked toward Bai Lin, who had been silent the whole time.

"Not too many issues!"

Bai Lin replied in a low voice.

"I’d just suggest that the Captain pay more attention to the feedback from tech support next time. The real-time information we provide can sometimes be more reliable than what you see with the naked eye!"

"Mm, you’re right."

Li Chang’an nodded.

"I’ll be more mindful of that in the future. Alright, as long as everyone learned something, that’s what matters. That’s all for today. Dismissed!"

After the debriefing, everyone went their separate ways.

Shen Qiuyue had already showered and returned, and was leaning against her headboard reading a book.

Han Ruoxi was fiddling with her small charging device, clearly preparing for the next mission.

Sun Yang ran to the common area to brag to members of other squads, his voice ridiculously loud.

"Let me tell you, today’s combat training was just like a real battlefield! Swarms of insects came one after another, and even the Captain had to join the fight!"

"Oh yeah? So how’d you do?"

A member of another squad teased him.

"Did you get chased all over the place by insects again?"

"Nonsense!"

Sun Yang struck a self-righteous pose.

"I, Sun Yang, never run! I was rock-steady out there, one shot, one kill. Perfect accuracy!"

"Stop bragging, Sun Yang!"

Li Chang’an was passing by and tapped on the table.

"If you keep this up, what if people actually start to believe you?"

"Captain!"

Sun Yang stood up with a grin.

"I’m just making our squad look good!"

"Less bragging, more eating. Let’s go."

Li Chang’an shook his head and turned toward the cafeteria.

"Han Ruoxi, Qiuyue, Bai Lin, you guys stop dawdling. Eat up and get some rest!"

At dinnertime, the cafeteria was bustling with people. The Insect Hunter Squad found a table near the side.

Li Chang’an held his tray and ate with his head down, completely undisturbed by the surrounding noise.

Sun Yang was a different story. He kept looking around while chewing the meat in his mouth.

"Chang’an, you think the chef’s doing this on purpose? Why does the food still taste the same? It’s exactly like yesterday!"

Sun Yang frowned, pointing at the potatoes on his plate.

"These potatoes just have some chili powder on them. What’s the difference?"

"If you don’t like it, eat less!"

Li Chang’an replied coolly without even looking up.

"Or why don’t you go to the kitchen and give them a demonstration?"

"Oh, come on. I don’t have that kind of skill!"

Sun Yang pursed his lips.

"But this food really is terrible. Eating like this every day, I feel like I’m devolving!"

"Complain less. You’ll still eat it when you’re hungry, won’t you?"

Han Ruoxi put a piece of meat in her mouth, swallowed, and then looked up.

"Besides, this is from the best batch of ingredients the base has. We’re at war; you can’t just have whatever you want."

"Han Ruoxi is right!"

Shen Qiuyue wiped her mouth, her eyes calm.

"In the Combat Group, this is already considered pretty good. If you think it’s so bad, you can apply for a transfer to the front lines. The food there is even worse!"

"Ouch, Sister Qiuyue, that’s harsh!"

Sun Yang clutched his chest dramatically.

"How would I dare go to the front lines! I’d like to hang on to my dear life for a few more years!"

"Then shut up!"

Shen Qiuyue replied coldly and went back to eating.

Bai Lin hadn’t said a word, just quietly eating his meal.

Han Ruoxi noticed and nudged his arm.

"Bai Lin, why are you so quiet? Is the food not good?"

"It’s nothing."

Bai Lin glanced up at her, his voice calm.

"There’s just nothing to say."

"Alright, then. You really don’t waste words, do you!"

Han Ruoxi shrugged and didn’t press him further.

Just then, a burst of laughter came from the next table.

A group of members from other squads were gathered together, seemingly discussing something interesting.

Sun Yang leaned over to take a look, then immediately turned back.

"Hey, Chang’an, it looks like they’re making a bet over there—about who dares to take on the simulated Insect King solo! You dare to go?"

Li Chang’an ignored him and just kept eating.

Han Ruoxi couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

"Sun Yang, can you stop with these pointless suggestions? We just finished training, and now you want to fight a simulated Insect King? Is there something wrong with your brain?"

"I’m just trying to have a little fun!"

Sun Yang scratched his head, chuckling sheepishly.

"Besides, our Captain is so strong, if he really fought it, it’d probably be a piece of cake for him!"

"Don’t flatter me."

Li Chang’an finally spoke, his tone flat.

"Finish your food and go rest. We have a mission tomorrow. Don’t get involved in any nonsense!"

"Ah, Chang’an, you’re so boring!"

Sun Yang shook his head helplessly.

"How can you have zero sense of fun? No wonder Han Ruoxi always says you’re like a block of wood!"

"Did I say that?"

Han Ruoxi shot him a glare.

"Stop trying to pin everything on me!"

"Can you two be quiet?"

Shen Qiuyue finally couldn’t take it anymore. She put down her chopsticks and looked at the two of them.

"You can even argue like this while eating. Aren’t you tired?"

"Sister Qiuyue has spoken! Shutting up, shutting up!"

Sun Yang quickly raised his hands, looking like he was surrendering.

"I’m shutting up, alright?!"

After dinner, the squad returned to the dormitory area.

As usual, Li Chang’an checked his equipment, then sat down and began to read the *Martial Scripture*.

He had just turned to the second page when he heard Sun Yang’s loud voice coming from the next room.
