Chapter 139: Chapter 139: "Remember to Protect Yourselves.
Zachary Conway stared at him, his eyes wide with shock. "Kai, what’s gotten into you?"
Henry Stark’s gaze shifted over as well, his deep, dark eyes narrowing slightly.
Seeing that everyone had gotten the wrong idea, Kyle Morgan quickly explained, "No, don’t get me wrong. I just want to make a good impression. What if Renee Jennings has a friend she could introduce to me..."
"I get it," Levi Hollis nodded. "You can’t stand being lonely anymore."
"You can put it that way." Kyle Morgan scratched his head in embarrassment. "I’m at that age, you know? My family’s started pressuring me."
"We get it. We all get it," Zachary Conway said, feeling a deep sense of camaraderie.
Levi Hollis also sighed dramatically. "Tell me about it."
"Boss, is your family even more anxious?" Kyle Morgan looked at Henry Stark. After all, Henry was five years older than him.
Henry Stark’s expression was cool. "They’re not."
Kyle Morgan asked in surprise, "Boss, how do you manage to avoid the pressure?"
"Don’t tell me the boss already has a girlfriend?" Zachary Conway guessed boldly.
Renee Jennings raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at Henry Stark with curiosity.
Henry Stark met her gaze, looking a bit unnatural. He lowered his eyes slightly and said unhurriedly, "My focus is on my work."
Mary the Sparrow fluttered over to him, her little eyes sizing him up. "This sparrow just realized, this human male is so handsome!"
Jack the Mouse also agreed. "Indeed. This mouse also thinks he’s the coolest one here."
"Renee," Mary the Sparrow turned her head to look at Renee Jennings. "Among you human males, he’s considered very handsome, right?"
Hearing this, Renee Jennings blinked, took a good look at Henry Stark, and nodded. "That’s right."
"What is it saying?" Henry Stark had a feeling the conversation between Renee Jennings and the small animal was about him.
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "They’re saying you’re handsome."
"Is that so." The man’s thin lips curved into a faint smile.
Zachary Conway immediately asked, "Well, did they praise me?"
Renee Jennings pressed her lips together and hesitantly opened her mouth. "Well..."
Zachary Conway quickly cut in, "Alright, alright, I already know the answer."
Renee Jennings lowered her gaze and chuckled.
Henry Stark concealed the smile in his eyes and said slowly, "Alright, let’s get started."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings said to the mice and birds, "Everyone, get ready to move out."
The moment she spoke, the mice and birds were instantly on high alert.
Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway were to drive to the place that served wild game.
Renee Jennings’s plan was to have the mice and birds ride in the car first. When they were close to the destination, the men would stop the car and let the animals out to follow them.
Everyone agreed with the plan.
Renee Jennings turned back to instruct the small animals, "In a bit, when these two big brothers let you out of the car, you get out and follow them. Once you’re there, whoever they talk to, you follow that person. Understand?"
The small animals all nodded in agreement.
"Understood, Renee!"
"This mouse understands!"
"This sparrow understands very well too!"
After seeing the small animals into the car, Renee Jennings said worriedly, "Remember to protect yourselves."
After the car drove off, Renee Jennings returned to the police station to watch the monitors with her other colleagues.
The micro-cameras on the mice and birds were recording Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway in the front seats.
The red dots marking their locations on the map were moving bit by bit.
Renee Jennings’s brow was slightly furrowed. She was actually quite nervous.
She was very worried the mice and birds would get hurt.
About half an hour later, the animals’ location markers stopped on the map, then quickly dispersed.
The cluster of red dots scattered into individual tiny red dots.
Twenty monitors showed different angles.
The car stopped at the entrance of an eco-farm. Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway walked into one of the hot pot restaurants.
It was called a hot pot restaurant, but it actually sold wild game.
After Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway sat down, they pulled over a red-haired staff member and asked, "Got any good stuff today?"
"Have you two eaten here before?" Red asked with a grin.
Kyle Morgan, with his hands in his pockets and one leg crossed over the other, said, "We’ve been. A friend recommended it. Heard that if you’re lucky, you can get some top-shelf stuff?"
Red instantly became more enthusiastic. "That’s right, but the top-shelf stuff is a lot more expensive."
"Money’s not an issue," Zachary Conway said, rubbing his hands together. "The main thing is, is this stuff really the real deal?"
"Of course it is!" Red raised his eyebrows. "Especially for us men. It gives you a real boost... in *that* department!"
Kyle Morgan pointed at him and laughed. "You’re the one who gets us!"
"So, what other exciting things do you have?" Zachary Conway asked in a low voice. "We have a few more buddies who want to try something new."
Kyle Morgan secretly slipped two bills to Red.
Red took the money, stuffed it into his pocket, and smiled even more warmly. "I feel a connection with you two, so I’ll let you in on a secret. You can place special orders here. Whatever you want to eat, as long as you’ve got the cash, we can arrange it."
"You can do that?" Kyle Morgan looked pleasantly surprised. "Should’ve said so earlier!"
"That’s awesome!" Zachary Conway blinked and asked in a low voice, "Do you have Sand Boa?"
Red said mysteriously, "Of course we do. But you’ll have to wait. It’s caught to order, so it’s not that fast."
Kyle Morgan nodded and asked, "Can we inspect the goods?"
Red: "We can show you a video."
Zachary Conway frowned. "What if the goods don’t match the description?"
Red: "Hey, didn’t you say a friend sent you? You still don’t trust us? We do honest business here, we’d never trick our customers. You two can rest assured."
"So how do we order?" Kyle Morgan looked expectant. "Do we pay a deposit first?"
Red nodded. "Right. Depends on what you want. You pay half up front, and the other half upon delivery."
Zachary Conway: "One more question. If we don’t want to eat it right away, can you keep it for us for a bit?"
Red made an "OK" gesture. "Absolutely."
"Alright then, I’ll discuss it with my buddy," Zachary Conway said with a raised eyebrow. "For today, just get us two wild rabbits. One braised, and one for the hot pot."
"You got it!" Red agreed. "Want some appetizers with that?"
Kyle Morgan casually ordered a couple of appetizers and took out his phone to start typing.
Jack the Mouse followed Red into the back kitchen and found Mary the Sparrow standing on the windowsill.
"Little mouse, you’re here." Mary the Sparrow greeted him.
Jack the Mouse: "Sister Mary, the two big brothers were just talking to that red-haired male. This mouse is following him."
Mary the Sparrow nodded. "Okay. This sparrow will find someone to follow too."
The mice and birds split up. Some stayed in the back kitchen to keep watch, while others followed other staff members out a side door from the kitchen.
Red and a man with blond hair walked into the alley behind the kitchen. While smoking, Red said, "There are a couple of rich kids out front. They look pretty clueless. We can probably rip them off big time."
Blondie, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, said, "Nice. I love it when these rich kids with more money than sense come around."
