The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 590: Are You Her Affair Partner?

Chapter 590: Chapter 590: Are You Her Affair Partner?

"I’ll definitely go," Veronica Young urged with a smile. "Come on, let’s toast. Cheers!"

"Cheers!" Nancy Yules took a few sips of her coconut milk before going back to her crab.

Fanny watched for a moment longer before flying back out through the service balcony window.

"Fanny, what took you so long? I was worried you’d been caught by the bad humans!" Coco chirped excitedly.

Fanny replied, "It’s fine. It’s not dangerous in there."

"What did you see?" Coco asked. "Let’s go. We’ll fly down and tell Renee."

Flapping their wings, the four little birds dove down in one swift motion.

"Renee!"

"We’re back!"

"..."

Coco was the first to fold its wings and land on the edge of the windowsill. The other three birds followed in an orderly fashion, tucking in their wings and lining up beside it.

"Is that a cuckoo?" Renee Jennings’s gaze fell on the other small bird.

"Hello," the cuckoo greeted politely. "I’m a cuckoo. Could you give me a name?"

Coco explained, "Renee, Azalea wants a pretty name like the rest of us."

"Then... how about Felicity?" Renee Jennings asked with a smile.

"Felicity..." the cuckoo murmured, its beady eyes instantly brightening. "It’s beautiful! I love this name!"

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "I’m glad you like it."

"Thank you," Azalea said politely.

"You’re welcome." Renee Jennings chuckled, then got down to business. "By the way, did you see anything just now?"

Coco spread one wing, as if pointing to Fanny. "Fanny was the one who went to check."

"Alright." Renee Jennings’s gentle gaze fell on Fanny. "Fanny, go ahead and tell me."

Fanny recounted in detail what she had seen on the ninth floor.

"Excellent work." Renee Jennings gave her little bird detectives a thumbs-up, then turned to look at the front seats. "Veronica Young and Emil Redmond have already drugged the girl’s drink."

After a moment of thought, Henry Stark glanced at his watch and turned to Kyle Morgan. "You go up and check it out."

"Got it." Kyle Morgan put on a baseball cap and got out of the car.

They had already asked the landlord which rooms faced the street.

Kyle Morgan took the elevator to the ninth floor. After stepping out, he walked straight to the door of Apartment 903 and rang the doorbell.

The sound of the doorbell startled Veronica Young. She instinctively turned to Emil Redmond, a questioning look in her eyes. "Did... did you order takeout again?"

"N-No, I didn’t," Emil Redmond stammered, also flustered.

’He’d set the meeting with his second-biggest donor for eleven, but it’s only a little after nine right now!’

"Go see who it is!" Veronica Young ordered with a frown.

"Okay." Emil Redmond scrambled to his feet and hurried to the door. "Who is it?"

He opened the door and saw Kyle Morgan wearing a face mask. "Who... are you looking for?" he asked suspiciously.

"I’m looking for Betty," Kyle Morgan said, then angrily pushed his way inside. "Betty, get out here!" he yelled as he walked in.

He casually tossed a miniature listening device into one of the takeout bags.

Hearing he wasn’t looking for Joy, Emil Redmond breathed a sigh of relief. He rushed in after him. "Hey man, you’ve got the wrong place. There’s no one named Betty here."

"Impossible!" Kyle Morgan snapped. "Her best friend told me she was here! Are you the one she’s cheating with?"

He grabbed Emil Redmond by the collar.

"What do you think you’re doing!" Veronica Young shot up and tried to push Kyle Morgan away. "Are you insane? He’s my boyfriend!"

"Where did you hide Betty?" Kyle Morgan released Emil Redmond and fixed his gaze on Nancy Yules.

"I-I don’t know her." Nancy Yules’s face went pale with fright as she shook her head vigorously. "It’s just the three of us here. There’s no one else."

"Are you sure there’s no one else?" Kyle Morgan pressed, not ready to give up.

"Get the hell out of here, now!" Veronica Young snatched a pair of scissors and pointed them at him.

Kyle Morgan jumped in alarm and quickly raised his hands. "Whoa, miss, take it easy. I’m leaving."

"Get out!" Emil Redmond shoved him out the door.

The door to 903 slammed shut from the inside with a BANG. Kyle Morgan turned back, scowled, and yelled, "Betty, you cheating liar, get out here!"

After closing the door, Emil Redmond heard the yelling from outside and sneered. "So, his girlfriend cheated on him. Poor guy."

Veronica Young cursed under her breath, "Fucking psycho."

’That scared the hell out of me. I thought the number-two donor was already here!’

At that thought, Veronica Young turned to Nancy Yules with a look of concern. "Nina, you’re pale with fright. Here, drink some coconut milk to calm down."

Nancy Yules obediently drank her coconut milk. ’Actually,’ she thought, ’you pointing those scissors at him was pretty scary too.’

"Are you about done eating?" Wanting to be prepared in case her donor arrived early, Veronica Young said, "Let’s start on our makeup!"

"Okay." Nancy Yules quickly put down her coconut milk and crab and got up to wash her hands.

When she came back from washing her hands, Veronica Young pushed the coconut milk back into her hands. "Finish this. Don’t let it go to waste."

"Good point." Nancy Yules took it with a smile and drank the rest in one go.

Seeing this, Veronica Young and Emil Redmond exchanged a satisfied smile.

Back in the car, Kyle Morgan removed the button-sized camera from his shirt, connected it to his phone, and exported the footage he had just recorded.

"Veronica Young and Emil Redmond’s target is that girl," he said, sending the video to Henry Stark and Renee Jennings.

"That girl seems so sweet," Renee Jennings said softly.

"Yeah," Kyle Morgan said, looking back at her. "She seems pretty naive. Even when Veronica Young was pointing scissors at me, she was just sitting there holding a crab."

Just then, Renee Jennings heard Patty’s chirps.

"Renee, the bad human is starting to put makeup on her friend."

"Okay, I know," she nodded. "Henry, Veronica Young is doing her friend’s makeup now."

Henry Stark considered this. "Alright. We’ll wait a little longer."

In a cozy and clean living room, Sharon Willows looked cautiously at the two people before her. "Officers," she asked, her voice uneasy, "has something happened?"

"Do you know a Veronica Young?" Sawyer asked.

"I do. She’s my current husband’s daughter." Sharon Willows nodded, her expression growing tense. "Did something happen to Joy?"

Sawyer pursed his lips, a hint of sympathy in his eyes. "Ms. Willow, a little while ago, did Veronica Young ask you to deliver a meal to Starlight Apartments?"

"Yes." Sharon Willows nodded again. "It was just last Sunday. She said a brand sponsor had her go to Starlight Apartments, and she asked me to cook a homemade meal and bring it to her."

"Has that ever happened before?" Zachary Conway asked.

"No." Sharon Willows shook her head and explained, "To be honest, I don’t think she likes me very much. Usually, when I text and ask her to come home for dinner, she pretends she never saw the message. She only comes back when her father tells her to."

Hearing this, Sawyer followed up, "So didn’t you think it was strange that she asked you to deliver a meal to her then?"

"I did." Sharon Willows tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I mentioned it to her father, but he just thought our daughter was suddenly growing up and trying to get on better terms with me."
