Roadmap to the Boundless Sky

Book 4 Chapter 202: Crossing The Sea To Another Island

Book 4, Chapter 202: Crossing The Sea To Another Island

In the afternoon, Fenghe Shou escorted Chen Chuan to his tour boat, and Chen Chuan returned to the island in Peaceful Hero Archipelago.

He could feel that he had gained a lot from this trip, and the benefits the Frost King Saber got were just extra. His main benefit was still sparring and talking to a martial arts master. Not only had he gained a deeper understanding of how to use his strength in the Fourth Limit, but his resonance with his second self had also increased.

Of course, Fenghe Shou didn’t do this without a reason. He was clearly trying to form a good relationship with Chen Chuan.

The Great Shun Republic needed Fierce Wave School to appease the islanders around them, and after the school became its subject, it became a wall to keep the Linacrox Union out.

In the past, things were fine because Fierce Wave School didn’t have a stance, but now, they did, and if the Linacrox Union wanted to expand its sphere of influence among the island nations, Fierce Wave School wouldn’t be able to just ignore it. It was only a matter of time before the two fought.

Fenghe Shou was never part of the Great Shun Republic, so he didn’t have any connections in the country. If he was ever in trouble, he would only have a few people he could turn to for help. That’s why he formed a connection with Chen Chuan. Even if they were just acquaintances, he hoped that Chen Chuan would help him at a crucial moment.

When Chen Chuan returned to Peaceful Hero Archipelago, it was already night. This was a tourist spot, and it was the holiday season, so Chen Chuan had no intention of leaving right away. He wanted to spend a few days admiring the scenery, enjoying the food, and nurturing his saber.

After he came back, Border Fusion could also continue with their negotiations. Upon learning that Chen Chuan intended to stay for a few days, Meng Shu hired a tour guide to bring him around.

He stayed for two days and bought a lot of local specialties and souvenirs for his friends and family.

On the third day, he went to the island’s famous White Beach. He sat on a sun lounger and admired the blue sea in the distance with the Frost King Saber beside him, and the red scarf tied around the hilt. It fluttered about in the sea breeze.

Some time later, a man in sunglasses approached him. He was the person from Ocean Development Corporation in charge of communicating with Chen Chuan over the past few days. When he came close, he didn’t say anything and simply waited.

“How can I help you?” Chen Chuan asked.

“Sorry for interrupting your holiday, but we received an emergency telegram. We need your help in dealing with a certain situation.”

“Since you came to me, it must mean that there aren’t many who can settle whatever emergency you have. Go on. Tell me,” Chen Chuan urged him.

The liaison officer apologized to him again and said, “Aside from negotiating with Fierce Wave School’s Fenghe Shou, we also sent someone to Serene Radiance School to convince Xiaoyue Zhai to join us. After all, Serene Radiance School never had any direct conflict with us before.

“But he said no to our offer and accepted the Linacrox Union’s offer instead.

“After that, one of Serene Radiance School’s disciples killed our negotiator. Our investigation into it has led us to believe that it was done under the Linacrox Union’s orders.

“Xiaoyue Zhai didn’t give any answers or explanations.

“Because of this, we’ve come to the conclusion that Serene Radiance School harbors great hostility toward us, and we can’t just ignore it. The company submitted a request to the government that instead of waiting for Serene Radiance School to fight against us after they get support from the Linacrox Union, it’d be better to get rid of them now.

“We’ve already sent two martial arts masters to handle the matter, but one of them had a sudden emergency and will likely need a few days to arrive. Those few days might be enough time for the Linacrox Union to realize what is going on, and more problems might appear.

“That’s why we decided to ask you for help. If you have time, we hope that you can head there and join the other martial arts masters to deal with this matter.”

The liaison officer bowed and said sincerely, “Of course, Ocean Development Corporation will give you an appropriate reward and compensate you for all the risks and losses you face.”

Serene Radiance School, huh?

Chen Chuan had learned about them from Fenghe Shou. They could join either side or attempt to remain independent, but having a disciple kill the negotiator was abnormal.

Even if Serene Radiance School chose to join the Linacrox Union, there was no need for them to offend the Great Shun Republic in such a hurry.

It was like someone had forced them to do this.

Was there something wrong with the disciple?

It was possible the disciple was a mole planted by the Linacrox Union, but not necessarily...

Even after some time passed, Chen Chuan didn’t say anything, so the liaison officer didn’t know what he was thinking. If Chen Chuan refused to do it, they couldn’t do anything about it.

Martial arts masters were highly independent. If they didn’t want to do something, no one could force them. Besides, Chen Chuan hadn’t come here for this. The government hadn’t given him a clear order either, so if Chen Chuan said no, they could say nothing to it.

