Chapter 628: Tianxuan Mirror Infuses Divine Ability

Chapter 628: Tianxuan Mirror Infuses Divine Ability

"Would you like to spend ten thousand contribution points for one divine ability deduction? The first deduction has a one percent chance of success. Each subsequent deduction increases the probability of success, up to one hundred percent."

Li Fan stared expressionlessly at the prompt flashing on the Tianxuan Mirror and selected “confirm.”

Within the Myriad Immortals Alliance, system-affiliated cultivators gradually unlocked certain privileges as their merit rank rose.

This touched every aspect of cultivation life: reduced contribution point consumption when using teleportation arrays, more opportunities to sell items back to the Tianxuan Mirror at market price, and so forth.

Some privileges, however, only appeared at specific ranks.

The Yan 5 privilege: one free long-distance teleportation request per year.

The Yan 10 privilege: when searching for information in the Tianxuan Mirror, you could preview relevant data and item details that would normally be locked behind a cultivation realm higher than your own.

The Yan 15 privilege: once every ten years, you could randomly contact a cultivator one cultivation realm above yours through the Tianxuan Mirror. However, there were no forced responsibilities or obligations between the two parties. Whether you could maintain that relationship depended entirely on your own skill.

The Yan 20 privilege allowed cultivators to spend contribution points deriving divine abilities and combat techniques within Seated Dao Discourse.

It was just that this function... was a bit of a trap.

Not only did it consume an enormous number of contribution points, but it didn't even guarantee success.

Many system-affiliated cultivators complained that it was a tool specifically designed to recycle contribution points.

As Li Fan made his choice, the miniature figure modeled on his current appearance immediately began to move.

Its expression was stern, eyes fixed on empty space. The left hand struck out in a palm technique while the right swung a sword. A faint light erupted nearby, and the space there twisted into distortion.

Predictably, a notification arrived: "This deduction has failed. Would you like to spend fifteen thousand contribution points to continue?

"If you continue, the chance of success is two percent.

"If you give up, the deduction data will be reset, and next time you must start over from the beginning.

"You may also supplement the divine ability's data to increase the probability of success."

Li Fan chose to continue.

The miniature moved again. This time, the execution of the Congyun Sword and the Overturning Palm technique seemed marginally more vivid than before. But with such a slim probability of success, failure came quickly.

For the third deduction, the cost rose to twenty thousand contribution points. The probability of success had climbed only to three percent. Li Fan's expression did not change. He chose to continue.

The third attempt failed. Then the fourth. Then the fifth.

As the miniature's Congyun Sword and Overturning Palm grew increasingly suffused with the true essence of the divine ability, Li Fan began to understand what the Tianxuan Mirror's divine ability deduction function actually entailed.

In simple terms: one proposed a potential divine ability to the Tianxuan Mirror, defining its effects and power. The Tianxuan Mirror would then reverse-engineer all the conditions required to learn it, distill those conditions into transmissible experience, and pass that understanding to the cultivator.

It was comparable to the ancient stories of powerhouses who, upon witnessing a single exchange between fighters, could instantly grasp and replicate a divine ability the moment it was used.

This was called understanding by analogy, different paths leading to the same destination.

The more deductions performed, the more contribution points consumed. By the time a single deduction cost one hundred thousand points, the success probability had barely crawled to eighteen percent.

This technique deduction isn't something ordinary people can afford. The Tianxuan Mirror's own deductive ability surely isn't this pathetic. It's been set this way deliberately, designed to bleed contribution points dry.

And once you've sunk so much into it, the cost already paid is too high to abandon. Few would be willing to walk away. It's a quagmire, and I'm already in it.

After a moment's thought, Li Fan uploaded his insights on the Congyun Sword and Heaven-Overturning Palm to supplement the data.

The success probability instantly leapt from eighteen percent to seventy-eight, while the deduction cost stayed the same.

It seems deduction backed by theory is far superior to fabricating from thin air.

Li Fan performed the deduction again.

Seven-colored divine light descended from the heavens and fell upon the miniature figure. The miniature seemed to grasp something; its face settled into an expression of quiet satisfaction.

It let out a long howl, and with a single palm strike, the void before it inverted. Heaven and earth flipped. Several streaks of blue sword light flashed through, cutting across spacetime.

Before Li Fan, a golden light bloomed, and an exhilarating melody rang through his mind.

"Congratulations! You have successfully comprehended the divine ability: Heaven-Breaking Heart Sword!

"Ability Description: Unbound by form or technique, whether a fist, a palm, a sword, or a blade, all move as the heart wills, with the power to break heaven.

"Would you like to spend five hundred thousand contribution points to perform ability infusion?"

"You may also continue deducing the Heaven-Breaking Heart Sword to refine it further. The Dao has no limits.

"The first advanced deduction is fifty percent off, costing only fifty thousand contribution points. Success rate: eight percent."

As the Tianxuan Mirror's prompts rang out in succession, Li Fan's composure finally cracked.

He had believed his contribution points were more than sufficient for a lifetime. It was becoming clear they were not.

I still can't outplay you, Tianxuan Mirror!

With tentative resolve, Li Fan performed the advanced deduction.

First deduction: fifty thousand contribution points at the discounted rate, eight percent success rate. Failed.

The second deduction's cost surged to one hundred and fifty thousand. The success rate climbed to ten percent. Failed again.

Even though Li Fan's vast stockpile of contribution points had come to him like an unexpected windfall, watching them flicker and vanish before his eyes stung more than he'd expected.

In this process, contribution points seemed to shed their original value, becoming nothing more than fuel to drive the deduction forward.

Had the success rate climbed steadily with each attempt, Li Fan might have gritted his teeth and pushed through to deduce the advanced divine ability.

But the Tianxuan Mirror had more tricks than he'd anticipated.

When the success rate reached fifty percent and he failed again, Li Fan noticed it had stopped increasing.

In its place, a new progress bar appeared.

"Specialized Deduction.

"When the probability of advanced divine ability deduction increases and a failure occurs, that progress contributes toward specialized deduction.

"Once the progress bar is full, you may designate the aspect of improvement for the deduced divine ability. For example: lethality, unpredictability, priority, and so on."

The success probability no longer climbed. The contribution point cost per deduction still rose without fail.

To derive an advanced version of Heaven-Breaking Heart Sword, the contribution points required would reach astronomical figures.
