The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 716: Your New Owner

Chapter 716: Chapter 716: Your New Owner

Luna York studied Rory Yves, her expression unruffled. "How exactly did he pressure you? Describe it in detail."

"He... he just suddenly took that thing out..." Rory Yves blinked repeatedly. She pursed her lips before continuing, "He asked me if I knew what it was..."

Luna York stared intently at her, taking in every flicker of emotion. "And then?"

Rory Yves raised a hand to rub her nose, her gaze shifty. "I... I didn’t look closely at first. He told me to open it, so I did, and only then did I realize it was a condom..."

"Are you finished?" Luna York asked.

Rory Yves nodded. "I’m finished."

Luna York smiled. "Do you know the signs of a person who’s lying?"

Rory Yves’s pupils widened slightly. She frowned. "Officer, what are you trying to say? I don’t understand."

"While you were speaking just now, you couldn’t keep your gaze steady. You were blinking frequently, pursing your lips, touching your nose..." Luna York said softly. "These are all unconscious reactions you have when you’re lying."

"I’m not lying!" Rory Yves denied heatedly.

Luna York’s tone turned serious. "Rory Yves, let’s have it. Why did you falsely accuse Clarence Sawyer?"

Rory Yves insisted, "I did not falsely accuse him!"

"Is that so?" Luna York asked. "Then did you or did you not say inappropriate things to him during class?"

Rory Yves stared at her, her hands clenched into tight fists. In a deceptively innocent tone, she asked, "What did I say? Officer, you’re in law enforcement. You should know that you need evidence to make a claim. Do you have any proof of what I supposedly said?"

"And how would you know we don’t have evidence?" Luna York smiled faintly. "If we hadn’t already gathered sufficient evidence, you wouldn’t be sitting here right now."

Rory Yves’s eyes widened, though she tried to feign calmness. "What evidence did you find? What can it prove?"

"The evidence proves that Clarence Sawyer never molested you," Luna York said unhurriedly. "It proves that you have been sexually harassing him this whole time, and it also proves that you’ve been maliciously framing him."

Rory Yves swallowed nervously. "Impossible! He’s the one who harassed me! Don’t you dare accuse me! I never harassed him! If you have the guts, then show me the proof!"

"It’s evidence, so of course we’re not going to show it to you," Luna York said with a light smile. "It will be handed over directly to the prosecutor’s office."

Winnie Wynn also spoke up, her tone serious and grave. "We are questioning you now to give you a chance to confess voluntarily. You’d better think it over carefully. This is your last chance."

Luna York enunciated each word clearly, "Miss this chance today, and what awaits you is the just punishment of the law. You’re an adult. The law won’t go easy on you just because you’re a student."

After a long, tormented hesitation, Rory Yves’s voice grew heavy. "So... if I confess... will I be fine?"

"Leniency for confession is a legal principle. It can lead to a reduced or lighter sentence according to the law, but it does not grant immunity."

Rory Yves was silent for a moment before she choked out, "I admit it. I bought the condoms. Clarence Sawyer never touched me."

Hearing her words, Luna York quietly let out a sigh of relief.

Her gamble had paid off.

"Why did you falsely accuse Clarence Sawyer?" she asked.

Rory Yves frowned deeply, her tone scornful. "He was putting on such an act! I was so forward with him, and he still acted all high-and-mighty, like he’s immune to women!"

Luna York: "..."

Winnie Wynn: "..."

Rory Yves continued, "A young, beautiful girl from a wealthy family like me, actively pursuing a guy from a poor background like him... he should have cherished the opportunity. But he was so pretentious, he even called me shameless..."

After hearing her out, Luna York summarized, "So, you falsely accused him of molesting you to get revenge?"

"Officer, you’re using the wrong word!" Rory Yves corrected her with great seriousness. "I wasn’t getting revenge. I was punishing him!"

Luna York: "..."

’What a shame,’ she thought. ’Not only would Rory Yves’s actions fail to punish Clarence Sawyer, but she would also have to pay the price for her own irrational behavior and face the full penalty of the law!’

The broth in the small hot pot was bubbling away. Renee Jennings swished a slice of beef in the soup, catching sight of the small cage nearby out of the corner of her eye.

She turned to look at it, then her gaze swept over Carmen Lane and her colleagues. "Have any of you ever thought about getting a pet?"

At her words, everyone looked at each other.

"I feel like I can barely take care of myself," Carmen Lane said. "I wouldn’t dare even think about getting a pet."

Shawn Cheney said softly, "I wouldn’t dare either. My partner is afraid of furry pets."

"Are you trying to find a home for these two sugar gliders?" Luna York asked.

"Yes." Renee Jennings nodded and explained, "They provided crucial information. I’m afraid they’ll face retaliation if they stay with the Yves Family."

Carmen Lane gave her a thumbs-up. "That’s very thoughtful of you."

Luna York stared at the two adorable sugar gliders in the small cage and hesitated. "How about... I adopt them? I just don’t know if they’d be willing."

"Let me ask them." Renee Jennings stood up, walked over to the small cage, and said softly, "Six, Number Three, I’ve found a new owner for you."

"CHIRP? Aren’t you going to be our new owner?"

"COO? We thought you were our new owner!"

"I’m sorry, I’m not from Jaelara..." Renee Jennings explained her reasons for not being able to keep them.

After listening, Six and Number Three nodded in understanding.

"CHIRP... That’s a real shame."

"COO? So where is the new owner?"

Renee Jennings turned and waved. "Luna York, come over here."

Luna York, who had already been craning her neck to watch, immediately stood up and walked over when Renee called her.

"Six, Number Three," Renee Jennings introduced, "This is Luna. She wants to be your new owner and will live with you from now on."

Six and Number Three stared curiously at Luna York with their glassy black eyes.

Renee Jennings asked softly, "Are you willing?"

The two sugar gliders immediately started nodding vigorously.

"CHIRP! We are!"

"COO! We are!"

Oh, they were so willing.

Seeing them agree, Renee Jennings also breathed a small sigh of relief. "That’s wonderful."

Luna York asked expectantly, "Consultant Jennings, does that mean they agreed?"

"Yes." Renee Jennings gave her a charming smile. "They like you a lot."

The corners of Luna York’s lips curved up. "That’s good. I like them a lot, too!"

"Then it’s perfect." Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "It’s a two-way street."

Luna York hesitated for a few seconds before voicing her idea. "Consultant Jennings, could you help me ask the sugar gliders if they’d like new names?"

’To be honest, she didn’t think Six and Number Three were very good names. She had a feeling that Rory Yves had some malicious intent when she named them.’

"Okay, I’ll ask." Renee Jennings gave it a try and, to her surprise, both Six and Number Three were more than happy to get new names.
