Chapter 255: You Hit Her So You Can’t Hit Me

Chapter 255: Chapter 255: You Hit Her, So You Can’t Hit Me

The color drained from Vincent Morgan’s face, his eyes filled with disbelief. "How could this be?"

"Life is unpredictable," Zachary Morgan sighed. "It seems the Morgan family and she were just not fated to be."

"She was so young..." Vincent Morgan’s brows knitted together as he murmured, "She never even had a chance to live a good life..."

Zachary Morgan said nothing, but a hint of regret showed on his face.

After a long moment, Vincent Morgan walked out of the study, his expression somber.

"Brother." Seeing him, Yvonne Morgan immediately hurried over, asking worriedly, "What happened? What did Dad say?"

Vincent Morgan opened his mouth, but no words came out. He shook his head. "It’s nothing."

He started down the stairs.

Yvonne Morgan chased after him, asking anxiously, "Brother, how can it be nothing? You clearly look like something’s wrong!"

"I want to be alone for a bit." With his long strides, Vincent Morgan walked straight toward the door.

Yvonne Morgan stared at his back, the concern on her face gradually fading, replaced by a hint of displeasure in her eyes.

She turned, walked upstairs, and knocked gently on Aria Sinclair’s door, her voice soft. "Mom, may I come in?"

A moment later, the door opened from within.

"Yvonne," Aria Sinclair said softly. "What is it?"

Yvonne Morgan keenly noticed that Aria Sinclair’s eyes were a little red, a clear sign she had been crying.

"Mom, I should be the one asking you what’s wrong." She took the woman’s hand and said coaxingly, "Did Dad bully you?"

"No." Aria Sinclair shook her head gently. "It has nothing to do with your father."

Yvonne Morgan was filled with worry. "Then who bullied you? Tell me, Mom, and I’ll make sure you get justice!"

Aria Sinclair looked at her, and her heart was instantly filled with warmth.

"Yvonne." She squeezed Yvonne Morgan’s delicate hand in return, her voice tinged with sorrow. "You’re the only daughter I have left."

Yvonne Morgan’s gaze flickered. She asked in surprise, "Mom, why would you say that? Don’t you still have Renee? I’m still waiting for her to come home so we can both dote on you."

"Yvonne." Aria Sinclair reached out to stroke her hair, her eyes full of pity. "She... she’s not coming back."

A flash of joy went through Yvonne Morgan’s heart, but her eyes reddened. "Why? Is it because of me...?"

"No, it’s not because of you," Aria Sinclair said, her heart aching for her. "Silly child, it has nothing to do with you. She just had bad luck."

Yvonne Morgan bit her lip hard, terrified she would laugh out loud. Feigning concern, she pressed, "Mom, what on earth happened?"

The night was deep. The high, full moon was now shrouded by layers of clouds, revealing only a sliver of a crescent that cast a hazy, cool glow.

Renee Jennings sat in the back garden admiring the moon, a cup of herbal tea in her hand.

A bird suddenly flew over, landing on the stone table and chirping, "Renee, I’m here!"

Seeing it, a hint of joy touched Renee Jennings’s features. "Little Mary, you’ve come to see me."

"Renee, I’ve missed you so much, but I came this time mainly to tattle." Mary then told her about Old Hag Crawford cursing the Jennings family to get into a car accident.

Renee Jennings’s fists clenched abruptly, her simple, pretty face flushing with anger. "What’s wrong with her?!"

"I was so mad I pecked her a few times!" Mary huffed. "That old hag is just the worst!"

’Was there really no way to deal with that old hag?’

’No.’ Renee Jennings couldn’t just let this go.

She changed into a lightweight black tracksuit, put on a black baseball cap, and drove straight to Blissborne Garden.

At home, Old Hag Crawford was picking her feet while watching TV. Hugh Warren opened the door, saw her, and, with a dark expression, walked into the bedroom to grab clothes for a shower.

Seeing this, Old Hag Crawford cursed at him, "Get lost! Don’t block the TV!"

Hugh Warren didn’t say a word, but he glared at her with hatred.

Ever since the incident where she cheated on him, the couple had become like enemies.

BANG BANG BANG— A sudden pounding came from the door.

Old Hag Crawford sniffed her fingers, then asked suspiciously, "Who is it?"

"Delivery."

"Who ordered delivery?" Old Hag Crawford slipped on her slippers and went to open the door. "Didn’t you say you had a delivery? Where is it?"

"I’ll bring it inside for you," said Renee Jennings. She was wearing a face mask and a baseball cap, so the other woman didn’t recognize her.

Old Hag Crawford was the type who loved to take advantage of petty opportunities. Afraid she’d miss out on something good, she quickly ushered the person inside. "Come in, come in! What is it? Hurry up and show me!"

Renee Jennings gently kicked the door shut with her heel. She held out a fist and said with a smirk, "Come a little closer, and I’ll show you."

"Where is it?" Old Hag Crawford leaned in curiously.

Renee Jennings opened her hand and slapped her across the face. "You’ve got a lot of nerve," she said coldly.

Stunned by the sudden slap, Old Hag Crawford clutched her face and stared at her, enraged. "Are you crazy? Why did you hit me?"

"For that foul mouth of yours!" As the words fell, Renee Jennings grabbed her by the collar and slapped her hard twice more. "You just don’t feel right unless you’re getting hit, do you? With a mouth like that?"

Old Hag Crawford’s head was ringing from the blows. Pained and furious, she yelled, "Who the hell are you? Why are you hitting me for no reason?"

Renee Jennings didn’t speak, she just kept slapping her.

Just then, Hugh Warren came out of the bathroom after his shower. He saw the scene and jumped in surprise. "What’s going on?"

"You bastard, what are you standing there gawking for? Hurry up and help me!" Old Hag Crawford cursed.

Hugh Warren had long since grown sick of this wretched wife who had put a green hat on him. He never had the guts to hit her himself, and now that someone was teaching her a lesson, he was too overjoyed to even think of helping.

Renee Jennings lifted her eyes to look at him.

Hugh Warren couldn’t see her face clearly, only a pair of clear, piercing eyes staring at him without a shred of warmth.

For some reason, a chill ran down his spine, and his legs began to tremble.

Old Hag Crawford fumed, "Hurry up!"

Renee Jennings narrowed her eyes slightly. Seeing this, Hugh Warren swallowed hard and said, "If you hit her, then you can’t hit me!"

Hearing this, Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Don’t worry, I won’t hit you."

"You..." Old Hag Crawford was livid and began to curse loudly, "You bastard, are you even human? You’re just going to stand there and watch me get beaten?"

Hearing that he wouldn’t be hit, Hugh Warren finally breathed a sigh of relief. He patted his chest and said, "Don’t worry, I didn’t see a thing."

With that, he slipped into the room and locked the door.

"Hugh Warren, you fucking aren’t a man!" Old Hag Crawford started wailing, cursing out eighteen generations of Hugh Warren’s ancestors.

Not wanting to dirty her own ears, Renee Jennings finished roughing her up and left.

Downstairs, she dusted off her hands, feeling truly satisfied.

Mary had witnessed the entire thing and now chattered excitedly, "Renee, that was a great beating!"

"It’s all thanks to you for telling me." Renee Jennings held out her hand, and Mary landed in her palm.

Her car was parked outside the residential complex. As she walked toward the entrance with Mary perched on her hand, she saw Inky flying toward her. "Renee!"

"Inky!" Renee Jennings said in pleasant surprise. "Why didn’t you come find me over at Eastgate?"

Inky cried out anxiously, "Renee, there are bad guys!"
