Book 4, Chapter 84: Ambush
Percival acted like he was explaining his actions, but the provocation was obvious.
“If you’re done and have nothing else to say, please stop following us. Mr. Haverford, I’ve already warned you. If you continue following me, you will have to face the consequences,” Chen Chuan stated coolly.
When Percival saw that Chen Chuan was about to return to the car, he took two steps forward and shrugged. “One second. I’m only here as a martial artist. If you’re a true martial artist, I’m sure you can understand my urgency.”
That did make Chen Chuan stop, but he only said, “I’m sorry. As a martial artist, I’m not against sparring with other martial artists, but there’s a time and place for that. First of all, I don’t like how rude you are. Second, you’re not strong enough or have a high enough status to spar against me.”
He turned back and walked to his limousine.
Percival wanted to say something more, but after he took another step forward, the armed combatants of the motorcade trained their guns on him. Judging by their looks, they didn’t care that he was a diplomat. If he took another step forward, they were going to shoot.
“Fine. Okay.”
Percival raised his hands. Even though he did this, he was relaxed, because he wasn’t afraid of the guns. The only reason he backed down was because he was in their territory. Even if he defeated these people, he wouldn’t be able to deal with the endless stream of armed combatants that was bound to come.
After taking a few steps back, he saw that Chen Chuan was about to get into his limousine, and he shouted, “Lead Investigator Chen, I can give you some information that you and the Resolution Department will find satisfactory! I’d like to establish good ties! Perhaps this can convince you to change your mind.”
With that said, he took out an envelope from his breast pocket and shook it a little before throwing it to Chen Chuan.
Once he motioned at the two officers beside him not to shoot, Chen Chuan caught the envelope and touched it. There wasn’t any document inside, only some pictures. He pulled out a corner of one of the pictures to check before stuffing it back in. Then, he got back into the limousine.
As for Percival’s request? He never agreed to anything. Percival was the one who wanted to give him the pictures.
Percival could only regretfully watch the motorcade leave. Then, he returned to his car and said into a custom-made Realm Pass, “Mountain Goat lost his Yellow Goat.”

A middle-aged man inside the Linacrox Union’s temporary diplomatic base was talking to Percival using a secret frequency.
The Linacrox Union wanted the artifact, and they were prepared to enter the merged space. Earlier, they had been having friendly matches with some of the strong martial artists affiliated with the government of Jibei Road’s Central City to figure out their strength.
Chen Chuan was far down the list of names of the people they had to test, because no matter how they looked, he was part of the senior leadership and was unlikely to go to the merged space like the other front liners. The chance to fight him in a friendly match among the universities was a rare one, though, so they didn’t want to let it slide.
However, it seemed like they weren’t going to succeed.
They weren’t going to stop just because they failed once, though. “Got it. Please look for another chance, Mountain Eagle.”
“Mountain Eagle is tired and just wants a drink today.”
“Did Mountain Eagle fly too far yesterday?” the middle-aged man teased him.
“Hey, don’t look down on Mountain Eagle. He can fly for an entire day, easy.”

While talking, Percival saw something from the corner of his eyes. A person ran past his car so quickly that when Percival first saw him, he had been hundreds of meters away, but in an instant, he arrived next to his car and kicked his car door.
Percival’s eyes went wide open.
Boom!
He was in an armored car, but the center of his car door caved in.
He reacted quickly and flipped backward to jump out of an open window.
Even though it was only a narrow gap, he managed to get out. The car was shoved forward right after. The tires let out an ear-splitting screech against the road, which made him freeze and his legs remain in the car, even though he should have already made it out.
At that moment, the attacker pushed down against the deformed car roof. The windows were flattened, and the top pressed against the bottom, causing Percival’s calves to be trapped.
Upon realizing that things were going badly, Percival twisted to push up the car window trapping his legs. If he had just a bit of time, he would make it out, but at that moment, the attacker used the motion of pressing against the car roof to jump over like a charging leopard and punch at Percival’s head.
