Book 4, Chapter 211: A Storm Gathers In The Distance
It was late November, and Chen Chuan was moving slowly on the stone platform from one stance into another. They were all different but connected.
Every stance of the Blinding Blaze was made of multiple styles and moves, so he needed to practice them individually first before connecting them all together. This part of the training burned quite a lot of energy and put a lot of burden on his body, so he needed to take more nutrients and medicines to replenish the lost energy.
Ocean Development Corporation had given him a lot of resources, so he could simply focus on training.
Faint light shone from his body, but it wasn’t spirit flames. Instead, it was his mental energy spilling out while he used the Blinding Blaze. He was also using the Furnace of Heaven and Earth, which led to him releasing a lot of heat and creating this phenomenon. Once he started approaching mastery, his body would shine like the sun.
A moment later, he slowly moved out of the stance. The light spilling out of him also faded away.
He had already picked up the basics of the first stance, but the keyword was the basics. He could continue practicing it and become much more skilled with it.
However, his body was still transforming. If he dived deeper into the Blinding Blaze, he could speed up the process. Chen Chuan had a feeling that his transformation would finish by the end of the year, which was a little over a month away. After that, he could begin practicing the Fist of the Vast Sky.
He could also sense that if he took the medicines on the list, he could improve much faster. Some of the harder parts would become easier to master due to them.
Based on the records he had, mixing certain merged space creatures’ mutated tissue and other parts containing high nutrients into medicine would make him improve faster.
However, the required mutated tissue mostly grew in medium-sized and mega creatures found deep in the merged space, and a few other relatively dangerous creatures. Usually, no one aside from martial arts masters could take them down alone. Even if large groups could somehow get the mutated tissue, they were considered tactical resources and were difficult to come by.
Chen Chuan would need to grab the mutated tissue himself, so he should go to the merged space at some point. It would reduce his training time, and he would be able to master the secret techniques faster.
The purity faction and the government should have channels to procure the mutated tissue, but he would have to thank his lucky stars if they would give him even a bit. It was impossible for them to supply him with the mutated tissue long-term. After all, resources were limited, and they had to take care of more than one martial arts master. He had to think of other ways to get the resources from Jibei Road’s merged space.
The imperial army stationed in their section of the merged space had been defeated, so it should be easier to get resources from there.
Chen Chuan cast a glance at the sky.
A few days ago, he had received a telegram from Jibei Road telling him that the gap in the World Ring had been closed. This meant that many of the officers and soldiers stationed at the World Ring were coming back, which strengthened the government’s position.
This didn’t mean that the political tension in Jibei Road would ease, because the municipal government was bound to think of ways to draw in more external forces to save their skin. Conflicts were bound to erupt in the future until one side won.
Chen Chuan could tell that something was moving in the shadows over the past few months, though the effects still couldn’t be felt.
Pure essence had spread through all corners of the world for months, and many people as well as organizations should have obtained it. This meant that plenty of people who didn’t have a path forward in the past had found a road forward, so changes should be brewing in many corners of the world. This was likely what Chen Bitong wanted to see.
When Chen Chuan thought back on it, he became even more certain that there was no way Chen Bitong could have done this on his own. By the looks of it, he had made use of some organization’s power to fulfill his dream.
Creating a gap in the World Ring was already no simple feat. A weak organization couldn’t have possibly done it. What was their goal, though?
In the past, even if Chen Chuan wondered about it, he wasn’t strong enough to do anything about it, but now, things were different. He had a feeling that he would have to face this in the future.
While he was thinking, he looked down. The stone platform was located practically at the highest point of the island, and he could see every cruise ship leaving the harbor before sailing out to sea. Their passengers were the guests on the island.
Chen Chuan watched them briefly before turning back to his villa. He didn’t have much time left here and had to use this rare opportunity to improve himself. Rest and recuperation was important, but not now. Watching himself get stronger was a great feeling.

A limousine and the cars surrounding it drove through Glowing Dew District and stopped near the sea. Dark clouds covered the sky, and it was drizzling.
Xu Chan got out after the car door opened. The logistics officer beside him immediately opened an umbrella, but Xu Chan signalled that he didn’t need it. He let the rain fall on his hat and overcoat while he went to the front.
Xu Chan stared at the place where Ferris Wheel had been. Construction had already started there, and the leaders had confirmed that Proto-Being was taking over the land. The company had also stated that they were officially coming to Jibei Road before the end of the year.
Proto-Being had promised the municipal government and Department of Administrative Affairs that they were going to set up multiple factories in Jibei Road and create many job opportunities.
Based on their plan, they intended to set up a brand new company in the dilapidated Roaring Victory District and work with several big companies to build a huge biotech industry in that district.
Among their partners were Compound Eyes, GreenSource Eco-Tech, Photon Nest, and others. They also intended to bring Divine Botanics into the project.