After some thinking, the liaison officer said, “Mr. Chen, we know that we’re overstepping your boundaries for this, but it is a special situation. If you’re willing to do this, we’ll make sure to reward you with something that’ll satisfy you.”

“When are we supposed to leave?” Chen Chuan asked.

“The airship is ready, and you can leave whenever,” the liaison officer replied.

Chen Chuan grabbed the drink beside him and finished it before putting it down and standing up. As he stared at the waves on the wide sea ahead, he said, “Since I’m already here, I might as well go.”

Since things had progressed this far already, he had a feeling that if he didn’t deal with this now, the problem would come back to him in the future. Besides, he wasn’t against the idea of fighting against other martial arts masters.

The liaison officer was delighted and bowed. “Thank you, Mr. Chen. We’ll provide you with everything you need for your trip, and we’ll remember your help.”

Chen Chuan cast a glance at his second self. The fight with Fenghe Shou had helped his second self grow significantly. This was much better than him training on his own.

Over the past few days, he had also sensed that after the fight, his transformation had quickened.

Usually, martial arts masters didn’t dare to fight against other people while they were transforming, because they were worried about using up their energy and not being able to finish their transformation smoothly. But Chen Chuan could replenish his energy without any problems, so he had no concerns about it.

He hadn’t experienced any changes when he fought against Wei Guochan and Long Xiang, which was likely because they weren’t as strong as Fenghe Shou, so they couldn’t give him enough pressure.

The possible benefits made Chen Chuan look forward to fighting against more strong opponents.

He left the beach and went back to get prepared. He then gave Meng Shu a heads-up. Half an hour later, he boarded the airship headed to Serene Radiance School.

The school was located on Hollow Mountain Island, which had an active volcano and was surrounded by white rocks resembling hillocks. The rocks were so bright that those passing by couldn’t look at them directly, and they were considered a maritime spectacle. In the old era, anyone who went there needed a guide to lead them. Now, they could get to the island via airship.

It only took two days to get to Hollow Mountain Island from Peaceful Hero Archipelago. Chen Chuan didn’t do anything over this period of time. Aside from nourishing his saber, he just ate to prepare for the upcoming fight.

While both he and Fenghe Shou seemed to have used a lot of energy during their fight, it was still a spar. Fenghe Shou had already finished negotiating his school’s status with the Great Shun Republic, so neither he nor Chen Chuan harbored any killing intent toward each other and stopped once the victor was obvious.

The liaison officer had said to wipe out Serene Radiance School, which meant that this was going to be a fight to the death. It was a completely different thing, and Chen Chuan needed to treat it seriously.

Two days later, as the first rays of the sun shone on the sea from the east, the airship approached Hollow Mountain Island.

Chen Chuan was standing on the observation deck. When he looked over, he saw the large white rocks jutting out of the sea. From where he stood, the white rocks looked like they were about the same height, and he felt like there was something particular about their locations, which meant that they weren’t natural. Someone had moved them there and set them up in a certain formation.

He took a few steps forward and noticed that if the rocks were connected together, they would form a ritual.

Master Hongfa was a Zen monk, so Chen Chuan wouldn’t be surprised if he knew some rituals. Mysticism had also experienced a revival eight hundred years ago. As the believers of the two religions fought, many Zen monks traveled east not just to spread their teachings, but also to avoid being wiped out. Perhaps it was because of this that someone had decided to do this.

The liaison officer walked over and looked into the distance before saying, “Mr. Chen, Hollow Mountain Island’s terrain is rather unique, so we won’t be able to go any further. The trajectory of the warships’ artillery guns is also obstructed by those white rocks, so it’s hard for us to blast the island with artillery shells.”

Chen Chuan nodded. The rocks were like hillocks, so destroying them was going to require some effort. It was no wonder why Serene Radiance School was so confident. By occupying such a place, they didn’t need to worry about any regular army invading them.

The airship descended toward two Eternal Guard-class warships as well as one large dock landing ship that could hold two airships. The other martial arts master should have already arrived.

The liaison officer seemed to have received news, for he stepped away after an apology. A while later, he ran back and said, “Mr. Chen, I just got news that Mr. Hu went to the island ahead of you.”

Chen Chuan was quite surprised. This Mr. Hu should be the martial arts master. Was he that confident that he went onto the island without waiting for backup?

The liaison officer looked resigned. “That’s how Mr. Hu is. He’s rather reckless.”

Chen Chuan understood it then. This should be due to an oath sworn to reach the Fourth Limit. While it meant that Mr. Hu was prone to running into trouble, extreme choices resulted in greater power.

Still, Chen Chuan didn’t think that this was a good oath. They were at Serene Radiance School’s base, and if there was a ritual outside the island, there might be one on the island too.

“If that’s the case, there’s no need for us to dock on the ship. Fly a little forward. I’ll jump down from there,” Chen Chuan said as he looked ahead.