His fist tore through the air, leaving a visible distortion in its wake. Percival’s expression changed. He crossed his arms and shielded himself.
The fist landed on his arms and broke them before continuing to crash into his face. It didn’t seem to have spent a lot of energy to pass through his arms.
Boom!
Half of Percival’s face was distorted, and his brain stuck to the fist like soft noodles. His shattered teeth flew out, along with blood and saliva.
But that wasn’t the end of the attack. While covered in brain tissue, the fist continued forward. A series of creaking sounds followed, and Percival’s entire body was torn apart like a steel bar that had been twisted.
His bones, muscles, tendons, and blood vessels were all ripped to shreds. When the fist finally stopped, Percival hung off it like an elongated noodle. No one could see the original shape of his deformed brain, and his long tongue drooped down on the ground.
Due to the great vitality of Third Limit martial artists, Percival was still breathing and glaring at his attacker, even though his eyeballs had almost fallen out of their sockets. It was as if he was trying to commit his attacker’s face to memory.
His attacker was still standing on the car roof. He pulled his fist back and looked down at him. The afternoon sun was strong, but Percival could see his strong body and the muscles containing explosive strength. At that moment, his attacker straightened up and turned toward Chen Chuan’s motorcade.
Chen Chuan was sitting in the back seat. He had noticed the attack the moment it happened and seen the entire fight. While he felt nothing toward Percival’s death, he had spoken to the diplomat a moment ago, so he couldn’t just ignore it.
Besides, with the strength and fearlessness on display before him, Chen Chuan couldn’t just leave.
The motorcade was already a distance away by then, but it stopped again. Everyone got into their positions and trained their guns at the attacker.
Chen Chuan got out of his limousine and enjoyed the wind blowing in the spacious clearing before adjusting his hat. Then, he ordered everyone to stay in place and walked forward.
His security team watched his back with their guns aimed at the person on the car roof.
When the person moved, he appeared less than fifty meters away from the security team, who was extremely shocked.
The attacker was a young man with broad shoulders, a thin waist, and shoulder-length hair. He wore a sleeveless martial arts uniform, and the thin but sturdy material fitted his body perfectly. A few locks of hair hung over his angled eyebrows and extremely aggressive gaze.
As Chen Chuan stared at the face, he found it incredibly similar to the picture drawn by the artist. He hadn’t expected Qi Qianyang to show up the moment he gave him the chance.
Upon seeing the young man’s face, Chen Chuan noticed that the artist had managed to capture his demeanor perfectly, so he was going to request for the artist to get a raise after going back.
Qi Qianyang was taller than Chen Chuan, and his broad shoulders as well as sturdy shoulder and back muscles gave him an intimidating aura while just standing there.
He looked at Chen Chuan. “I was wondering how to find you, but it looks like you were doing the same. That’s why I came here. But it seems that showing up like this isn’t too polite.”
He then pointed behind him. “So, I issued you a letter of challenge. I hope you like it.”
“I’d love it even more if you could issue a few more of them,” Chen Chuan shot back.
That caught Qi Qianyang off guard, but he started laughing a moment later.
At that moment, buzzing sounds came from a distance. A group of bioweapons were flying over. City Patrol was also swiftly gathering in the area.
While they were in Roaring Victory District, they weren’t far from Deep End District. Once Safe Shield detected that Chen Chuan was in danger, it mobilized the armed forces in the perimeter to provide reinforcements. A patrolling airship also flew over from Deep End District.
Qi Qianyang pointed at Chen Chuan. “I came here to say hi, but you’re not the one who decides where we fight.”
Light shot out of his eyes, and an invisible mental energy spread out. In an instant, the bioweapons fell on the ground like rain, and the armed combatants behind Chen Chuan fainted on top of their cars.
At the same time, a large, blueish black bird flew over from another building. It stopped above Qi Qianyang, and a long rope dropped down from its belt.
Qi Qianyang jumped over and grabbed the rope. The bird flew up, and in an instant, he was high up in the sky. “See you again.”