If this plan really kicked off, Roaring Victory District was going to experience an unprecedented economic revival, and the entire Central City would experience an economic boom. The Department of Administrative Affairs couldn’t possibly say no to that.
However, they couldn’t ignore one crucial factor. As an important member of the Union and a mega corporation, Proto-Being had a powerful security force. The company even had its own martial arts master. If they set up a branch company in Jibei Road, they were, without a doubt, going to be a major supporter of the municipal government.
The telegraph clerk ran out of the car and handed Xu Chan a telegram. “We found something about GreenSource Eco-Tech, sir.”
Xu Chan took the telegram. He had been promoted to a lead investigator, and Chen Chuan was currently at the island nations. Since United Might’s case had been wrapped up for the time being, Xu Chan was put in charge of investigating GreenSource Eco-Tech.
Fortunately, after the gap in the World Ring closed, many of the Resolution Department’s officers came back, so Xu Chan had more manpower.
However, just as his team returned to him, his enemies also grew stronger.
Two days ago, the covert division had sent a telegram saying that a new embryo of an active biosentient entity might have entered Central City. It was likely in White Bird District.
Active biosentient entities needed a couple years to grow to full maturity, so in terms of top fighting power, Xu Chan believed that his side was getting stronger faster. He crumpled the telegram and burned it to ashes with spirit sense.

At Treasure Bank Street, Tian Rui was playing catch with his youngest son, Tian Xiaolei. His daughter, Tian Mengmeng, was playing on a swing and giggling.
Chen Chuan hadn’t shown up again, and the purity faction never approached him, as if they had forgotten about him, though he knew that this was impossible. He had decided to live his life to the fullest for as long as he could, but after such a long time passed, he began to wonder whether they had really forgotten about him.
Tian Rui spun around and caught the ball tossed high into the air, which made his children clap and cheer at him for being amazing, but when he looked up, he saw someone walking toward him.
The man was in his thirties and looked like any random person one could see on the street, but there was a unique rhythm to his gait.
Tian Rui was shocked. “You! Why are you here again? Stop! Don’t come any closer!”
Instructor Lian paused and said, “Instructor Zhao asked me to visit you, and—”
Tian Rui didn’t wait for him to finish. “Xiao Wo isn’t here, and I told you before that the purity faction is back! You won’t be living such an easy life anymore!”
Instructor Lian gave him a look before grunting, which made Tian Rui feel like his threat had landed on nothing. Frustrated, he said, “What exactly does Zhao Zhenye want? Xiao Wo can only live well here! If he really wants what’s best for the boy, he shouldn’t be trying to make contact with him and just let Xiao Wo live a normal life.”
“You know that it’s not possible. Even if we and the purity faction let him be, things won’t stay like this forever. Tian Wo is still a child, so he’s fine, but once he becomes an adult...” Instructor Lian trailed off.
Tian Rui was shocked and asked nervously, “What’s going to happen once he becomes an adult?”
Instructor Lian shook his head. “I don’t know, but no matter what, he’s Instructor Zhao’s son.”
His words only made Tian Rui more worked up, and he charged over to grab Instructor Lian’s collar. “What exactly is going to happen to him? Tell me!”
Instructor Lian had expected this and took a step back to avoid him. “I don’t know, but Instructor Zhao has a plan for him. Calm down. Xiao Wo is back.”
Tian Rui looked over and saw Tian Wo walking over. The boy ran over and greeted Instructor Lian. “You’re here, Uncle Lian!”
Tian Wo was familiar with Instructor Lian, who visited his family from time to time. Though he seemed to have a bad relationship with his father, he was pretty sure that they were friends, because even though they had argued for so many years, they hadn’t severed ties with each other. Instructor Lian was also always showing concern toward him.
Tian Rui forced a smile before grunting and walking back.
Meanwhile, Instructor Lian walked toward Tian Wo and threw what he had been carrying in his hand. Tian Wo’s eyes lit up after catching the boxing gloves. They were from a famous company and semi-implants that could fit all hands perfectly. They could also repair themselves, so Tian Wo had always wanted them.
But these boxing gloves were expensive, so he had never asked his parents to buy them. His plan was to do odd jobs outside to earn money and buy them himself. That was why he was only happy for a brief moment, then pushed the boxing gloves back. “They’re too expensive, Uncle Lian. I can’t take them.”
“You’ll be seventeen after the New Year. Your birthday is on the third of January, but I’m going to be leaving for some time, so I’m giving you your birthday present in advance. Just take them,” Instructor Lian argued.
This time, Tian Wo didn’t say no and thanked Instructor Lian before excitedly putting on the gloves. A numb, tingly feeling appeared on his skin when the gloves attached themselves to him. When he spread his fingers, the gloves opened up naturally, without affecting his agility
Instructor Lian didn’t go into the house, just asked a few questions about how Tian Wo was doing outside. When a patrol car drove down the street, he gave it a wary look and said goodbye to Tian Wo, then left in a hurry.
