Chapter 669 - 324: Sun Jialin’s Thoughts

Chapter 669: Chapter 324: Sun Jialin’s Thoughts

What Zhou Min cared about more right now was how Sun Jialin had broken up with her ex, and why she had claimed she made a mistake.

"Based on Qingqing’s description, your ex-boyfriend must be a pretty great guy," Zhou Min analyzed. "Look, Qingqing said the guy who asked her out was excellent in every aspect. So why did you break up with him?"

Seeing Zhou Min’s eyes brimming with curiosity, Sun Jialin weighed her words for a moment before replying softly, "I just got bored. No special reason."

Bored? Zhou Min’s eyes widened in surprise, but she honestly didn’t doubt the authenticity of that excuse. In her eyes, Sun Jialin was an aloof goddess with absolutely zero interest in romance. She figured dating someone like her would be exhausting; a guy would never be able to figure out what she was thinking or what she liked. If Zhou Min were a guy, she would much prefer dating a cute, sweet girl like Gu Wanqing. Sure, Sun Jialin had a better figure and knew exactly how to draw a man’s gaze, but for an actual relationship, Gu Wanqing was the clear choice.

Therefore, Zhou Min didn’t press Sun Jialin any further, silently digesting the information she had learned tonight instead.

Seeing that Zhou Min had dropped the subject, Sun Jialin quietly breathed a sigh of relief. She was so thankful she had managed to keep it hidden, as Zhou Min had nearly discovered the truth. However, given how smug Gu Wanqing was acting right now, it would be all too easy for Zhou Min and Wang Meng to notice something was off! If they actually found out the real story and spread it around campus, it would ruin both Jiang Wan’s and Gu Wanqing’s reputations.

Because of this, as soon as Gu Wanqing came back up from her shower, Sun Jialin pulled her out of the dorm. Finding a quiet corner, she warned her in a grave tone, "Zhou Min already knows about Lin Shen."

Sun Jialin’s words struck like a bolt from the blue, throwing Gu Wanqing into a total panic. She wasn’t ready to lay her cards on the table with Jiang Wan yet. How did Zhou Min find out?

"How does she know?" Gu Wanqing asked.

"You were showing off too much," Sun Jialin said, crossing her arms and looking at her coldly. She then recounted her entire conversation with Zhou Min, leaving no detail out.

Now Gu Wanqing understood. So that was what happened!

"Then I have to go explain things to Zhou Min!" Gu Wanqing said, desperate to clear the air, but Sun Jialin stopped her.

"No need. I already took care of it for you."

Seeing Gu Wanqing’s bewildered expression, Sun Jialin let out a soft sigh and explained exactly how she had smoothed things over.

Overwhelmed with gratitude after hearing the explanation, Gu Wanqing grabbed Sun Jialin’s hands. "Linlin! Thank you! I love you so much!"

"You don’t need to thank me. I only did what I had to do," Sun Jialin said, her expression remaining impassive. "Just make sure you don’t let anything slip later."

"I won’t." Gu Wanqing nodded frantically, her eyes brimming with appreciation. "Linlin, is there anything you need me to do? I’ll agree to anything! It’s the least I can do to thank you for helping me cover this up at the cost of your own reputation."

To be honest, Sun Jialin didn’t really want anything from Gu Wanqing. That plush toy had been more than enough of a bribe. But since Gu Wanqing was offering, there was no reason to refuse.

After a moment of thought, Sun Jialin suddenly spoke up. "Alright then. I want you to play matchmaker for me. I want some time alone with Lin Shen."

Hearing this request, Gu Wanqing’s immediate internal reaction was anger and jealousy. However, Sun Jialin really had done her a massive favor by helping hide the truth about Lin Shen. Plus, Gu Wanqing wasn’t the type to take advantage of others or leave a debt unpaid. Still, when it came to letting her spend time alone with Lin Shen, Gu Wanqing felt a lump in her chest and a spark of resentment, wondering why Sun Jialin should get a chance when she herself hadn’t even spent much time alone with him.

Regardless, she decided to agree to it first. Gu Wanqing replied in a small voice, "I suppose that’s fine. But the holidays are coming up, and Lin Shen has to go back to his hometown for something. You might have to wait until you get back to see him."

"No problem."

