Chapter 1113: Shopping Around The City

Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113: Shopping Around The City

After settling the bill, the trio turned and left the meat shop, continuing their relaxed stroll down the bustling market street. As they walked, Bai Xifeng’s eyes sparkled at every stall they passed, and she happily bought up various street food snacks, roasted skewers, and sweet treats whenever she saw something that caught her fancy.

"Are you honestly planning on eating every single bit of that food yourself?" Xie Lanying asked, eyeing the endless snacks disappearing into Bai Xifeng’s spatial storage.

"Not really! At least half of all these treats are saved for Tao-chan." Bai Xifeng stated righteously.

"So that means the other half is entirely for you." Xie Lanying gave Bai Xifeng a teasing, knowing look.

Bai Xifeng simply offered her a radiant, unbothered smile.

"Aren’t you even a tiny bit worried that eating this much will make you gain weight?" Ning Shoukai asked, raising an eyebrow at her constant eating.

"I highly doubt it." Bai Xifeng smirked back at him playfully.

"Besides, having a little bit of softness is a good thing! If a girl looks far too thin, it just means she does not have enough delicious food to eat." Xie Lanying immediately chimed in, stepping up to support Bai Xifeng.

"Yeah, exactly! Being way too thin does not feel comfortable to hug at all." Bai Xifeng added, nodding in complete agreement.

"Ah... I seriously cannot win against you two." Ning Shoukai sighed heavily, raising both hands up in total defeat. "Not in a physical martial sparring match, and definitely not in an argument! You two really know how to effortlessly counter every single one of my attacks."

The three of them laughed as they continued wandering through the lively city, purchasing various travel provisions and supplies along the way. They did not feel the slightest bit worried about buying too much, since every single item could be instantly and safely tucked away inside the spatial storage rune. Best of all, time stood still inside the rune’s spatial pocket, meaning none of the fresh food or ingredients would ever spoil while stored inside.

The trio continued strolling through the lively city streets until the sky turned completely dark, lit only by glowing lanterns hung outside shopfronts. Only then did Xie Lanying pause and mention that it was probably time to head back to the inn. Both Bai Xifeng and Ning Shoukai readily agreed, so the three of them made their way back together. When they stepped inside the cosy lobby, the innkeeper immediately stepped out from behind the counter with a polite, welcoming smile.

"Good evening, valued customers! I am deeply sorry to inform you, but our inn is completely booked for the night. We have no empty rooms remaining." The innkeeper said apologetically, bowing his head slightly.

"Wait, fully booked?!" Ning Shoukai exclaimed in surprise.

"Sir, by any chance, is there a traveller with the surname Xie currently staying here?" Xie Lanying stepped forward to ask politely.

"Eh? Ah, are you the remaining companions travelling with them?" The innkeeper’s eyes lit up in realisation as he patted his forehead. "Hold on just a second! He specifically mentioned earlier that three more members of their group would be arriving later this evening."

"Yes, exactly. We are indeed part of that group." Xie Lanying nodded with a warm smile.

"May I please confirm your names? He wrote down a complete list for me." The innkeeper stated, pulling out a wooden ledger.

"I am Xie Lanying. These two are Bai Xifeng and Ning Shoukai." Xie Lanying stated, gesturing toward her friends on either side.

"Ah, the names match perfectly! Let me fetch your keys right away." The innkeeper turned around, pulling three iron keys from the brass hooks on the wall. "Here are your room keys. Your quarters are located on the second floor. You can easily find your designated rooms by matching the number stamped on each key to the brass plaque on the door."

Xie Lanying grabbed the set of keys and distributed them to Bai Xifeng and Ning Shoukai.

"By the way, dinner service will begin in the main dining hall around 8 p.m." The innkeeper helpfully reminded them.

"Thank you very much, Sir." Xie Lanying nodded politely.

With their keys in hand, the three of them headed up the wooden stairs to their respective rooms to unpack and get some rest before dinner.

Once safely inside her private room, Bai Xifeng locked the door and immediately summoned Tao-chan out from her spatial realm. She then pulled out a mountain of the mouthwatering snacks and treats she had purchased at the market earlier, laying them out neatly across the table. Tao-chan’s round eyes lit up with pure joy the moment he saw the feast lined up before him.

"All of this is for you." Bai Xifeng said with a soft smile.

Tao-chan did not hesitate for a single second, diving straight into the pile of food and stuffing his cheeks full with sheer delight.

"Ahhh... delicious!" Tao-chan let out a deeply satisfied sigh, his eyes sparkling.

"Because there are outside travellers journeying right alongside our group right now, I can’t let you come out into the open." Bai Xifeng explained gently, leaning against the table. "It might cause unnecessary chaos or suspicion if they suddenly find out about your existence."

"I understand, I understand... but you definitely have to bring me more feast-worthy food like this later on!" Tao-chan munched happily, barely pausing between bites.

"Hmm... I promise." Bai Xifeng chuckled, patting his head.

Suddenly, a crisp knock echoed against her door. Bai Xifeng pushed herself off the table, walked over to the door, and unlatched it.

"Who is it?" Bai Xifeng asked, opening it a crack.
