Dual Cultivation: Ying Yang is way to Chaos

Chapter 492: Guards

Chapter 492: Guards

"Why..."

Lin Feng wasn’t able to hold himself back from asking that.

"Why indeed... Hmm, I really don’t want to tell you about it since this is a much deeper topic and it might shake your beliefs. Are you sure you want to listen about it?"

Lin Feng knew that if a senior like her was stating that, then he was really going to learn some deeply hidden secret, "Yes, senior, please tell me..."

There was a brief silence before the ethereal voice was heard by him again.

"What do you think Heaven is?"

Lin Feng frowned. It was a question which was debatable, but the most promising conclusion was, "Order.."

"Yes, order and balance. It does everything to achieve that. So tell me, who can really create imbalance in the Heavenly Realm?"

Lin Feng’s eyes widened slightly as he heard that question. He immediately came to a conclusion, "Supreme Dao Lord beings..." With this conclusion, he could already see where this conversation was going.

"Yes, the path of cultivation is the only way for mortals to reach closer to Heaven, but that also means holding strength which can create imbalance in the Heavenly Law..."

Lin Feng listened quietly while his heartbeat was increasing as he began figuring out the truth himself.

"The cultivation realm has a ceiling and it is very obvious why, but not many people know that for some reason that ceiling doesn’t apply to living beings.

If they can figure out a way to break free from the shackles of this ceiling of cultivation realms, then reaching even more closer to Heaven wouldn’t be a dream anymore... and this is something Heaven wouldn’t let happen no matter what.

This is where the real tapestry starts.. Heavenly law is bound by it’s own rules and because of this it cannot directly intervene, so it came with a meticulous play, to use the concept of give and take, an enticing reward which no sane being would decline, true immortality..."

Lin Feng trembled slightly.

"Do you know what happens when you get that mark? Let me tell you what I felt...

The day I received it was the day I felt relieved, since just like anyone else, immortality was the thing I desired the most. It was as if I had achieved everything in my life...

My strength increased further due to that title of Dao Ancestor in my domain, and that strength was a qualitative change which you wouldn’t even gain after hundreds of thousands of years of cultivation...

I lived in this peace and happiness for many years when suddenly, by chance, I finally pondered about my life before getting the mark of immortality.."

She stopped for a moment before continuing..

" I always had the desire to get stronger, peace was source of weakness for me, yet here I was so content with my peaceful life...

Then it hit me rather rudely. Even if I had achieved the peak of the strength a human can achieve, how did my personality change in just one day?

I loved to swing my sword even when I didn’t intend to cultivate, so why hadn’t I even picked it up for years?

Everything just didn’t make sense, and the more I thought, the more I felt that I had changed without even knowing about it... and all this happened after I got immortality, or more specifically, the Mark of Immortality.

It didn’t take me long to figure out that Heaven had silently made me complacent and slowly doused my hunger to get stronger by making me stronger in its own way... and slowly I figured out the reason why it had done that and all its hidden mechanisms.

This sly Heaven hadn’t just manipulated our thoughts but also made us its guards, who protected its interests by killing the strongest challengers or by dying to them. Either way, it was the biggest winner, as every challenge meant the removal of one strong obstacle which could have created imbalance in its rule.

The Seat of Immortality is so deeply rooted in everyone’s desires that no one would even try to think about just breaking the ceiling of the cultivation realm, which might open a new unseen path for them to walk..."

Lin Feng was completely rooted to his spot. Her words hit him harder than he had expected. After all, his whole efforts were meant for only one thing, to gain a seat for himself.

"After I became aware, I wanted to know if others were aware of this fact or not. I decided to visit someone, someone who had become a Dao Ancestor recently too, and my only friend, Ji Rui..."

Lin Feng’s heart stirred when he heard that name. He even failed to control his emotions slightly. He wasn’t expecting to hear this name so soon, and not even in his dreams had he imagined that it would be associated with a Dao Ancestor. Maybe senior was talking about someone else.

"Hm... your expression, do you know her? Because I am certain that even in her domain, not many have knowledge of her true name..."

Lin Feng controlled his emotions and shook his head, "Senior, I think you are talking about someone else. Also, I have just heard this name somewhere. I don’t personally know the person associated with it..."

It wasn’t a lie or the truth. He had a feeling he knew this person, but since it was still sealed behind the last piece of the Dream Barrier, he really didn’t know her at this moment.

"That might actually be true, since the Ji Rui I was referring to is very reclusive. She didn’t even meet Dao Ancestors if they came to her domain, so you meeting her might be a miracle..."

Lin Feng nodded.

"Anyway, when I talked to her about Heaven’s curse, I found out that she had already came to the same conclusion. That’s when it became obvious that others definitely knew about it too...they just don’t want to talk about it.

It wasn’t hard to understand why, the Heavenly Law.

Some might have just accepted it and didn’t care about it, and others might have been afraid... After all, the Heavenly Law is always watching, and no one wants to make Heaven their true enemy..."
