One of the two politicians in charge of the Crisis Management Center was sitting, while the other was standing. Both of them were in the municipal government’s building in front of a wide glass wall. There was practically no light in the room, but a large screen was getting turned on.

“We’ve already sent men to capture them. The Union sent word that Lead Investigator Chen is very strong, and we are to approach this with caution. But it’s fine. We’ve sent an airship fleet, and the bioweapons are on their way too. Besides, it’s better for us to cause a commotion. The more noise, the harder it will be to wrap it up.”

The politician sitting down had a glass filled with red wine in his hand. In the reflection on his glass, he could see the screen getting clearer. He spun it a bit. “We need to make sure that all the main districts in Central City see this.”

All the news media outlets under the municipal government were already reporting that Chen Chuan’s group had come back with something corrupting them. The parasites were harmless to them, but if they were allowed to move around freely, it was highly likely that they could bring great harm to everyone in Central City.

If the Department of Administrative Affairs wanted to launch any operation, they would first send the Resolution Department. Originally, the municipal government only wanted to create some chaos within the Resolution Department to get a reaction and have some time to set up their plan, but now, they got an unexpected but entirely welcome surprise.

If they made good use of it, not only could they avert this current crisis, but they could also launch a counterattack. The best outcome would be forcing the Department of Administrative Affairs to negotiate with them. This, of course, would require the Union’s support.

The municipal government had said that they weren’t to act right away. They needed more eyes on this matter. Not all of the domains had come to follow the happenings in the square.

Chen Chuan ignored the voice from above and turned to the people behind him. “Captain Lu, could you bring that box over? Be gentle, please.”

Captain Lu nodded. He went back to the car with another teammate and brought out a large box in front of them. The box was covered by a black cloth with gold on the sides and woven Consolation Blooms. The white petals stood out starkly against the black cloth.

“Do you know what this is, Han Fu?” Chen Chuan asked. He went to the box and flipped over the photo frame turned face down on the box. Then, he positioned it properly and adjusted it. It was Lead Investigator Wen’s photo, and Chen Chuan made sure his eyes were fixed on Han Fu.

Han Fu’s gaze changed.

“These are Lead Investigator Wen’s remains. I brought them back from the merged space. He’s now going to see what I’m going to do to you this time,” Chen Chuan declared.

A bad feeling rose in Han Fu’s heart, but he suppressed it. He looked around him, then above at the airships before turning back and saying loudly, “You’re still putting on airs, Lead Investigator Chen? I have nothing to do with Lead Investigator Wen’s death. You’re just slandering me so that you can become the director. You got Lead Investigator Wen killed and arrested me to get rid of your competitors, but you can’t keep this hidden. There are witnesses who saw what you did.”

“There are indeed people who saw what I did, and now even more people will see it,” Chen Chuan said and turned to Xu Chan.

“Captain Xu, everyone, please step back a bit.”
