"You see, this invisible aura doesn't affect the souls of all cultivators equally. It affects those with higher cultivation realms far more than those with lower cultivation realms, and no one has been able to understand why this is the case... that's why every cultivator, whether they are mining or overseeing these pavilions, is at the Initiation Realm, because the impact they suffer is far less, with those in the Early Stage feeling almost a negligible amount of it.."

Lin Feng narrowed his eyes slightly, this mine was becoming more and more intriguing to him.

"Senior sister, why were those cultivators outside affected then?"

"Most probably they were mining in the deepest part that they are permitted to enter, where the effects are more prominent, and even Early Stage Initiation Realm cultivators cannot remain there for long.. so they come out from time to time to recuperate like this.."

Lin Feng gave a nod of understanding," I see... now I understand why those who are mining inside the mine are sect offenders.."

It was punishment, not a mission. No matter how slight the effect was, the soul was the most vulnerable part of a cultivator. No one would willingly mine here, especially when the true origin of this invisible aura remained unknown.

"Indeed, junior brother, it is a punishment, the sect even sends prisoners who aren't part of our sect here too, in that case, their cultivation realm isn't even taken into consideration, forcing them to endure far worse than our disciples.."

Lin Feng nodded thoughtfully.

"Senior sister, what is Senior Qi's opinion on it?"

Sun Xiurong shook her head slightly,"Master wasn't able to determine the exact reason for it either. She said she needed to be close to the source given her current state, but that is impossible, however, she said she had her own assumptions but didn't tell me about them. She only warned me not to venture too deep into the spirit mine.."

Lin Feng wasn't surprised, he had expected that. Senior Qi's existence was shrouded in unknown mysteries, it was impossible for her to do anything that might reveal her existence to the tapestry of fate.

"Senior sister, is it permitted to enter the mine?"

"You wish to venture inside, junior brother?"

Lin Feng nodded," Yes.."

Sun Xiurong shook her head slightly," It is dangerous, junior brother, you shouldn't go there.."

She didn't doubt his capabilities, someone who had achieved battle sense was already beyond her perception in many ways, but she was still worried, and somehow this feeling of concern for him had only grown stronger recently.

Lin Feng chuckled lightly," Senior sister, I will be fine.."

Sun Xiurong sighed," I can give you a special token which will allow you to enter inside, but it will only grant you access to one side of the mine which I am currently in charge of.."

"That will do, senior sister, I merely want to feel the effect of this unknown aura on my soul.."

"Alright.." Sun Xiurong took out a token from the compartment of the wooden table and passed it to Lin Feng," You can enter whenever you wish, junior brother, although I would suggest that you first complete your sect mission to avoid failing to complete it on time.."

Lin Feng put the token in his storage ring while nodding with a serious expression," How could I disregard my senior sister's words.."

Sun Xiurong looked at Lin Feng with an expressionless stare, she knew he was merely feigning seriousness, but it was difficult to expose him, she shook her head," There are other unoccupied chambers on this floor, junior brother, you can choose any one of them.."

Lin Feng smiled slightly," Are you trying to send me away from you, senior sister? My heart won't be able to bear this separation.."

Sun Xiurong fell silent before shaking her head," You really know how to twist words and flirt, junior brother.."

Lin Feng shook his head while his smile deepened," Senior sister, I hardly do something like that in front of you, or else we wouldn't be seated on different seats right now.."

Sun Xiurong took a little longer to comprehend his meaning, and when she finally understood, she became embarrassed and averted her gaze from him," Suit yourself then, junior brother, you might be interrupted if the assistant comes with a report regarding the spirit mine later.."

After saying that, Sun Xiurong took out some scrolls from the compartment in the table and began going through them to see the average number of spirit stones being mined these days and the incidents which had occurred recently.

Seeing that she had become occupied with her duties, Lin Feng shook his head slightly before taking out the spirit herbs and a cauldron.. The spirit pills he was about to refine were the most basic ones, and they weren't going to take much time for him to refine, forget about two days, he could refine them in a couple of hours without even taking them seriously.

He would also refine all the pills with three runes, even if the requirement was only for the two-rune pills. It's not like he was trying to do a favor for the sect, it was just that he felt it was somewhat beneath him to refine a two-rune pill.

With that thought, Lin Feng began refining without any specific preparation, casually taking out pill after pill from the cauldron. Sun Xiurong could not help but sigh inwardly at the astonishing sight.

The more she watched, the more astonished she became. In just an hour, he had refined more than forty pills, yet he didn't even seem exhausted in the slightest. She could only shake her head in slight numbness.

A few breaths later, she suddenly sensed something and stood up before leaving the chamber. When she came down to the ground floor, a Mid Stage Initiation Realm man had just entered the pavilion.

The man was surprised upon seeing her and bowed," Senior, I have brought a report.."

"Brief me.."

The man nodded and began explaining the current situation in the mine.

He reported the number of groups mining, the recent collapse of a section which didn't seem to have affected anything, and the degree of soul erosion.

Sun Xiurong listened to everything before dismissing the assistant," Alright, you can leave now.."