In truth, Sun Jialin just wanted to test Gu Wanqing’s attitude. As long as she wasn’t strongly opposed to Sun Jialin deepening her relationship with Lin Shen, Sun Jialin had plenty of ways to spend time with him. Men were visual creatures; who didn’t know how to seduce a man? She had already started mentally planning how to interact with Lin Shen after the National Day holiday.

Meanwhile, Gu Wanqing remained incredibly worried that Zhou Min might expose the truth about Lin Shen. But no matter what happened, everything would have to wait until the holidays were over.

Monday, September 29, 2025.

14°C – 25°C, sunny, Level 2 northeast wind, 21% humidity.

At Sunac Binjiang No.1 Courtyard, a black commercial van slowly pulled up to the residential complex gates. Seeing an unfamiliar vehicle, the security guard originally intended to stop it, ask for details, and register the visitors. However, he noticed the words "Chenxin Household Management" plastered on the side of the van. As a guard at Sunac Binjiang No.1 Courtyard, he was very familiar with high-end domestic service companies like Chenxin, which specialized in providing nannies for ultra-wealthy families. He only needed to ask which household they were serving.

"Building 8, Unit 2102."

"Alright, let me check for you." The guard waved a hand, then called Lin Shen. "Hello! Mr. Lin, did you book a service with Chenxin Household Management? Oh, okay. I’ll let them in right now."

After hanging up, the guard raised the boom barrier for the van. The Chenxin Household Management vehicle navigated through the underground garage, winding its way to Building 8.

Shortly after, two people stepped out of the commercial van. One was a manager wearing a black suit, and the other was an incredibly capable-looking nanny dressed in a spotless navy blue uniform. When the two of them took the elevator up to Unit 2102, the smart door lock automatically scanned them and issued a warning: "Strangers detected."

DING!

Before the lock could beep a second time, Lin Shen opened the door. He was in the middle of washing up, still wearing his pajamas. Seeing the staff, he smiled. "Are you from Chenxin Household Management?"

"Yes, Mr. Lin," the manager said, introducing himself. "You can just call me Zhao. And this is the five-star gold-medal nanny we’ve arranged for you, Mrs. Chen."

"Hello, Mr. Lin." Mrs. Chen bowed slightly to greet him, prompting Lin Shen to study her carefully.

She looked to be in her early forties, but she was fundamentally different from Shen Yun. Because Shen Yun spent so much time and money on her appearance, she looked like she was only in her early thirties. This nanny, however, looked much more like a typical middle-aged woman around forty-five. She had a kind, approachable face and her hair was tied back. Although her figure was slightly stout, she moved with surprising agility. It was obvious at a glance that she was a hardworking woman who was used to manual labor. She perfectly fit Lin Shen’s impression of a proper nanny.

"Hello." After Lin Shen shook hands with Mrs. Chen, Zhao proactively brought out her credentials for him to inspect.

"Mr. Lin, please take a look. These are Mrs. Chen’s health certificate, background check, and skill certifications, which include luxury goods maintenance, Western cuisine culinary arts, childcare, and tea ceremony. She is one of Chenxin’s most well-rounded, top-tier nannies."

Lin Shen was somewhat surprised by Mrs. Chen’s vast array of skills, marveling inwardly that reaching the peak of any profession really did require immense diligence and hard work.

"Does this meet your expectations?" Zhao asked.

"It’s great." Lin Shen didn’t make a fuss, smiling as he invited the two of them inside. "Come in, let’s talk."

"Understood." Zhao and Mrs. Chen first sanitized their hands with alcohol, then slipped on shoe covers before carrying their various bags into the living room.

Seeing that Lin Shen lived all alone in such a massive luxury flat, even the experienced and knowledgeable manager couldn’t help but marvel. This wealthy heir really was something!

"Mr. Lin, this is our domestic nanny contract and her personal portfolio. Please take a look." After taking a seat on the sofa, Zhao pulled a few contracts from a folder and handed them to Lin Shen. The documents clearly outlined the various services provided, as well as the fees.

Eighty thousand yuan a month—even in Modu, that price was considered quite steep. However, the first-month probation period was forty thousand yuan, a fifty percent discount. That was a pretty good service policy.

Lin Shen nodded in satisfaction.
